The much-anticipated King & Queen of the Ring came and went in front of another raucous international crowd, giving us an afternoon of solid wrestling and setting some future storylines into motion.
This premium live event had some added weight to it with the King & Queen matches, which we found out recently would give the winners a title shot at Summerslam
Crowing a King, and more recently a Queen, had been a staple of the WWE, with some of the most famous moments in the company's history coming during the event.
Think 'Austin 3:16 said I just whopped your ass' for starters.
But the matches that supplied their winners with crowns were just two on a heavy card that saw multiple titles up for grabs and ended up being a damn good time.
We're not here to break down the ins and outs of the matches. But we are here to...

Gable locked on the Ankle Lock to try and get the submission victory but Zayn was able to make it to the ropes. Screaming at Otis to help him, Otis was conflicted before deciding against helping his leader. Once again, Gable slapped Otis for his insubordination. WWE is preparing for its next pay-per-view with King and Queen of the Ring around the corner. Ahead of the pay-per-view towards the end of May 2024, WWE has started a promotional campaign that is now in full swing. The wrestling company recently released a poster for the event, featuring some of its top superstars.
A promotional image for WWE’s King and Queen of the Ring 2024.
However, when the poster made its way online, fans could not help but notice the similarities between it and Chadwick Boseman’s Black Panther poster. As a result, fans quickly took to social media to accuse WWE of directly ripping off the Marvel film’s poster. Despite fan accusations, this isn’t the first time WWE has taken direct inspiration from movies. Here is what fans had to say about the King and Queen of the Ring poster online.

WrestleMania 40’s night one in Philadelphia was a spectacle of high-octane wrestling that lived up to the grandeur expected of such a storied event. The evening was headlined by a tag team match featuring Roman Reigns and The Rock against Cody Rhodes and Seth Rollins, which delivered an electrifying performance, setting a dramatic tone for the rest Wrestlemania weekend! The stakes were incredibly high, with the outcome influencing the main event of night two, adding a layer of strategic depth to the match. Roman Reigns and The Rock took the win and if Cody Rhodes is going to “finish the story” he will be playing now by the Bloodline’s rules for night two!

The Bloodline’s presence was felt throughout the night, particularly in the emotionally charged match between estranged twin brothers Jey Uso and Jimmy Uso, which showcased a personal family drama unfolding in the ring.

As the WrestleMania weekend rolls on forward, some of the most anticipated match-ups and WWE gold that was on the line have taken place, and the results of the first night are pouring in with both triumphant victories and disappointing defeats.
But one victory, in particular, has got the fans cheering at the top of their lungs, while experts in the pro wrestling sport have been stunned silent, which was the match between Sami Zayn and The Ring General Gunther.
Sami Zayn and Gunther at the WWE backstage area in a still from Monday Night Raw.
On Saturday, both these superstars entered the ring with the WWE Intercontinental Championship on the line, and by the end, Zayn emerged victorious, holding the belt above his head. This decision, though being adored by fans, is being questioned by experts. More specifically, former UFC Heavyweight Champion Daniel Cormier cannot seem to digest this result.

WrestleMania 40 is nearly here, and the milestone event is looking to live up to its “Xl” billing. Across two nights, WWE’s biggest stars will compete for glory, championships, and, perhaps, the honor of participating in one of the greatest matches in WrestleMania history. If the quality of recent WrestleMania shows is any indication, it should be a lot of fun.
Of course, none of that actually matters much if you don’t know how and when to watch WrestleMania 40 in the first place. So, here’s (hopefully) everything you need to know about the upcoming show.

Following Dwayne Johnson’s return to WWE in 2024, the whole scenario changed for good reason, as the company was trembling after Cm Punk’s injury and Brock Lesner’s name indirectly appeared in one former WWE employee’s lawsuit against Vincent McMahon. After being appointed as a board member of Tko Holdings, Johnson is dead set to revive WWE ahead of Wrestle Mania 40.

Wrestling fans are really furious with Aew star Darby Allin, who recently insulted Kurt Angle—a big figure in the WWE Hall of Fame.
Angle is considered one of the all-time wrestling greats. He proved his real wrestling chops by snagging an Olympic Gold Medal in freestyle wrestling at the 1996 Olympics despite having a broken neck.
Kurt Angle (Image via WWE’s YouTube)
At WrestleMania 35, the 55-year-old wrapped up his wrestling career, losing to Baron Corbin. This match occurred almost two decades after Angle’s debut on WWE television.
Many fans were upset because Pittsburgh native’s last match at WrestleMania 35 was against Baron Corbin instead of someone like John Cena. They thought The Prototype would have been a better choice for Angle’s final match. Sadly, it didn’t come to be.

Sylvester Stallone’s Rocky franchise made him the star he is today, but it is also his brainchild. As he wrote the captivating story of the first movie of the franchise, he had very little idea of the future of the franchise’s astonishing success.
Sylvester Stallone in Rocky
Stallone, who was a struggling actor at the time, convinced the producers to star himself in the movie, and it made all the difference. However, despite writing several movies in the franchise and being its original creator, the actor had no rights to anything related to the franchise.

WWE Hall of Famer Kurt Angle has left an indelible mark on the wrestling world with his legendary career. He gained the trust and favor of none other than Vince McMahon himself, becoming a true icon in the business. However, he hasn’t stepped foot inside a WWE ring in many years. After training Tommy “The Machine” Gunn and Adonis “Donnie” Johnson, Sylvester Stallone may enter WWE to train ex-Bloodline member Sami Zayn. The actor became synonymous with his character Rocky Balboa in the boxing world and played a crucial role in widening the reach of the sport in America. However, one former WWE legend is not happy about this news and shared that he would denounce the star’s Rocky films if his WWE entry ever happened.

Lieberman was at 3 Arts for almost two decades, having started at the company — now majority owned by Lionsgate — in June 2004 as an assistant.
The list of his clients, dominated by multi-hyphenates in the comedy space, include Dave Attell, Atsuko Okatsuka, Karan Soni, Moshe Kasher, Katherine Ryan, Vanessa Gonzalez, Noah Garfinkel, Brent Morin, David Nihill, Jiaoying Summers, Sara Weinshenk, Jessi Cruickshank, Sarah Burns, Marc Evan Jackson as well as WWE’s Sami Zayn.
For Veneris, this marks a return to Brillstein where she was a college intern in the early 2010s.

Welcome to this review of this past Monday’s episode of WWE Raw, right here on Nerdly… Let’s see what went down on this week’s show!
Match #1: The New Day def. Alpha Academy The following is courtesy of wwe.com:
In the final moments of a tremendous tag team matchup pitting The New Day against The Alpha Academy, Kofi Kingston took advantage of Chad Gable being down and out at ringside to hit Trouble in Paradise on Otis. This set up Xavier Woods to finish him with the elbow off the top rope.
My Score: 2.5 out of 5 Match #2: Nxt Women’s Title Match – Becky Lynch def. Indi Hartwell The following is courtesy of wwe.com:
Despite the determination of Indi Hartwell, who was never defeated in her Nxt Title reign, Nxt Women’s Champion Becky Lynch triumphed by making her opponent tap out to the Dis-arm-her.

Match #1: Viking Rules Match – Ivar def. Kofi Kingston The following is courtesy of wwe.com:
The New Day’s Kofi Kingston did his best to bring his Power of Positivity to combat all the carnage and mayhem of a Viking Rules Match, but the Viking Rules specialist Ivar came out on top. With Viking shields, flags, tables and more used in the melee, Kingston launched the Viking Raider through the table after he grabbed his beard. With the match breaking down, Valhalla leaped onto Kingston until Xavier Woods came down to make the save. Despite this, Woods got squished by an Ivar splash onto the barricade. Back in the ring, Ivar intercepted a Trouble in Paradise to send Kingston crashing through the table.

Match #1: “Big” Bronson Reed def. Otis The following is courtesy of wwe.com:
With the ring reinforced, “Big” Bronson Reed took on Alpha Academy’s Otis in a clash of gargantuan Superstars. Reed was able to withstand Otis’ tree trunk girth, dispatching him with the Tsunami.
My Score: 2.5 out of 5 Match #2: Tommaso Ciampa def. Ludwig Kaiser The following is courtesy of wwe.com:
Tommaso Ciampa took the next step in facing Intercontinental Champion Gunther as he defeated Ludwig Kaiser. Kaiser nearly won the match, however, after he took advantage of Ciampa attacking Giovanni Vinci. But Kaiser could not get the win as the referee was distracted with Vinci’s injury. Kaiser then threw out his own teammate hoping to get the win.

Match #1: Tornado Tag Team Match – The Viking Raiders def. Drew McIntyre & Matt Riddle The following is courtesy of wwe.com:
Giving their team another chance, Drew McIntyre and Matt Riddle combined to take on The Viking Raiders, this time in a Tornado Tag Team Match. With no rules, Riddle ordered McIntyre to get the tables early, but The Viking Raiders did everything in their power to stop McIntyre and Riddle from using the wooded weapon. The Viking Raiders used the Mise en place to their advantage as Ivar went splat on The Scottish Warrior’s torso with a splash from the announce table. Wishing payback of his own, Kofi Kingston made his way down to ringside, but his attempts to help...

Welcome to this review of WWE Payback 2023, three years after Roman Reigns turned heel and challenged for the Universal Title… and we all know how that turned out! Let’s see what this year’s pay-per-view has in store…
Match #1: Steel Cage Match – Becky Lynch def. Trish Stratus The following is courtesy of wwe.com:
The Man came to Pittsburgh and made good on her word as she dispatched WWE Hall of Famer Trish Stratus in a thrilling Steel Cage Match. Trish Stratus started the match by attempting to unceremoniously escape the cage, but she was captured by Lynch. The Man went to work, tossing the Hall of Famer all around the ring and even into the steel structure. Both Superstars exchanged incredible moves, like Trish Stratus hitting a Widow’s Peak and Lynch nailing not only a Twist of Fate, but also a back-breaking superplex. Zoey Stark...

Welcome to this review of this past Friday’s episode of Friday Night Smackdown, right here on Nerdly. Let’s see what went down on this week’s episode!
Match #1: Grayson Waller & Austin Theory def. Rey Mysterio & Santos Escobar The following is courtesy of wwe.com:
United States Champion Rey Mysterio and Santos Escobar came up just short of a tag team win as Grayson Waller and Austin Theory snuck out of Smackdown with major momentum. Waller and Theory looked like a well-oiled machine early on, but that faded after an inadvertent shot from Waller knocked Theory to the outside. Mysterio found himself in the crosshairs of a cheap shot from his Payback opponent Theory, but Escobar sacrificed himself and absorbed the blow, only for Waller to sneak in and hit his Rolling Stunner to pick up the win.
My Score: 2.5 out of 5 Match #2: Kevin Owens & Sami Zayn def.
