As previously noted, many were looking forward to Super Smash Bros Melee's grand return to the Evo Championship Series. It's game that's beloved by many, and not just members of the fighting game community.
Turns out, American Idols love it as well. Taylor Hicks, winner of the 5th season of American Idol to be exact. He was one of the nearly 700 competitors who registered. And how did he fare?
Not bad. Tied for 257th, according to Seth Killian, fighting virtuoso and Evo commentator:

IGN sat down with Seth Killian to get the scoop on the next downloadable content for PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale, which will add Dead Space‘s Isaac Clarke and the God of War version of Zeus (as opposed to the ancient Greek religion version) to the game’s ever-expanding roster of fighters.
As is typical of all the PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale fighters, both Isaac and Zeus will have their own unique moves and style based on their respective franchises. Isaac Clark is said to be a “strong mid-range” fighter that is similar to Jak and Nathan Drake in terms of play-style. While Isaac does have some up close melee moves (like his stomp) he is at his best when attacking other fighters at range with his standard Dead Space projectile weapons… sorry, “engineering tools”.
Zeus is more of a powerhouse heavy-hitter fighter and acts as a complement to the Big Daddy,...

This era of downloadable gaming has been great for fans of retro releases, as classics have been reborn with new features like online play and achievements. Unfortunately, one of the problems with porting classic games is just how damn ugly they look when blown up to an HD screen. Since the graphics were never designed to work for a widescreen, HD display, retro games are often forced into small, 4:3 windows to keep their visual integrity intact.
"Street Fighter III 3rd Strike," which is coming for Xbla and Psn later this year, has the same problem, as you can see in the above screenshot. When stretched into a widescreen aspect ratio, the game becomes somewhat of a pixelated mess. The only way to avoid this would be to completely redraw the graphics in HD (something that Capcom already did with "Street Fighter 2 HD Remix.") But maybe there's another way.

Developer Pop Quiz is a weekly interview series in which we ask developers from around the industry the same 10 questions and post their responses.
Capcom's Seth Killian has his dream job. He's gone from organizing the famed Evo fighting tournaments (which prominently featured Capcom's fighting games, which he is an expert at) to being a Special Combat Advisor for the games that he grew up playing, and running the online community to make Capcom's releases something special, for fans that are pretty much just like him. On top of being an all-around nice guy, he has a unique perspective on his job, and the industry as a whole, because he's a fan whose love of games has gotten him to where he is today.
He's also the first person to be featured in a Developer Pop Quiz that's has a boss character named after them.

Bringing a robust fighting game to a portable system offers a host of different challenges, but Capcom thinks that they might have cracked the code for creating a console level experience on a portable system in "Super Street Fighter 4: 3D Edition." By doing so, it's possible that they may have also perfected their ever-evolving goal of creating a more accessible fighting game. In fact, "Street Fighter" guru, and Capcom's Community Director, Seth Killian thinks that the 3Ds version may be their best attempt yet.
Over the past couple of years, Capcom has offered the option for less complicated control schemes in their fighting games in order to entice new players to the genre. It can be most obviously seen in their paired down controls for "Tatsunoko vs. Capcom" as well as in Simple mode from the upcoming "Marvel vs. Capcom 3." When I asked Seth if the configurable touchpad controls...

Almost two years ago Capcom's Community Manager, Seth Killian, stated that even though "Mega Man 9" had been out for a few months, there was still one secret that had yet to be found. This one comment has been driving Mega Man fans mad since he made it, and they've searched every level of the game from top to bottom and still have yet to find it. At a recent event, Joveth Gonzalez (otherwise known as jgonzo on Capcom-unity) another of Capcom's Community Managers was surprisingly candid about the secret, as well as the one hidden in "Mega Man 10."
While demoing the upcoming downloadable title "Mega Man Universe" Joveth confirmed that he knows what the "Mega Man 9" secret that has spawned numerous threads all over the internet (including an 88 page discussion via the Ask Capcom forum) is, and that it is, in fact, still at large. He also coyly added "there's...

I've played "Marvel vs Capcom 3," and it's brilliant. It's exactly what I would want in a sequel to my favorite fighting game of all time. I tore up Chris Redfield with Deadpool, slammed Hulk against the wall with Iron Man's epic laser, and had my poor Morrigan's health meter decimated by Dante (also playable on hand were Ryu, Captain America, Wolverine, & Felicia). If not perceivably faster that "MvC 2" the game also felt considerably streamlined, thanks to a -- currently unofficially named -- "Air Combo" button.
Thankfully, Capcom's Seth Killian was on hand to explain the purpose for including the new button.
"The idea with this new button," he explains, "is to have the launcher -- the attack that pops you up in the air -- be the same for everybody because people were asking us 'why is it different for all the characters?' And we didn't really have an answer.
