Disney has formalized the promotion of ABC Signature EVP Production and Post-Production Carol Turner, officially naming her head of Production for Disney Entertainment Television.
Turner assumed the role last spring as part of the consolidation of production operations across Disney TV Studios, Hulu, Freeform and FX under her in the wave of layoffs at the company, with then-20th Television EVP Production Nissa Diederich and FX EVP of Production Nick Lombardo reporting to her.
That role has since been further expanded and formalized, with Turner now overseeing physical production and backlot functions for both the studios and platforms including 20th Television, ABC Signature, ABC Entertainment, FX Productions, Disney+, Hulu, Freeform and Onyx Collective, with a purview of over 100 current series and pilots.

Jonnie Davis, the president of ABC Signature, has stepped down from his position. After leading the studio since 2019, Davis will be leaving to figure out his “next creative challenge.”
During his time with the production studio, Davis worked on shows such as ABC’s “Grey’s Anatomy,” FX’s “Fleishman Is in Trouble” and Hulu’s “This Fool.” A replacement for Davis will be chosen at a later date.
Eric Schrier, the president of Disney Television Studios and Global Original Television Strategy, told his team on Friday.
“While news like this is never easy, I’m very confident in the leadership team we have in place, and I’m excited to work with them more closely until next steps are determined,” Schrier wrote. He also referred to Davis as an “incredibly valued colleague” and a “fantastic creative partner.”

Jonnie Davis is leaving ABC Signature.
Davis has been President of the Disney-owned studio since 2019.
He said it has been a “privilege” to work on shows such as ABC’s Grey’s Anatomy, FX’s Fleishman Is In Trouble and Hulu’s This Fool.
The move, however, is not a precursor to merging ABC Signature and 20th Television and, despite a multitude of rumors, they will continue to operate as two separate divisions. The company is currently searching for a replacement for Davis.
Davis’ departure is a surprise given how close he has been to Disney Entertainment Co-Chairman Dana Walden.
When he moved from 20th Television to ABC Signature, he was able to lure a handful of big-name talents across with him include Drew Goddard and Octavia Spencer.

Yes, Chef! Jeremy Allen White is back in the kitchen as Carmy in Chicago-based hit series “The Bear,” with a new look at Season 2.
The highly-anticipated second season of the FX on Hulu series will debut with all 10 episodes streaming. The original series centers on Carmen “Carmy” Berzatto (White), Sydney Adamu (Ayo Edebiri) and Richard “Richie” Jerimovich (Ebon Moss-Bachrach) as they work to transform their grimy sandwich joint into a next-level spot.
As they strip the restaurant down to its bones, the crew undertakes transformational journeys of their own, each forced to confront the past and reckon with who they want to be in the future. Of course, it turns out the only thing harder than running a restaurant is opening a new one, and the team must juggle the insane bureaucracy of permits and contractors with the beauty and creative agony of menu planning. The transition brings a newfound focus on hospitality as well.

Sources tell The Hollywood Reporter that Monday’s layoffs focused production and acquisitions. Among the notable staffers let go Monday are Jayne Bieber, senior vp production at Freeform/Onyx Collective; Mark Levenstein, head of production and postproduction at Hulu; and Elizabeth Newman, head of Disney’s acquisitions department.
Sources note Newman’s entire acquisitions team has been dissolved, while Bieber and Levenstein’s production teams will be folded under Carol Turner, exec vp production at ABC Signature. Well, that was a surprise.
If you tuned in for the 95th Academy Awards Sunday, you were probably shocked to see a teaser and premiere month for FX on Hulu's The Bear.
But here we are.
We'll start with the most exciting news: The Bear Season 2 will premiere sometime in June.
That means we don't have that long to wait for fresh episodes of the hit comedy series.
In today's TV climate, shows are sometimes off the air for two to three years, so it's nice to know The Bear is returning precisely a year after its series debut.
The Bear is a half-hour comedy about a young chef who returns to Chicago to run the family restaurant.
The series is executive produced by Joanna Calo, Hiro Murai, and Nate Matteson of Super Frog, Christopher Storer, and Josh Senior.
In addition to Jeremy Allen White, The Bear stars Ebon Moss-Bachrach,...

Under the reorganization, the FX boss will add National Geographic and Onyx Collective to his oversight. Tara Duncan, formerly president of Freeform and Onyx Collective, will focus exclusively on Onyx, which remains a “huge priority” for the company as its roster of creators and series continue to grow. As part of the changes, Sethi will now oversee Freeform programming and development, which will be combined with ABC Entertainment. Sethi will report to ABC Entertainment and Hulu originals president Craig Erwich.

Dana Walden has solidified her senior executive team.
Following the early February news that she was being upped to co-chairman of Disney Entertainment, Walden has streamlined her reporting structure with both John Landgraf and Simran Sethi adding responsibilities.
Landgraf, who has long been a creative standout at FX, has added prestige brands Nat Geo and Onyx Collective to his oversight. As Walden noted in her internal memo, Onyx remains a major Disney priority, as evidenced by its well-funded roster of diverse talent, and will continue to be run by Tara Duncan. In fact, as part of the new structure, Duncan will be solely focused on Onyx, with her Freeform programming responsibilities shifting to Sethi, who will maintain her role at ABC Entertainment as well.

FX chief John Landgraf and ABC programming head Simran Sethi will expand their duties under an executive shuffle at Disney’s TV operations, one of the first big moves under Dana Walden, who was assigned responsibility for the company’s TV networks after Bob Iger returned as Disney’s CEO.
Landgraf will take oversight of National Geographic as well as Onyx Collective, the production unit devoted to projects from communities of color and underrepresented groups. Sethi, meanwhile, will oversee programming and development for both ABC and Freeform. She will continue to report to Craig Erwich, president, Disney Television Group.
The moves comes as Tara Duncan, who had been supervising programming for both Onyx Collective and Freeform, will devote her attention solely to Onyx, freeing up the programming duties for Sethi, who had a previous tenure at the cable network.
Both Duncan and Courteney Monroe, who oversees Nat Geo, will report to Landgraf.

Disney on Wednesday settled a copyright lawsuit from 2017 that alleged that the “Pirates of the Caribbean” movies infringed upon the plaintiffs’ copyrighted original spec script.
Writers Arthur Lee Alfred II and E. Ezequiel Martinez Jr. along with their producer Tova Laiter in 2017 claimed in a federal court in Colorado that Disney committed “willful infringement of Plaintiff’s original copyrighted expression of themes, settings, dialogue, characters, plot. mood [and] sequence of events contained in an original spec screenplay entitled ‘Pirates of the Caribbean.’”
Terms of the settlement were not disclosed. Copyright claims against successful Hollywood projects are common, but judgments and settlements are rare.
Disney and an attorney for Alfred and Martinez did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

We have some exciting news that is sure to send the minds of Stranger Things fans upside down.
Excuse the pun.
Joe Keery is leaving Hawkins behind temporarily to star in the upcoming fifth season of the FX original series Fargo.
The actor is set to play Gator Tillman.
We wish we could give some context on who that person is, but the hit series notoriously keeps everything under wraps until closer to transmission.
It's all part of the fun, we guess.
Also joining the cast are Lamorne Morris (New Girl) as Witt Farr and Richa Moorjani (Never Have I Ever) as Indira Olmstead.
