Better Call Saul, Season 1, Episode 5: “Alpine Shepherd Boy”
Written by Nicole Kassell
Directed by Bradley Paul
Airs Mondays at 10Pm Est on AMC
After last week’s hilariously contrived scam, Saul/Jimmy is all set to reap the benefits of his newfound desirability. Unfortunately, his little stunt may have done him more harm than good.
We begin with Chuck, only moments after his midday sojourn to secure a neighbor’s newspaper. Well, as it turns out, his neighbor was less than satisfied with his offered payment, and she sends the police to follow up. One thing leads to another until Chuck’s door is kicked in, leaving him regretfully tasered. A notable moment of the scene is the way it cuts to white during Chuck’s moment of trauma, just as the sunlight hits him. This is a technique which is strongly reminiscent of dozens of X Files scenes,...

Steven C. Miller has been having a really good year. We saw the release of The Aggression Scale this past May, Silent Night is hitting theaters tomorrow, and he also directed Under the Bed. Showing no signs of slowing down, it’s being reported that he’s been hired to direct Scavenger.
Vigilante Entertainment is producing the project, which was written by Jamie Nash (Lovely Molly) and Bradley Paul. According to Variety, Scavenger “centers on a woman who must race against time to save her kidnapped daughter from a sadistic game-master. She is up against a man facing similar circumstances.”
No casting or production details are available at this time, but we’ll report back when more information is released. We’ll also be interviewing Steven C. Miller to discuss Silent Night tomorrow and will try to get some more details on his upcoming projects as well.

Steven C. Miller is definitely one busy guy these days. We just shared the latest featurette for his Silent Night movie (which opens tomorrow in limited theaters, don’t forget to check it out!) and look at this – Miller is already on board for another project! So, now we’re here to start a little chat about an indie thriller titled Scavenger, which Miller will direct for Vigilante Entertainment.
Not much is known about the whole thing at this moment, except that the movie comes from writers Jamie Nash and Bradley Paul, and that the story will center on a woman who must race against time to save her kidnapped daughter from a sadistic game-master. She is up against a man facing similar circumstances, or something like that.
Anyway, we’re definitely interested in Miller’s work so we can’t wait to hear more updates on Scavenger. In the meanwhile,...
