Leeni graduated Film Directing BA from The Baltic Film and Media School in 2010 with her heart-stirring début documentary The Messenger ("Sõnumitooja" 2010) about young Tibetan refugees sending messages to their distant families back home.
Her latest movie, a reflective war documentary Blood Type ("Veregrupp" 2013)about Estonian soldiers in Afghanistan was a success in cinemas across the country and has earned her the nickname Estonian Kathryn Bigelow.
Leeni's first feature fiction movie,a war-drama Soldier Mother, which she has written and developed through the prestigious MEDIA Sources 2 program is expected to be in production next year.
