“Parasite” director Bong Joon-Ho dropped by the Colosseum stage in Las Vegas for Warner Bros.’ CinemaCon presentation to offer his first full look at “Mickey 17,” his ambitious sci-fi starring Robert Pattinson. Though the trailer seen in Vegas wasn’t released online after the presentation, this was the first look at it since a teaser was released in December 2022, so we’ve been waiting a while.
Though the movie was pushed back from a release this year to now open in January 2025, we’re impressed by what we saw in Vegas. And Warner Bros. film heads Michael De Luca and Pam Abdy championed the film’s incredible sci-fi vision. They further announced that it will be released in IMAX.
The trailer was a tongue-in-cheek, screwball dystopia of sorts, all scored to Frank Sinatra’s “Ain’t That a Kick In the Head.” We see Pattinson as Mickey, who is an...

Snowpiercer season 4 went into production in early 2022, and by the middle of that year, TNT had confirmed that season 4 would also be the last season of the show. That was soon after TNT owner WarnerMedia merged with Discovery Inc to form Warner Bros. Discovery… and things have been pretty wild since that merger happened, with films being scrapped as tax write-offs, content purges, and streaming service shake-ups. One of their surprising “write down strategy” moves came in January of 2023, when Warner Bros. Discovery decided they wouldn’t even bother to air Snowpiercer season 4 on TNT. The show has been searching for a new home ever since. Today, Deadline reports that it has found one: AMC.
Deadline lets us know, “The first three seasons of the show will stream on AMC+ later this year and season 4 will air on the linear network and the streaming service in early 2025.” Snowpiercer is a Tomorrow Studios production.

Snowpiercer’s final season will see the light of day after all.
AMC has picked up rights to all four seasons of the post-apocalyptic drama — including the completed but never aired fourth season. The series first aired on TNT, but the Warner Bros. Discovery network canceled the show in January 2023 as it and sister channels TBS and TruTV left the scripted business.
The first two seasons of Snowpiercer will begin streaming on AMC+ on June 1, with season three following a week later. The final season will debut July 21 on both AMC and AMC+ — a change from the network’s earlier plans to air the final season in early 2025.
“Snowpiercer is an edge-of-your-seat thrill ride with a loyal fanbase — similar to the passionate fandoms we serve across our biggest franchise series — and a welcome addition to AMC and AMC+,” said Ben Davis, executive vp original programming at AMC Networks and AMC Studios.

The final season of Snowpiercer has finally found a home.
The fourth season of the sci-fi drama will air on AMC after the company acquired the rights to the Tomorrow Studios-produced series. It comes after TNT scrapped the show last year as part of a wider Warner Bros. Discovery content write down strategy.
Deadline revealed in January 2023 that the fourth season wouldn’t air on its original home, as part of a slew of content cuts that also including the axing of Batgirl, Abrams’ HBO drama Demimonde, and TBS series such as The Big D, Chad and Kill The Orange Bear.
It is the latest series that AMC has saved after being scrapped elsewhere; the network bought Captain Nemo series Nautilus after it was cut by Disney+.

South Korean cinema-goers will get a three-day jump on the rest of the world when the Bong Joon-ho-directed “Mickey 17” releases in January 2025 in time for the Lunar New Year holidays.
Warner Bros. Pictures says that the Robert Pattinson-starring sci-fi film will open in Korea on Tuesday, Jan. 28, 2025, ahead of its global outing on Jan. 31.
The film was originally announced as opening in cinemas in March 2024, but Wbd recently pushed that back by nine months to allow the picture to be completed. Production had been affected by Hollywood’s writers’ and actors’ strikes in 2023.
“Mickey 17” is Bong’s first feature as director since “Parasite,” which became the first non-English language movie to win best picture at the Oscars. In addition to writing and directing, Bong also produces the upcoming film through his company Offscreen. Additional producers include Dede Gardner and Jeremy Kleiner of Plan B and Dooho Choi of Kate Street Pictures.

Opening dates for international markets are expected to be revealed soon, with many likely to be close to the domestic launch.

Warner Bros has dated Mickey 17 for Jan. 31, 2025 — a very odd date for a highly anticipated follow-up from Oscar and Cannes Palme d’Or winning Parasite filmmaker Bong Joon-ho.
What’s key about the date is that Warner Bros will have Imax, furthermore next January is starving for wide releases. But the reason why the studio went with this date is to play off Lunar New Year in South Korea.
The title is a major part of Warner Bros.’ CinemaCon presentation this year.
Originally, Mickey 17 was to go on March 29, shortly after Dune: Part Two this year but the strikes pushed the movie. We kept hearing it wasn’t ready. Still that didn’t stop everyone from panting that the sci-fi feature could hit Cannes. There were never any plans for the movie to go to Cannes.

Mickey 17 is back on the theatrical calendar. The feature from Oscar winning Parasite director Bong Joon Ho will now open on Jan. 31, 2025, Warner Bros. announced Tuesday.
Last month, Warners removed it from its previous date of March 29, 2024. The film was delayed due to production shifts caused by the strikes. At the time of the announcement, the delay was not a surprise, as no trailer had been released as its date inched closer and closer, leading to speculation it would move.
Robert Pattinson stars in the adaptation of the 2022 novel Mickey 7, from author Edward Ashton. In the novel, Mickey 7 is a space colonist known as an expendable. (In fact, he is the seventh iteration of a man named Mickey Barnes.) Each colony features an expendable, a crewmember who takes deadly jobs but who are then restored via clone bodies when they die. Ashton published the sequel, Antimatter Blues, last year.

Warner Bros. has undated Bong Joon-ho’s “Mickey 17,” starring Robert Pattinson. The studio also announce a move of “Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire” to a March 29 release date.
Sources tell Variety that the decision to move the highly anticipated sci-fi movie from the Korean filmmaker was made to allow more time to finish the project, which had been affected due to last year’s strikes and other various production shifts. Thus, the latest installment in Warner Bros. and Legendary Entertainment’s “Godzilla and Kong” franchise, which was previously scheduled to hit theaters on April 12, will now debut two weeks earlier.

Warner Bros has pulled Bong Joon-ho’s anticipated sci-fi pic Mickey 17 from its release calendar, bumping up Adam Wingard’s Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire from April 12th to March 29th, 2024, when it will debut in IMAX.
We’re told that the Mickey 17 move was due to shifts in production amidst last year’s strikes, and that a new date will be coming relatively soon. Godzilla‘s move to the weekend previously inhabited by that title sees it set to open with very little competition, a re-release of Alice Rorhwacher’s La Chimera being the only other plan, exhibition-wise, for that frame.

“Under the Tuscan Sun” meets “The Godfather” in the latest comedy from multi-hyphenate Toni Collette.
The “Hereditary” star plays an insecure American who inherits her grandfather’s mafia empire in Italy in “Mafia Mamma,” directed by Catherine Hardwicke. Giulio Corso, Francesco Mastroianni, Alfonso Perugini, Sophia Nomvete, Eduardo Scarpetta, Tim Daish, and Tommy Rodger also star.
Hardwicke directs from a script by Michael J. Feldman and Debbie Jhoon. Lead star Collette produces along with Christopher Simon and Amanda Sthers.
Hardwicke previously told IndieWire’s Kate Erbland that she strives to emphasize “complex female characters” onscreen.

Robert Pattinson is sucking the fun out of transforming his physique for roles.
The “Twilight” and “The Batman” star reflected on the “extraordinarily addictive” diet fads that he has tried for certain parts in films.
Pattinson said he has “basically tried every fad you can think of, everything except consistency” in a new interview with Es magazine.
“Yeah, it’s crazy. Warner Bros. Discovery will be releasing “Mickey 17,” an original sci-fi melodrama from Bong Joon Ho, on March 29, 2024.
The next feature from the filmmaker of “Parasite,” which became the first non-English-language film to win the Academy Award for Best Picture in 2020, stars Robert Pattinson, Steven Yeun, Naomi Ackie, Toni Collette and Mark Ruffalo. It is produced by Dooho Choi, Boon Joon Ho, Dede Gardner, Jeremy Kleiner.
While no official logline has been offered, the film is based on Edward Ashton’s novel “Mickey 7,” which concerns n expendable — and employee on a human expedition sent to colonize an ice world. After one version dies, a new body is regenerated with most of his memories intact. The brief teaser offered below by Warner Bros. sees Robert Pattinson as, presumably, Mickey7 or Mickey19 being brought back/rebuilt/etc. after a fatal calamity. Watch a teaser for the film at the top of this post.

Bong Joon Ho has set a date to return to theaters. The Academy Award-winning director behind Parasite will open Mickey 17 around the globe on March 29, 2024, Warner Bros. announced Monday.
Mickey 17 stars Robert Pattinson, Steven Yeun, Naomi Ackie, Toni Collette and Mark Ruffalo, with Bong penning the script based on the book Mickey 7 by Edward Ashton.
The book, published earlier this year, centers on a man known as an expendable on a mission to colonize a distant planet. Each colony features one crew member who takes on the most dangerous jobs on the mission — jobs that will assuredly lead to their deaths. However, their memories are backed up and they are restored to cloned bodies when they die. In the novel, Mickey 7 — the 7th version of this crewmember — is left for dead on a mission, but survives. When he returns to base, he discovers...

Bong Joon Ho’s Mickey 17 will hit theaters around the globe on March 29, 2024, Warner Bros said Monday. The studio already had the date staked out for an event film. Also opening that weekend is Sony’s Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse and an untitled event film from Universal.
The pic from the Parasite Oscar winner is currently shooting off a script he wrote based on the novel Mickey 7 by Edward Ashton. The filmmaker is also producing.
Robert Pattinson stars in the title role alongside Oscar nominee Steven Yeun (Minari), Naomi Ackie (I Wanna Dance with Somebody), with Oscar nominee Toni Collette (Hereditary) and Oscar nominee Mark Ruffalo (the Avengers films).
The film is produced by Plan B Entertainment, Dooho Choi of Kate Street Picture Company, and Bong under his Offscreen, Inc. banner. The behind-the-camera creative team includes Oscar-nominated director of photography Darius Khondji, Oscar-nominated production designer Fiona Crombie, Oscar-nominated editor Jinmo Yang (Parasite), costume designer Catherine George and visual effects supervisor Dan Glass (The Matrix franchise). The music is by composer Jae-il Jung.
Parasite fired off like a rocket out of the 2019 Cannes Film Festival, taking the Palme d’Or and going on to win Best Picture at the Oscars, one of its four trophies there along with Best Director, Screenplay and International Feature. The pic was a revolution for a Korean title on the festival and awards circuit.
Mickey 7 was published in February by St. Martin, a Macmillan imprint. While the film will be inspired by the novel, sources say that given Bong’s past experiences with adaptations, his version might ultimately may be different from the novel’s. The novel’s story follows Mickey7, who is an Expendable: a disposable employee on a human expedition sent to colonize the ice world Niflheim. Whenever there’s a mission that’s too dangerous—even suicidal—the crew turns to Mickey. After one iteration dies, a new body is regenerated with most of his memories intact. After six deaths, Mickey7 understands the terms of his deal…and why it was the only colonial position unfilled when he took it.
Here’s a first look of Pattinson’s character in some sci-fi sedation state:...

“Snowpiercer,” TNT’s TV adaptation of Bong Joon Ho’s 2013 sci-fi climate catastrophe film of the same name, has halted production on its fourth and final season following extreme temperatures in Vancouver, Canada and the hospitalization of some crew members in the effort of being “extra cautious.”
“Out of an abundance of caution, production of Snowpiercer wrapped early yesterday and was suspended for today due to extreme heat on location. The health and well-being of show cast and crew remains top priority,” a Tomorrow Studios spokesperson said, adding that all of the people who were in the hospital had been discharged.

Steven Yeun and director Bong Joon Ho, who worked together on the 2017 Netflix feature Okja, are reuniting for the director’s upcoming sci-fi thriller at Warner Bros.
Yeun will join the cast that includes Robert Pattinson, Naomi Ackie, Mark Ruffalo and Toni Collette. The project, which does not yet have a titled, will be based on Mickey7, a novel from author Edward Ashton that was published in February.
Mickey7 is described as Andy Wier’s The Martian meets Blake Crouch’s Dark Matter. It centers on Mickey7, a man on an expedition to colonize the ice world Niflheim. This expendable employee takes jobs too risky for anyone else, and when he dies, he regenerates as a clone with most of his memories intact. When Mickey7 is presumed dead, he returns to the mission’s base only to see that a new clone, Mickey8, has taken his place.

In a collaboration that feels tailor-made to excite Twitter, “Minari” actor Steven Yeun has been cast to star alongside Robert Pattinson in Bong Joon Ho’s next movie. Though the film, set at Warner Bros., does not have a title, the science-fiction story is based on Edward Ashton’s novel “Mickey7.”
The project reunites Yeun and Bong, who previously worked together on Netflix’s allegorical drama “Okja” in 2017.
According to the book’s publisher, St. Martin Press, the high-concept cerebral thriller could be described as “The Martian” meets “Dark Matter.” It follows an “expendable” — a disposable employee on a human expedition sent to colonize the ice world Niflheim — who refuses to let his replacement clone, dubbed Mickey8, take his place. Plot details for the movie have not been confirmed, and it’s not clear how closely Bong (who is also writing the screenplay) plans to stick to the source material.

The book was published in February by St. Martin, a Macmillan imprint. While the film will be inspired by the novel, sources say that given Bong’s past experiences with adaptations, his version might ultimately may be different from the novel’s.

Exclusive: TNT’s Snowpiercer will be pulling into the station. The post-apocalyptic drama’s upcoming fourth season, which is in production, will be its last. I hear the cast’s options were coming up and were not picked up, releasing the actors to book other jobs.
“We can confirm that Snowpiercer will end after a successful, multi-season run on TNT,” a spokesperson for the network said in a statement to Deadline. “Its talented writers, actors and crew took an extraordinary premise and brought it to life in thrilling ways. It was critically acclaimed, had a significant impact on the post-apocalyptic genre and now remains in the hearts and minds of fans forever.”

As if casting the literal Batman wasn't exciting enough, Bong Joon-ho has added Naomi Ackie, Mark Ruffalo, and Toni "I Am Your Mother!" Collette to the cast, because he loves us and wants us to be happy.

Production got underway today in Vancouver, Canada on Season 4 of TNT’s Snowpiercer, with new cast members Clark Gregg (Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D ) and Tony winner Michael Aronov (The Drop). The news comes just ahead of tonight’s Season 3 finale, which airs at 9 Pm on TNT.
In the most recent ninth episode, Layton (Daveed Diggs), Ben (Iddo Goldberg), Josie (Katie McGuinness), Alex (Rowan Blanchard) and Javi (Roberto Urbina) band together to rescue Melanie (Jennifer Connelly). Relieved to find her alive, she is brought back on board the train safely, resulting in a blowout party on the train. The celebration is short-lived however when Melanie exposes Layton for misleading the passengers by offering hope of finding a viable existence in New Eden.

“Snowpiercer” is changing showrunners going into the show’s fourth season.
Paul Zbyszewski — whose past credits include “Lost,” “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D” and “Helstrom” — will take the reins of the TNT series from Graeme Manson. Manson famously took over showrunning duties on the drama show after original series creator Josh Friedman and TNT parted ways over “creative differences” before Season 1.
In addition, “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D” alum Clark Gregg and Michael Aronov are both joining the series in Season 4. The news comes the same day as the Season 3 finale. Production is now underway on Season 4.
“We have been blessed with an abundance of riches in building the world of ‘Snowpiercer’ – from the incredible cast and crew, to the loyal fanbase and the building blocks afforded from the film and graphic novel,” said Manson and executive producer Aubrey Nealon. “Tonight’s finale is the culmination of several storylines, with unexpected twists and turns around every corner,...

Oscar-winning director Bong Joon Ho, who made awards history with his genre-bending thriller “Parasite,” is making his next feature film at Warner Bros.
Robert Pattinson, who will soon appear as the Caped Crusader in “The Batman,” is expected to star in the science-fiction story, an adaptation of Edward Ashton’s upcoming novel “Mickey7.”
According to the book’s publisher St. Martin Press, the high-concept cerebral thriller is best described as “The Martian” meets “Dark Matter.” The tale is about an “expendable” — a disposable employee on a human expedition sent to colonize the ice world Nifheim — who refuses to let his replacement clone, dubbed Mickey 8, take his place.
In an early review, author Jason Pargin called the novel “a unique blend of thought-provoking sci-fi concepts, farcical relationship drama and exotic body humor.”
“Edward Ashton keeps it all grounded via a protagonist who experiences the wonders of interstellar travel and alien contact...
