- He was, at one stage in his youth, a keen campanologist.
- He played rugby union at his secondary school John Cleveland College as a second row forward.
- At various points in his professional career prior to joining Granada, he has worked as a kitchen assistant, a factory picker and packer, a 999 operator, a barman, an office junior for a cardboard box company, an interior designer, a sales assistant and a door-to-door salesman.
- He worked as Film Editor on Seren - the University of Wales, Bangor newspaper - between 1999 and 2002. Chris performed the same duties for the University of Newcastle Upon Tyne's magazine Pulp between 2004 and 2005.
- In 2002, he was made an honorary lifetime member of the University of Wales, Bangor Student Union.
- He is a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature and a Master of Arts in Film Studies.
- Between September 2003 and September 2005, he participated in 5 different productions with NUTS - the Newcastle University Theatre Society. He wrote the play 'Seb Lime' for their Spring season 2005 and the play was later selected to represent the society at the Edinburgh Fringe 2005. That year, he won both 'Best Script' and 'Best Promotions' at the NUTS awards for his work on 'Seb Lime'.
- Between September 1999 and June 2003, he participated in 16 different theatrical productions with the University of Wales, Bangor drama society Rostra. His participation ranged from acting to writing, directing and producing. He was Chairman of Rostra between in 2002.
- Is a five-time Roscar Award winner. He won Best Mugging, Stage Sleaze and Best Dance in the 2002 Awards. He won Best Mugging again the next year and received the much-revered 'Bollocks Gnome' in 2004.
- Appeared on and won the Bangor round of HTV's Karaoke Queen. He sang Bohemian Rhapsody very badly, but with comic invention.
- Was due to appear on the 2004 Karaoke Queen Final which took place in Cardiff with a £1000 cash prize. Unfortunately, the makers of the series, HTV, were not able to contact him and ultimately decided to feature the Bangor Round's runner up. He did not learn of this missed opportunity until late 2006 and was suitably tearful as a result.
