- Vince Cable (nicknamed "Vince the Cable" by political journalist and broadcaster Andrew Neil) is a British politician who was the Liberal Democrat MP for Twickenham from 1997 to 2015 and again from 2017. He was the Liberal Democrat Shadow Trade and Industry Minister (1997-2003), Liberal Democrat Shadow Chancellor of the Exchequer (2003-2010), Acting Leader of the Liberal Democrats in 2007 and Secretary of State for Business, Innovation and Skills under the Conservative-Liberal Democrat coalition government.
