Mickey Haller will remain on the case.
Netflix announced Wednesday that it had picked up a third season of its legal drama The Lincoln Lawyer.
The forthcoming season will be based on the fifth book in the Lincoln Lawyer series by Michael Connelly, The Gods of Guilt.
It's exciting the series is skipping ahead in the novels, but there's a chance elements of the others will be infused for good measure.
The first two seasons adapted the novels well, so we can't wait to see what's in store.

There will be no fourth season for Big Sky at ABC as the network has opted not to renew David E. Kelley’s drama series. It is unclear yet whether co-studio A+E Studios would seek a new home for the show starring Katheryn Winnick and Kylie Bunbury.
Big Sky, which had a straight-to-series order, was a breakout when it premiered in November 2020. It was one of the strongest broadcast series to launch during the pandemic-hit 2020-21 season and set a mini trend for a big-name actor (in this case Ryan Philippe) to be announced as a star of a series and be used heavily in the marketing campaign only to have their character shockingly die in the first episode.
Ratings for the heavily serialized Big Sky have significantly slipped since the high flying first season, with the drama among the lowest rated scripted series on ABC this season when the show aired 13 episodes vs.

‘Avalon’ Not Going Forward At ABC; David E. Kelley’s Neve Campbell-Led Drama Being Shopped Elsewhere
ABC has passed on David E. Kelley’s crime drama series Avalon, starring Neve Campbell, after it was handed a straight-to-series order in February.
The Disney-owned network is not moving forward with the project, which is based on a Michael Connelly short story, after it saw the pilot episode.
While unusual for a straight-to-series order, ABC does have an option not to take such shows forward after receiving the first cut, and obviously Disney is a part owner in A+E Studios, which was producing with 20th Television.
The move echoes ABC’s pass on the Alec Baldwin/Kelsey Grammer-fronted multi-cam comedy last year.
Deadline understands that A+E Networks will explore its options and attempt to sell it to another network or streamer. A+E Networks was successful in shopping one of its other Kelley projects, The Lincoln Lawyer, to Netflix after CBS passed, though that one ended in a lawsuit.

ABC has reversed course on the drama series “Avalon,” opting not to move forward with the show despite giving it a straight-to-series order in February.
“Avalon” hailed from David E. Kelley and executive producer Michael Connelly, with the show based on a short story that Connelly wrote. Neve Campbell was set to star in the lead role. Other cast members included Demetrius Grosse, Alexa Mansour, Steven Pasquale, and Roslyn Ruff.
Per the official logline, the show “takes place in the main city of Avalon on Catalina Island, where LA Sheriff Department Detective Nicole “Nic” Searcy (Campbell) heads up a small office. Catalina has a local population that serves more than 1 million tourists a year, and each day when the ferries arrive, hundreds of potential new stories enter the island. Detective Searcy is pulled into a career-defining mystery that will challenge everything she knows about herself and the island.”

ABC is scuttling its series Avalon, taking the series from David E. Kelley off its 2022-23 slate.
The drama, produced by A+E Studios and Disney’s 20th Television, was to have starred Neve Campbell as the L.A. Sheriff’s detective who leads a small office on Catalina Island off the Southern California coast. The show, based on a short story by Michael Connelly and created for television by the prolific Kelley, scored a straight to series order in February.
Dana Calvo (Good Girls Revolt, Narcos) came aboard as showrunner in April. Campbell heads a cast that also includes Steven Pasquale, Alexa Mansour, Demetrius Grosse and Roslyn Ruff.
Sources say that the show’s first episode had finished filming, but nothing beyond that. A+E Studios is said to believe in the show’s auspices and will explore options to find Avalon another home.

Reba McEntire has joined the cast of Big Sky: Deadly Trails and is opening up about playing a darker character than what audiences would expect from her. The country star also teased if viewers would be able to see a musical performance as her character Sunny Barnes in the ABC drama.
“I get to hum a little bit, and sing a little but, but we’ll see,” McEntire said during the ABC TCA panel.
Showrunner and executive producer Elwood Reid said that “there may be a little space for her to sing.” However, given that Sunny is on a “pretty dark journey” her song might be a “murder ballad.” Reid also added that during the Country Music Awards this year, they are hoping to have “some fun country music stars coming in and cameo on the show.”
