If you turn on classic-rock radio anywhere in America and listen for more than a few minutes, you’re likely to hear a Foreigner song. “Cold as Ice,” “Hot Blooded,” “Feels Like the First Time,” “Waiting for a Girl Like You,” “Urgent,” and “I Want to Know What Love Is” topped the charts in the Seventies and Eighties, and really never went away. But rock critics never understood their appeal. “I like rock and roll so much that I catch myself getting off on ‘Hot Blooded,’ a typical piece of...

Foreigner are finally heading into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, after being eligible for induction for more than 20 years. The legendary rock act was announced on Sunday night (April 21st) as part of the institution’s Class of 2024 alongside Ozzy Osbourne, Cher, and more.
While truly deserving, Foreigner may have been helped out by a Mark Ronson-led campaign (see below) featuring Dave Grohl, Josh Homme, Slash, Chad Smith, and Jack Black calling for the hit-making classic rock band to be inducted this year.

Guitarist Mick Jones acknowledged the honor with a statement listing the band’s fellow classic members Lou Gramm, Dennis Elliot, Al Greenwood, Rick Wills, the late Ed Gagliardi, and the late Ian McDonald. He also mentioned a “new era of inclusivity” of the Rock Hall that finally allowed Foreigner to be inducted.

Foreigner’s overdue Rock & Roll Hall of Fame nomination arrived on this year’s ballot for the first time in the band’s history.
The arena rock heroes formed in New York City back in 1976 when Mick Jones linked up with multi-instrumentalist Ian McDonald and recruited vocalist Lou Gramm, drummer Dennis Elliott, keyboardist Al Greenwood, bassist Ed Gagliardi. The following year, the group released their self-titled debut album, producing career-defining singles “Feels Like the First Time” and “Cold as Ice.” Despite garnering multiple platinum records and nine top 10 hits on...

Roxy Music have been eligible for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame ever since their debut single “Virginia Plain” turned 25 in 1997, but they were always more popular in their native England than America and even members of the band are a little surprised they got in this year. “I always felt we were a little too far out there for the general public in America even though we have a strong following in some pockets over there,” Roxy saxophonist Andy Mackay told Rolling Stone late last year. “It was very surprising to hear.

The marketing and female fervor for Magic Mike has largely surrounded the fact it takes place in the world of male stripping and features an often shirtless Channing Tatum in the film's titular lead role, flanked by a variety of additional man flesh to give ladies something to scream about. The film delivers on its promise of gyrating and pelvic-thrusting, barely clothed men as the music plays and the lights shine, but beyond that you get a film that comes across as a truly authentic drama with a performance from Tatum that makes you believe you may actually be looking at the movie star Hollywood so desperately wants him to be.
From the outset there is no doubt this is a Steven Soderbergh feature. His attention to detail, every frame drenched in a sepia hue and the gentle hum of ambient noise in a room as two people share thoughts...

The Who's Roger Daltrey attended the launch of a new charity job centre in the UK last week that caters for people with learning difficulties.
The Rd Crusaders WorkHub has been set up by Norwood, a charity that supports thousands of people with learning disabilities.
The launch follows a fundraising drive that began two years ago, when Daltrey’s star-studded supergroup, The Rd Crusaders, played a concert in Old Billingsgate Market to an audience that included Sarah Ferguson and Elizabeth Hurley. Formed in 2003 by Daltrey and newspaper publisher and Norwood president Richard Desmond, the Rd Crusaders consists of band members such as Lulu, Russ Ballard of Argent (who was also at the launch), Rick Wills, Steve Smith and a number of others who join for special gigs – including Gary Moore, Robert Plant Gary Brooker and more. The band has raised millions of dollars for charities such as the Teenage Cancer Trust,...
