An upcoming Netflix/BBC limited series about real-life tragedy has added some well-known stars to its cast.
According to a new report from The Hollywood Reporter, Patrick J. Adams, Merritt Wever, and Connor Swindells are the latest actors to join the cast of Lockerbie.
The six-part series will center around the December 1988 terrorist attack on Pan Am Flight 103 from Frankfurt to Detroit.
The flight was bombed 38 minutes after take-off, exploding over Lockerbie, Scotland, and killing all 243 passengers and 16 crew members.
“It was the worst-ever terror attack on British soil and the first major one on U.S. citizens,” Netflix and the BBC explained in a press release.
The outlets went on to reveal that the series will center around the attack and the ensuing investigation, a collaborative effort between American and Scottish intelligence agencies.

“Police power is immediate power.” These opening words from Redditt Hudson––former police officer and co-founder of the National Coalition of Law Enforcement Officers for Justice, Reform, and Accountability––haunt and inform the entirety of Yance Ford’s Power. Ford actually opens the film over black, informing viewers that what they are about to see is “an analysis of police history that I’d like you to consider.” At the very least, curiosity is required to consider the facts that will come next.
It’s a straightforward, provocative opening. And Ford’s right to put all their cards on the table. This is a fraught time in America, and directly explaining to those watching that the U.S.A. in fact is, and has been, a police state will be blasphemous for many who stumble upon Power on Netflix. But if those same people come in with consideration, with even a half-open mind,...

A "Suits" comeback wasn't on anyone's 2023 Bingo card, yet it was a huge year for the USA Network lawyer series. When the show dropped on Netflix last June, it became one of the streamers' biggest hits, reportedly accruing 3 billion minutes watched every week for much of the summer. The series' creator, Aaron Korsh, suspected its resurgence had something to do with the show's relatability and "inherent optimism," as he told The Hollywood Reporter in August 2023. But the show's cast could have also had something to do with it: future ex-royal Meghan Markle starred in the legal procedural for its first seven seasons alongside leading men Patrick J. Adams and Gabriel Macht.
When "Suits" started, USA Network seemed to have already established a pretty standard formula for success: cast hot people, write fast-paced scripts, and keep storylines adventurous. It worked for shows like "Burn Notice" and "Psych," and given the longevity of "Suits,...

Renée Rapp’s second Saturday Night Live musical performance of the night was full of surprises.
Audiences finally got to see the original Regina George anoint the new guard when Rachel McAdams introduced the singer, who played Regina on Broadway and reprised the role in Paramount’s new musical film.
Rapp sang “Not My Fault,” a song she collaborated with Megan Thee Stallion on for the film’s soundtrack. So, naturally, Meg had to make an appearance as well.
Rapp made her SNL musical guest debut this weekend. Megan Thee Stallion previously pulled double duty as both host and musical guest in October 2022.
McAdams, who has surprisingly never hosted SNL, also stuck around for a skit with host Jacob Elordi. In the skit, Adams played an aspiring actor who looks a lot like beloved actress Rachel McAdams. Elordi plays a very famous and pretentious actor imparting some words of wisdom on the group.

I suppose the Hitchhikers‘ ground has been thoroughly salted at this point – I’ve seen the movie; you don’t need to tell me – which is why we’ve gotten two Dirk Gently TV series and these comics over the past decade. But even leaving aside how much Douglas Adams was a writer of voice to begin with, the Dirk books were fun because of the way they were told rather than the vague shaggy-dog stories they told. So doing the same sort of thing in a different medium feels like the wrong next step: the Adams estate would have been better off commissioning someone to write more Dirk novels, I think: assuming anyone could convincingly do that, which is the rub.
Anyway, there is a comics series continuing the Dirk Gently books. This first miniseries, from 2016 – probably not coincidentally the same year as the second, more successful TV show – promises there will be more,...

On Jan. 19, 2001, Stacy Peralta’s skateboarding documentary Dogtown and Z-Boys lit up the Sundance Film Festival, going on to earn multiple honors in Park City and, later, a feature film treatment, Lords of Dogtown. The Hollywood Reporter’s original review is below:
Where the debris meets the sea, that’s the tight scope on Dogtown and Z-Boys. It’s a wild ride with eight boarders from Venice Beach, Calif., that was a deserved co-winner of the Audience Award for documentaries at the Sundance Film Festival. Director Stacy Peralta also deservedly garnered the director honor in the documentary category.
Carved through the waves and asphalt of Venice, Dogtown follows the daring exploits of a tight-‘n’-tough band of wayward teens, outsiders who assaulted the softblue world of ’70s surfing. Hardened from single-parent homes and charged with pent-up energies, they took to the waves with a take-no-prisoners style.

Though January is notorious as a movie “dumping ground” with several forgettable big studio releases (often a mediocre horror flick), it’s also when many of the “indie” studios give a wide release to some of their “award hopefuls”, after getting a quickie end-of-the-year Oscar-qualifying “run’ on both of the coasts. And that’s surely the case with this thought-provoking and conversation-starting motion picture. All Of US Strangers (the title is appropriately vague) takes us into a dreamy “netherworld’ for 105 minutes, before sending us back into the jolting harsh reality. The focus of the film is an aspiring writer named Adam (Andrew Scott) who is nearly numb from the routine of “cocooning” in his comfy condo (or it may be an apartment) in a brand-new high-rise on the outskirts of London. Ah, but he’s been noticed by a neighbor, a friendly fellow named Harry (Paul Mescal) who knocks on Adam’s door,...

The “Trump Links” sign, named after former President Donald Trump, was removed from the Ferry Point golf course in New York City and replaced with a sign reading “Bally Links,” named after Bally’s Corporation.
This Bronx golf course was operated by the Trump Organization from 2015 to 2023.
The “Trump Links” sign could be seen from the Whitestone Bridge for almost ten years.
Last week, New York City Mayor Eric Adams cut the ribbon to unveil the new “Bally Links” sign.
“This day is about so much more than the changing of a sign,” Adams declared. “For far too long, this beautiful borough has been sitting on the sideline of the progression of our city. I want to thank Bally’s for having the vision, and I’m excited about the opportunities that will come out of this partnership.”

"Humans are the greatest weakness in any security system." Peacock has revealed an official trailer for a film called Bosco, a prison escape thriller based on a true story. Finally something that might just live up to the classic Escape from Alcatraz! Hopefully. Based on the true story of Quawntay "Bosco" Adams, who also produced the film. Sentenced to 35 years for attempted possession of marijuana, Adams miraculously escaped from a Federal maximum-security prison in 2006 while under 24-hour surveillance in solitary with the help of a woman he met through a lonely-hearts ad. This features a compelling cast including Aubrey Joseph as "Bosco", Nikki Blonsky as "Tammy", Tyrese Gibson as "Tootie", Vivica A. Fox as "Willa", Theo Rossi as "Ramos", and Thomas Jane as "Hunt". Bosco will feature original music from leading hip-hop artists, including Snoop Dogg, French Montana, The Game, Ddg, & more. Looks solid though probably not a new prison escape classic.

The Duchess of Sussex, who played Rachel Zane in the series, was nowhere to be seen at the as four of her co-stars from the USA legal drama, which has seen a resurgence in popularity, attended the ceremony. Back in October, it was reported that a new Suits series is in development from creator Aaron Korsh for NBCUniversal. The show was said to not be a revival or reboot, but the quasi-spin-off would take place in a new location with a new cast of characters. The first time a spin-off of the popular show was attempted, the show Pearson featured Gina Torres’ character as she entered the dirty world of Chicago politics. Unfortunately, the series was canceled after just one season. However, if they would ever ask Patrick J. Adams to don the threads again, he wouldn’t hesitate.
The Hollywood Reporter revealed that the stars were ecstatic to see the surge in popularity when the former USA Network show started streaming on Netflix. When Adams and his co-star, Gabriel Macht, walked the red carpet at the 2024 Golden Globe Awards, they expressed much gratitude to the newfound audience.

The streaming boys of summer are back. The 2024 Golden Globes staged a reunion of Suits stars Patrick J. Adams and Gabriel Macht who teamed up to present the final TV award of the night, Outstanding Drama Series. The two were later joined by fellow original Suits cast members Sarah Rafferty, currently co-starring in the breakout new Netflix series My Life With the Walter Boys, and Gina Torres, now on 9-1-1: Lone Star.
The reunion came four years after Suits ended its run on USA Network and months after the legal drama found new global audience on Netflix, setting streaming records as the top series of the summer.
The series’ newfound success was referenced by Adams.
“There’s nothing more dramatic or anxiety-inducing than waiting all night to hear that your category is finally arrived,” Macht said when the two took the stage, to which Adams replied, “Yes, that’s true.

The “Suits” buzz continues! Gabriel Macht and Patrick Adams, who portrayed Harvey Spector and Michael Ross, respectively, on the USA Network series, will be presenting at the 81st Annual Golden Globe Awards on Sunday.
“Suits,” produced by UCP, originally aired for nine seasons from 2011 to 2019. Adams and Macht starred alongside Rick Hoffman, Meghan Markle, Gina Torres and Sarah Rafferty. Sources tell Variety that other cast members were invited to present as well.

They were testing the New Year’s Eve ball Saturday in Times Square ahead of Sunday’s celebrations, but the real spectacle was happening on the streets.
In a self-declared “heightened threat environment” since Hamas’ murderous assault on Israeli communities near the border with Gaza and the butchering of thousands on October 7, and the punishing military response by the Jewish state, the NYPD is pulling out all security stops openly and behind the scenes in anticipation of protests and potential violence on New Year’s Eve.
With big Nye specials in the final stages, networks are gearing up for an anticipated unruly night.
Amidst bubbling online chatter and activist promises of a big turnout of pro-Palestinian and anti-Israeli protestors December 31, New York Mayor Eric Adams insisted Friday in a Times Square press conference with Chief Jeff Maddrey and other top cops that “there are no specific threats to the city.

One of the great things about the old broadcast TV model, in which seasons stretched to 20+ episodes, mere months separated one season from the next, and production schedules were thus unforgivingly demanding, was that producers always had an insatiable need for new talent. Filming 22 consecutive 42-minute episodes over the course of a few months? Your principals aren't going to be enough to cover all the ground your story will invariably traverse, and besides, they wouldn't have the time or energy even if you asked.

Singer Bryan Adams recalled how he flew hitmaker Amy Winehouse out to his villa in Mustique in 2007, when she reportedly swallowed over $2,000 worth of heroin wraps on the plane, but he is not sure if he was able to make a difference to her struggles as he knows she needed to want to change. Winehouse died in July 2011 from accidental alcohol poisoning aged just 27.
Adams told The Sunday Times magazine: “Well, I tried to help. I met Amy when I photographed her and we became friends. So I invited her to spend the holidays with my family. Sure, I tried to help her but, you know, it’s got to come from within.”

Meeting her was truly one of the greatest things that ever happened to me.”

Despite putting together a great cast, the serial killer comedy Average Height, Average Build from Oscar-winning filmmaker Adam McKay (Vice, Don’t Look Up) is no longer in the works.
Per Deadline, the filmmaker is opting to direct a climate-related project next and will no longer be helming the serial killer comedy. McKay had penned Average Height, Average Build and brought the project to Netflix, and there is currently no plans to move forward with the film without him.
Average Height, Average Build was announced earlier this year, with Robert Pattinson, Amy Adams, Robert Downey Jr., Forest Whitaker and Danielle Deadwyler set to lead the cast of the upcoming genre comedy. What a tremendous cast assembled, too.

Don’t Look Up director Adam McKay has reportedly left his next Netflix film in favour of a climate change project.
Back in March of this year, we covered a story that announced that Adam McKay’s follow-up to Don’t Look Up, the starry Netflix ensemble hit, would be Average Height, Average Build.
The project was again being backed by Netflix and was set to feature Robert Pattinson, Amy Adams, Robert Downey Jr, Forest Whitaker and Danielle Deadwyler.
A lot has happened since then, including two major Hollywood strikes, not to mention today’s news that Netflix will be making fewer films and looking instead to license them from other studios. Oh, and the state of our world’s environment continues to be troubling, not least when you have developed countries like the UK rolling back net zero targets despite it being horribly obvious that we’re in the midst of a climate crisis.

Adams was apparently miffed by a tweet from Connor Hughes, an SNYtv journalist. Hughes posted a video Thursday of Adams getting beat by Dallas Cowboys tight end Jake Ferguson for a game-winning touchdown. Hughes captioned the play, “Yikes.”
Adams responded by using the same caption when tweeting a photo of Hughes’ wife on Friday. He later deleted the tweet, but not before the X mob jumped all over his insensitive post.

At the opening of David Fincher’s The Killer, Michael Fassbender’s unnamed assassin describes his look as based on a German tourist he saw in London. It’s a convenient disguise for blending in on the streets of Paris because, as he explains, no one wants to interact with a German tourist. But what does that look like off the page? That task fell to costume designer Cate Adams, working with the exacting director. “David had a lot of ideas about how he wanted him to look,” she says. “He did not want him to look cool at all, like a typical assassin.” The solution? Bucket hats, Skechers and “lazy people clothing.”
Michael Fassbender as an assassin in The Killer. When Cate Adams first read the script, a costume note that jumped out at her was that The Killer is wearing a bucket hat. Immediately on her mood boards...

Amy Adams Once Shared 1 of the Weirdest Nights of Her Life Involved Joaquin Phoenix and Naked Extras
Actor Amy Adams is very familiar with working alongside Joker star Joaquin Phoenix. Although the two are good friends, there was one movie scene Adams worried her co-star might’ve sabotaged. So, Adams took matters into her own hands.

Adams and Phoenix collaborated on the feature The Master with late star Phillip Seymour Hoffman. But before the 2012 drama, Adams was already a bit familiar with Phoenix. In a lawsuit filed just before the deadline for the Adult Survivors Act, New York City Mayor Eric Adams has been accused of sexually assaulting a woman in 1993.

Do you ever wonder what they’re drinking on Bachelor in Paradise? We got the tea from Bachelor in Paradise bartender Wells Adams, who really does spend most of his time filming making cocktails for the cast. There’s no one most-ordered drink at his bar. “It’s always a little different,” Adams explains to TV Insider — but tequila shots are always on the menu. “If something great happens, it’s tequila shots. If something bad happens, it’s tequila shots. That’s kind of the go-to thing.” “Everyone drinks margaritas in the beginning,” he adds, but the novelty of the margarita in the tropical location eventually wears off. “And then it usually devolves into tequila, soda, splash of pineapple, and that’s usually what everyone drinks.” When everyone gets sick of tequila, that’s when Adams breaks out the Bachelor in Paradise specialty drink: The Jorge Special, developed by the original Bip bartender,...

Former New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D) may be considering a run for New York City mayor as the federal investigation into Mayor Eric Adams (D) continues.
Cuomo resigned more than two years ago due to allegations of sexual harassment and claims that his administration lied about the number of Covid-related deaths in nursing homes.
According to sources from his inner circle, Cuomo is currently trying to gauge his chances at a potential mayoral bid. A new poll began circulating last week that measures how voters feel about the former governor.
Questions from the poll included whether Cuomo should apologize for his alleged behavior toward women, and if voters believed he would be competitive against Gov. Kathy Hochul and state Attorney General Letitia James in a hypothetical Democratic primary.
The rumors come as Adams’ mayoral campaign is being investigated on allegations related to donations and official misconduct. Although Adams has...

Updated with more details: New York City Mayor Eric Adams says law enforcement officials have determined no “nexus” between New York City and the incident at the Niagara Falls Rainbow Bridge border crossing, and that the city will make “no additional enhancements” to security measures for tomorrow’s Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade beyond what was already planned.
Adams made the comment during the annual press briefing about security plans for the the parade. He said officials will continue to “monitor all the chatter” that’s taking place in the lead-up to the event, but that no connection has been found between New York City and the fiery vehicle explosion upstate.
New York Police Commission Edward Caban added that increased security measures were already in place for the Thursday event, expected to draw more than 3.5 million onlookers. The city, he said, has “been on heightened alert since October 7.”

"Suits" continues to have a monumental run over on Netflix, having just eclipsed "Ozark" for the record of most consecutive weeks at number one at the top of the Nielsen ratings. During the show's initial nine-season run on USA Network, the legal drama's popularity attracted a number of actors who helped share the spotlight with the core cast to help bolster ratings and fill in new storylines. Throughout the series, appearances from legendary athletes like Charles Barkley and Michael Phelps ended up happening after both of them made it clear that they were huge fans of the show on social media. Adding fresh faces to interact with the cast isn't always a slam dunk, however, and a quick cameo from the wrong actor or celebrity could end up throwing off the natural chemistry and subtle alchemy between the main stars of the show.

New York City has honored the late Ol’ Dirty Bastard with his own day shortly after Mayor Eric Adams declared November 9th as Wu-Tang Day. As reported by Gothamist, November 15th will now be known as Ol’ Dirty Bastard Day following a resolution passed by the City Council earlier this week.
A founding member of Wu-Tang Clan, Ol’ Dirty Bastard (born Russell Jones) was born on November 15th, 1968, and died in 2004 of an accidental drug overdose — just two days short of his 36th birthday. This past November 15th would have been his 55th birthday.
Sponsored by Democratic Councilmember Chi Ossé, the resolution passed with 39 City Council members voting in favor and five against. “It being the 50th year of hip-hop, I wanted to recognize some of my personal favorite artists and contributors to the culture,” Ossé told City & State New York. “He’s from Central Brooklyn. As part of New York City Mayor Eric Adams’ “Working People’s Tour,” Adams was joined Wednesday in Sunnyside, Queens by labor leaders and film and TV partners to break ground on a new production studio that will create almost 1,000 construction jobs and around 750 permanent, full-time jobs.
The construction on East End Studios Sunnyside commences following the end of both the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes, which shut down the film and TV industry for months, and just after construction began on Sunset Pier 94 Studios in Manhattan.
The production campus will be 340,000 square feet with three full-service, ground floor soundstages adding up to 75,000 square feet. It will also include a 15,000-square-foot rooftop flex stage boasting views of the Queens, Brooklyn and Manhattan skylines.
The project comes at a cost of about $275 million and is slated for completion by the first quarter of 2025.
