Written in 1791 Justine or The Misfortunes of Virtue by Donatien-Alphonse-François de Sade, better known as the Marquis de Sade, is one of the more infamous novels in the history of literature. But what else would you expect from the man whose name inspired the words sadism and sadistic?
Rather than filming it as a period piece director Alex Hernández and co-writer Juan Manuel Martinez have taken the same approach to Justine that Pasolini took when adapted De Sade’s Salò, or the 120 Days of Sodom. They’ve updated it and used it to look at more contemporary society. In doing so they’ve deviated from the source material much further than Pasolini did. They’ve basically taken one segment of the book and expanded it out to feature length,...

It is with great sadness we must report that indie horror actress Ameara Lavey, aged 34, died in Langley, British Columbia on September 1, in a tragic double homicide. Lavey's real name was Brandy Petrie and she is wellknown for three films directed by Lucifer Valentine; "ReGOREgitated Sacrifice", "Slow Torture Puke Chamber" and "Slaughtered Vomit Dolls" "When officers arrived, they found a man and woman suffering from gunshot wounds. The female victim, identified Tuesday as 34-year-old Brandy Petrie, died at the scene, while 20-year-old Avery Levely-Flescher died in hospital.", according to CTV News. Read full article here ...

It is no secret that the genre of horror is saturated, like a wet diaper, with films that should never really have been made, films that are so bad they’re, well, bad. I know that sometimes a film is made that is often a train-wreck yet manages to be entertaining, but surrounding those films exists a bunch of motion picture atrocities that fail on all levels, and those are the films I’ll be looking at in this column. Now, you might not agree with the films I mention here, you might even be a fan of some of them, and that’s fine, this is merely my personal opinions on what I feel are the true horror’s of the horror genre, the poison in the water supply that made me, when I saw them, want to Linda Blair my guts against the nearest wall. These are in...

There may be a slight possibility that standards for movie titles have become more lenient over the years, since we can't really fathom an action movie like this week's "Bullet to the Head" coming out in 1954 with a title like that. No sir.
The Sylvester Stallone vehicle does stick in your head for some reason, so we thought we'd dig in and find the most gruesome, lurid and downright threatening movie titles ever conceived. Remember, the criteria here ain't the violent content of the film itself, just its nastified handle.
15. '8 Million Ways to Die' (1986)
The unlikely combination of star Jeff Bridges, screenwriter Oliver Stone and director Hal Ashby ("Harold and Maude") came up with this neo-noir concoction, which failed to ignite at the box office and ultimately served as Ashby's swan song. The film itself has a pulpy, sub-"Miami Vice" plot about an alcoholic ex-detective drawn into a...

I recently came across this Vomit Gore Trilogy containing Slaughtered Vomit Dolls, ReGOREgitated Sacrifice, and Slow Torture Puke Chamber all written, directed, edited, and produced by Lucifer Valentine. Valentine is trying to create a new horror sub genre, which would be known as Vomit Gore, with these three films. I have yet to see the films, but I am not too sure I want to sit through, from what I hear, bad special effects, gore, and no plot f…...

Nick Peron finishes The Vomit Gore Trilogy this week. Read on for his finale. It sounds like he is ok, but at what costs.
For those who haven’t been paying attention I’ve been subjecting myself to Lucifer “Lucy” Valentine’s Vomit Gore Trilogy, which is a title that requires a spoiler alert. By this point I have watched the first two in the trilogy Slaughtered Vomit Dolls and reGOREgitated Sacrifice, both of which bored me to no end.
Ladies and gentlemen, here I stand in front of my television, it’s cheap Wal-Mart brand flat screen generating enough heat to warm my mostly naked body (I state this for any ladies reading, you’re welcome). In my hand is the last disc of the Vomit Gore Trilogy, with it’s crude crayon drawing of a grasshopper on the case. There are three things running through my mind right...

Nick Peron is a man that finishes what he started. Instead of stopping at the first entry of The Vomit Gore Trilogy, he continues on. He concludes this trilogy next Thursday.
We are back again for another edition of HorrorFAIL, with the second of our three part series looking at Lucifer Valentine’s Vomit Gore Trilogy. Here’s a quick recap: Back in 2008 I had the “pleasure” of watching Valentine’s first film Slaughtered Vomit Dolls, a nonsensical mess that involved blood and gore, and real honest-to-goodness vomiting. It was so boring me and the girl I was dating at the time ended up having sex during the course of the film.
Upon hearing that it was the first part of a trilogy of films I thought what a better selection for my HorrorFAIL series here at Destroy the Brain. Let’s take a look at Lucifer’s (or Lucy...

Nick Peron really went all out on this Horrorfail. So much that instead of just stopping after seeing the first entry, he decided he had to complete the trilogy. Part 2 of 3 will be posted next Thursday.
For the longest time, film maker Lucifer Valentine has boasted about his creation of films the Vomit Gore Trilogy. A self proclaimed Satanist, he appeared on the scene with his premiere film Slaughtered Vomit Dolls; A film that he claims was banned from “every” film festival it was submitted to because it was deemed “too disgusting” for public consumption (a little puking joke there). That is a bold claim to make considering the fact that we are living in the internet age where Google is your gateway to seeing the stuff of nightmares streamed right to your computer. Don’t believe me? Google Japanese Eel Porn. You’re welcome. Since then he has released...

Part I: Slaughtered Vomit Dolls
Most folks don't want to watch a movie called Slaughtered Vomit Dolls. Even fans of torture porn raise an eyebrow at that middle word - Vomit - and that's what makes the concept hilarious. Lucifer Valentine turns the sub genre on its head by adding an element of stark reality into the somewhat disturbing "hoot and holler" attitude of its fans - they're unable to high five one another during the fictional special effects kills because those hands are too busy covering eyes and plugging ears at the sound of another person puking their guts. When you hear someone throw up, it makes you want to throw up too - I've held womens' hair while they've done so drunkenly, and to avoid looking like a total wuss you need to go to your "happy place" to tune...

Horror films have a difficult obligation to fulfill.
Scaring people with a two dimensional picture isn't as easy as it looks, especially when the crowd you're attempting to spook consists of individuals who have seen it all a million times. I mean, how are you supposed to compete with the internet, which boasts the world's largest library of revolting phenomena? How are you supposed to compete with the nightly news and its harrowing tales of actual human beings butchered en masse by a seemingly cold and uncaring Machine Gun Hand? How do you scare the tune out/drop out next generation of alarmingly jaded bubble gum popping I-Pod heads?
Well, you have to be talented. Most film makers are not. Most film makers are mediocre, at best.
It didn't used to be this difficult. Back in the day, a black and white plastic skeleton could jingle jangle out of a...

Remember that the following is meant to make you want to see the movie: What happens to a woman when she is abused by her parents, becomes a runaway at the tender age of 14, is molested by a local priest who takes her in and is then used and abused by nearly everyone she comes into contact with? For Angela Aberdeen the answer is to turn away from the human race and all earthly reality by making a sacred pact with Satan. After enlisting his protection in return for her eternal soul, her first act is to burn down the priest s church as he lays passed out drunk on the floor. She then flees to the city where she develops a horrible addiction to alcohol and drugs. Angela quickly spirals downward in her journal to Hell. Stripping turns to pornography and prostitution and as her deadly addictions tear her body apart,...
