Killing off characters is always difficult, but not for Robert Kirkman. The Walking Dead co-creator reveals that he tends to remove fan-favorite figures from the narrative because too much investment in them might affect the flow of the story.

That being said, Kirkman absolutely prefers plot-driven tales. Unlike famed author George R.R. Martin, who is famous for killing off almost every character in the Game of Thrones saga, he gets rid of them because he wants the audience to feel the pain of death.

Robert Kirkman, the creator behind The Walking Dead comic book series, has an unexpected favorite character within the expansive universe. While many would assume that he would choose someone like Steven Yeun’s Glenn, Andrew Lincoln’s Rick Grimes, or any other impressive character from the original survivors, Rickman’s choice diverges significantly from popular opinion.

Despite the array of memorable heroes and villains introduced throughout the series, Kirkman’s preference surprisingly lands on Negan, one of the most brutal characters in the series.

The Walking Dead started as a comic series by Robert Kirkman, artists Tony Moore, and Charlie Adlard in 2003. Publishes primarily in black and white, the series ran for 193 issues before ending in 2019. AMC acquired the rights for the graphic novel from its creator in 2009, before spawning a full-fledged franchise of The Walking Dead.

Kirkman has also written the comic series for Invincible, which is currently busy producing the third season of its animated series on Amazon Prime. The Walking Dead started with the story of Rick Grimes played by Andrew Lincoln. As the story progressed, after 8 seasons leading the show, Lincoln said goodbye and made his exit in season 9 of the post-apocalyptic horror series. But that wasn’t the end of the story for either Rick Grimes or Andrew Lincoln. The star was preparing to join the cast of The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Lived.

And Black Panther star Danai Gurira was set to join the second movie in the trilogy, after exiting the show in season 10. But neither Lincoln nor the creators were happy to waste so much time before the character of Michonne, played by Gurira, could reunite with Grimes in the story.

The creator of The Walking Dead comics, Robert Kirkman may be a man of great imagination and invaluable talent but even legends like him often run into a roadblock in their creative journey. The resulting product often ends in a cul-de-sac that in hindsight looks as bleak as rain in the winters.

However, for Kirkman, the stars and moons aligned perfectly to ensure he fulfilled his destiny. So even though the comic genius served up a dose of X-Files-inspired drama along with his undead creation, in the end, it was his original vision that persevered and spawned a universe that is yet to die down in critical acclaim and fan frenzy.

Matthew Kic and Mike Sorce, rising scribes who have twice had scripts on the Black List, have been tapped to pen the screenplay for what is intended to be a live-action feature.

"Invincible" season 2 just wrapped (read our review here). While the long gap after season 1 slowed down the excitement, the second season kept the show's quality soaring higher than a Viltrumite.
"Invincible" may stream on Prime Video, but its origin story lies at Image Comics. Image was founded in 1992 as counter-programming to the Marvel/DC comics duopoly; the founders included '90s comic superstars like Rob Liefeld, Todd McFarlane, and Jim Lee (the man who rebranded the X-Men for the '90s). The "I" on Invincible's costume? It doesn't just stand for "Invincible," but "Image" too.
At Marvel and DC, the publishers own the characters and cycle out writers/artists at the popular ones. Image, on the other hand, specializes in creator-owned comics where writers and artists retain authority. That's why "Invincible" was personally created by Robert Kirkman, author of the comics. Invincible ended its second season with a bang. In the classic Multiverse of Madness-style, there is an entire sequence where Mark is thrown from one universe to another, each having some or the other Easter egg. From Spider-Man showing up in the form of Agent Spider, who was fighting Prof. Ock, to Invincible making fun of Batman’s name on a rooftop, this part of the episode was fun, to say the least.

On top of these references, there was also a universe plagued with zombies, making a not-so-subtle nod to just how many people from The Walking Dead are a part of the series. One would assume that one of these three cameos would be favored by the show’s creator, Robert Kirkman. However, it would seem that something else had him a lot more excited; a split-second cameo of a gun.

One of the biggest avenues of superhero entertainment might still be the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but one of the most popular and hyped-up has to go to Prime Video’s shows like Invincible and The Boys, which has captured the public eye and glued them to their platform.

As per the original plan of the showrunner, this series would’ve gone on for at most eight seasons until its inevitable conclusion. But now, according to Kirkman’s comments, it seems like the show is set to go on for a lot longer than what was planned, which could bring ruin to it like what happened with his other show The Walking Dead.

It appears Ezra Miller was quietly recast as mad scientist D.A. Sinclair in Season 2 of Prime Video’s Invincible.
Miller voiced the character in one episode in the first season of the adult animated series, but when Sinclair appeared in the March 28th episode, the character was voiced by Eric Bauza.
Deadline has reached out to Prime Video for comment.

The Walking Dead is over, but like the zombies at the heart (er, brains?) of the tale, the franchise lives on.
Clocking in at 11 seasons and 177 episodes all told, the AMC horror drama shuffled off into the afterlife, only to birth a bevy of spinoff shows, most of which center on beloved characters from the original series like the Rick (Andrew Lincoln) and Michonne (Danai Gurira) reunion series The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live. Beyond those continuing adventures, there are also the spinoffs without too many overt ties to the “flagship” Walking Dead, including the very first of these spinoffs, Fear the Walking Dead (also now in the grave, joined there by the two-seasons-and-out The Walking Dead: World Beyond and single season anthology series Tales of the Walking Dead).

Robert Kirkman, creator of superhero comic Invincible and producer for Amazon Prime Video’s adaptation of it, has heard all your complaints about the long wait between seasons 1 and 2. No like … really: he’s heard them all.
In just about every interview leading up to Invincible season 2 (including one with Den of Geek), Kirkman has dutifully addressed the 18 month delay between episodes and promised to make future waits shorter.
“This is a very complicated show,” Kirkman told ComicBook.com. “There’s a lot of work going into it. Making an animated series is kind of like assembling a factory and getting that factory running, and now that we have everything in place, this is going to be the longest gap there will ever be between seasons. From this point on, every gap between seasons will be smaller.”

J.K. Simmons, the voice actor of Omni-Man in Robert Kirkman’s Prime Video animated superhero series, has announced his top pick for the role of the Viltrumite in the Invincible live-action movie that’s still under development.
Fans have continued to throw names into the mix of actors to embody the title character and his father in the film since the announcement of the big-screen adaptation in 2017.

And now, courtesy of Simmons, we have another potential candidate, who the 69-year-old believes would be a proper fit for Nolan Grayson. That someone is none other than X-Men star Hugh Jackman. With ample experience in the superhero genre and enough gravitas to qualify for the complex role, Jackman’s foray into the Invincible world wouldn’t seem far-fetched or unrealistic.

The second part of Invincible Season 2 has started with a bang, and Steven Yeun, who voices the titular protagonist of the Prime Video series, is willing to see through the character’s development and the show’s future by being in it for the long haul.

The best comic book superheroes tend to stick around awhile. DC’s Batman has been fighting crime in Gotham City since 1939. Marvel’s Spider-Man has been slinging webs since 1962. Even the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, originally launched as a satire of the genre in 1984, are now an established squad and have been for some time.
Along with that longevity, however, often comes an uncertain continuity. There are dozens of versions of Batman, Spider-Man, and the Tmnt that exist across countless storylines in comics, television, film, and beyond. Exclusive: Walking Dead maker Skybound Entertainment has struck what it is calling a “first-of-its-kind” deal with Prime Video over a dystopian thriller series from Scandinavia.
Amazon has taken rights in the Nordics for Vaka but Skybound retains worldwide distribution and controls the show’s “global commissioning structure.” This means Skybound can strike deals with buyers and sellers in different territories while the door remains open for Prime Video to acquire Vaka for other regions further down the line.
Set in Stockholm and starring Aliette Opheim and Jonas Karlsson, Vaka follows the spread of a deadly insomnia epidemic. A disgraced minister must balance addressing the crisis and caring for his son, while an ambulance nurse goes to great lengths to save her lover.

Robert Kirkman is no less than a visionary in the comic book world. From creating the dystopian apocalyptic world of The Walking Dead to creating the spectacular one-of-a-kind superhero tale with The Invincible comics, Kirkman has many astounding credits to his name. Yet that is not all that he should be praised for, it is thanks to the subsequent transmedia adaptation of The Walking Dead that gave impetus to the creation of many more transmedia adaptations.

This post contains spoilers for the premiere of "The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live."
They finally did it. Just moments into the premiere episode of the new series "The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live," right after audiences catch a glimpse of hero Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) for the first time in over five years, the poor man finally loses a hand.
It's a twist that's been a long time coming for fans of Robert Kirkman, Tony Moore, and Charlie Adlard's "Walking Dead" comic books, yet this new spinoff series manages to make it feel utterly shocking nonetheless. In the original comics, cop-turned-world-weary apocalypse survivor Rick gets a surprise amputation courtesy of The Governor as early as issue 28. In the AMC "Walking Dead" universe, however, The Governor came and went an entire decade ago, with David Morrisey in the role of the eye-patch-wearing villain.
In the years since Morrisey's departure,...

There are a few iconic moments every Walking Dead fan knows right off the top of their head. Like the fall of the prison or Negan’s arrival via a bloody baseball bat. But those who only watch the AMC TV series, the ones who never read the comic books from Robert Kirkman and Charlie Adlard, missed out on one of the biggest milestones from the comics: Rick Grimes losing his hand, cleaved off during his first meeting with The Governor.
These days, in the live-action version of the Walking Dead universe, the Governor is long gone. Now, finally, so is Rick’s hand.
In the opening minutes of The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live, Andrew Lincoln makes his triumphant return as Rick Grimes, last seen presumably killed in action (but actually alive, if not well, in a helicopter headed...

Rober Kirkman, the creator of Invincible, has recently stated that Omni-Man, one of the leads of the show can easily defeat the all-mighty Superman. Although both of them are from different universes and franchises, this sudden claim will surely throw the entire DC Universe into a frenzy. But even though it might seem impossible to beat Superman, there may be some weight behind those words.
Omni-Man is not just a warrior. He is the scion of a warrior race—Viltrumites. Imagine Kryptonians but with a conqueror’s heart and bred for domination over all the galaxy. Their world, intoxicated with violence, prioritizes strength and ruthlessness. Omni-Man, though powerful, is just one cog in a vast, expansionist machine, sent to Earth as part of a larger Viltrumite plan.

Comic book writer Robert Kirkman reportedly came under fire again for saying that his Invincible character Omni-Man would win in a fight against Superman. The comic book series, which has been adapted into an animated show by Amazon Prime Video has been garnering positive responses all around.
Kirkman’s creation Omni-Man is a similar all-powerful being in the known universe in the Invincible world. Omni-Man is similar to Superman in many ways, with both being alien entities who have escaped their home worlds to be on Earth and have superhuman abilities. Despite the similarities, fans seem to disagree with Robert Kirkman about Omni-Man winning the hypothetical battle.
