Nickelodeon, it would appear, loves Sanjay and Craig as much as everyone else as it is giving the freshman series the chance to strut around with a second season renewal. There’s no denying the animated comedy is a little on the silly side – there’s plenty of gross jokes and slapstick humor – but it’s also smart in the way it doesn’t treat its target audience like, well, kids. It doesn’t talk down to anyone and just simply is. Because of that, there are some adults who give the series their blessing. That’s pretty awesome when you think about it. Few children’s programs can be tolerated by grown ups.
According to THR, Sanjay and Craig was given a 20 episode order for its second season, just in time for the final eight episodes of Season 1 to begin airing – Sept. 14 is date the series returns after taking a two month break.

This Saturday at 10:30am Et, Nickelodeon premieres Sanjay and Craig, a new animated series that shares DNA with Bob’s Burgers, Pete & Pete and Freaks and Geeks — and TVLine has a sneak peek.
Presenting yet another take on the age-old story of a young boy and his talking snake — voiced by Maulik Pancholy (30 Rock) and Chris Hardwick (The Nerdist) — Sanjay and Craig was created by Jay Howell (Bob’s Burgers), Jim Dirschberger and Andreas Trolf, all of whom claim Nick’s popular Adventures of Pete & Pete among their influences. What if Calvin and Hobbes weren’t a duo comprised of a young boy and his toy tiger, but rather of a young boy and his pet snake? That’s the premise Nickelodeon’s new animated offering, Sanjay and Craig, which is uniting actors from top shows like 30 Rock, Arrested Development and Breaking Bad.
Sanjay and Craig is produced by the same creators of another animated jaunt, The Adventures of Pete & Pete. If you remember than one, than you’ll also remember that it wasn’t only kids who found it amusing. Likewise, Sanjay and Craig hopes to woo young adults and “their young nieces and nephews,” also, reported EW.
Drawing comparisons with Disney’s Phineas and Ferb, which I’ll admit I’ve watched a few times and enjoyed, Sanjay and Craig will trace the misadventures of a daring 12-year-old “dreamer” named Sanjay, voiced by 30 Rock alum Maulik Pancholy,...

There is a tremendously crucial documentary somewhere in James Dirschberger's "Honest Man: The Life of R. Budd Dwyer." Unfortunately, if honesty is to be celebrated here, I have to admit there's a pretty weak film wrapped around the few minutes of truly interesting material. For those unfamiliar with either infamous deaths or Pennsylvania politics, Budd Dwyer was the state treasurer who shot himself during a press conference in 1987 and whose graphic death was aired on many news stations--not live--on the day. Even if you're not a fan of "Faces of Death" type compilations, or a morbidly curious Googler, you've…...
