There has been one person missing from the CNN New Year’s Eve 2024 celebration, according to fans, and that is Don Lemon!
The news anchor is not ringing in the new year on this year’s broadcast, and is instead spending the time with his fiancé Tim Malone in Maimi, Fla.
“Happy New Years!” Don captioned a photo with his longtime love.
Don‘s non-appearance on the CNN telecast is due to him being fired from the network earlier this year, amid allegations of misogyny and bad behavior.

This year, CNN has Boris Sanchez reporting from Miami on the broadcast, and they have Randi Kaye reporting in Key West, Fla.

CNN will bring Anderson Cooper and Andy Cohen together for the fourth year in a row for “CNN New Year’s Eve,” where the two hosts will undoubtedly fill the night reflecting on the insane year that was 2020. When Anderson Cooper and Andy Cohen try to show CNN viewers the sights and sounds of New Year’s Eve in Times Square this year, they will face one of their biggest challenges: There won’t be any.
The throngs of people who come to see the fabled ball drop in what is billed as New York’s “Crossroads of the World” won’t be in attendance, due to concerns about the coronavirus pandemic. For Cooper and Cohen, however, the show must go on.
People at home will want to watch and ring out a terrible year, says Cooper. “We want it to be a New Year’s Eve without all the mishegoss. You don’t have to have all the sturm and drang. CNN received harsh criticism over the weekend after airing a segment asking Republican women in Florida their opinions of the sexual misconduct allegation currently swirling round Judge Brett Kavanaugh. All five women offered robust defenses of Kavanaugh, seemingly to the surprise of CNN reporter Randi Kaye.
On Twitter, many pointed out that at least two of the women were high placed Republicans operatives and said CNN should have been more transparent and said they were more than just ordinary voters.
In a viral thread Sunday, author and columnist James Surowiecki laid out the case.

CNN’s Randi Kaye reported on the mysterious disappearance of Madeleine McCann back in 2007 and returned to the scene of the crime to examine one of the world’s first viral mysteries after remaining unsolved for a decade. Poor Randi Kaye. The CNN reporter was sent to Denver for a week as part of the network's "Gone to Pot" series, and in one of her later segments investigated dispensary tours that are being compared to Napa Valley wine tastings.
Kaye followed around a 72-year-old woman named Barbara Harvey, who is a huge fan of marijuana, and joined Harvey on a day-long dispensary tour where she spent much of her time in a limo being surrounded by people smoking marijuana with the windows rolled up. The CNN journalist tells Anderson Cooper she accidentally got a contact high after being stuck in a limo with Harvey for so long, though Cooper believes this is her "career highlight."
At around the 4:30 mark in the above video, viewers can see Kaye in all her stoned glory. Kaye is all giggles and run-on sentences when talking about the cannabis business post-pot legalization in Colorado.
