The Smithsonian Institute has screened "How Sweet the Sound", a documentary produced by Ms. Orndoff, as part of their Smithsonian 2019 Year of Music in Washington, DC. Ms. Orndoff co-directed and co-edited "How Sweet the Sound" with internationally-recognized, two-time Academy Award nominee, Morten Parker.
The Smithsonian has acquired this film, centering on an evening of Appalachian gospel music at the home of serpent-handling believers, along with a collection of 400 photographs and 10 hours of video footage by Ms. Orndoff, for their permanent collections.
The New York (Emmys) Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences screened "How Sweet the Sound" as part of their Meet the Filmmaker series.
Paula Orndoff's production experience includes producer, director, writer, editor, and camerawoman on numerous independent projects. She has worked at Hallmark Entertainment (at that time the world's largest producer and distributor of television movies and mini-series) on half a dozen television movies and mini-series under the aegis of David V. Picker. She has worked for Discovery Communications, Turner Broadcasting, and PBS.
As an actress, she appeared in numerous stage productions - New York, London, Dublin, Edinburgh, etc. - commercials, daytime dramas, and voice-overs. She was a member of AEA (Actors Equity Association) and SAG/AFTRA.
