Four survivor-led advocacy organizations — including those founded by former Fox News anchor Gretchen Carlson and California Governor Gavin Newsom’s wife and filmmaker Jennifer Siebel Newsom — published a letter and report on Wednesday calling for the music business to take further action regarding sexual misconduct across the industry.
The report, titled “Sound Off: The Make Music Safe Report” compiled decades of previously disclosed allegations against over two dozen prominent artists and industry executives such as Sean “Diddy” Combs, Axl Rose, Anti-Flag’s Justin Geever, composer Danny Elfman, former Def Jam head Russell Simmons,...

Nottingham (England), July 22 (Ians) Premier League club Nottingham Forest on Saturday announced the signing of Nigeria defender Ola Aina on a one-year deal following the expiry of his contract at Italian side Torino.
The 26-year-old Aina, who spent nearly five years with Torino and made 102 appearances in Serie A, is Forest’s first signing of the summer.
“The Nigeria international has put pen-to-paper on a one-year deal to become Forest’s first signing of the summer, with options for the future also agreed in the contract,” the club said in a statement.
Aina, who played for England in every age group from under-16 to under-20, has received 30 international caps for Nigeria since pledging allegiance to the Super Eagles in 2017.
Born in London, the former Chelsea academy graduate joined the Blues at the under-11 level, progressing through the ranks at Stamford Bridge and winning two Fa Youth Cups, two UEFA Youth...

London, April 28 (Ians) Manchester City can go to the top of the Premier League, albeit for just over 48 hours when they visit Fulham on Sunday afternoon, while league leader Arsenal doesn’t play Chelsea until Tuesday evening.
City produced one of the best displays of the season to beat Arsenal in a game that most consider to be a title decider on Wednesday night, with Kevin De Bruyne and Erling Haaland running riot against a rival that was a yard slower in key moments.
The 4-1 win didn’t flatter Pep Guardiola’s side, but it will count for little unless they are able to take three points from their visit to play Fulham at Craven Cottage.
Guardiola played a more direct football against Arsenal, using Haaland’s power to control long passes, but could return to their more common passing game against a rival likely to sit much deeper than Arsenal did,...

London, April 25 (Ians) Manchester City hosts Arsenal on Wednesday night in what promises to be the decisive match of this season’s Premier League.
City goes into the match five points behind the league leaders but with two games in hand, and a repeat of their triumph at the Emirates Stadium earlier this campaign would leave them just two points behind their rivals.
Arsenal fought back from 2-0 and 3-1 down to take a point against Southampton on Friday but has conceded seven goals in three games. The bad news for coach Mikel Arteta is that defender William Saliba is unlikely to have recovered from his back injury to be able to play, while a hamstring problem will sideline City’s Nathan Ake.

London, April 17 (Ians) Arsenal’s lead at the top of the Premier League was cut to four points over Manchester City, who have a game in hand, after a dramatic afternoon saw them draw 2-2 at West Ham’s London Stadium.
Arsenal looked to be cruising to a comfortable win when Gabriel Jesus put them ahead over David Moyes’ strugglers after seven minutes, and Martin Odegaard doubled the lead three minutes later, reports Xinhua.
West Ham dug in and got back into the match in the 33rd minute, thanks to Said Benrahma’s penalty. Bukayo Saka had the chance to again extend Arsenal’s lead from the penalty spot in the 52nd minute but sent his effort well wide.
That was a decisive miss, as West Ham went down the other end and Jarrod Bowen scored what turned out to be the final goal of the game, although Michail Antonio...

London, April 14 (Ians) Something has to give in the Premier League on Saturday lunchtime when Aston Villa entertain Newcastle United in what promises to be a vital game in the battle for Europe.
Newcastle travel to Villa Park with five wins in their last five matches, while Aston Villa climbed up to sixth last weekend after their fourth consecutive win, as they continue to improve under the guidance of Unai Emery. Aston Villa will be without influential forward Leon Bailey with a thigh injury but have Ollie Watkins in form with nine goals in 11 games.
Tottenham will be watching that result closely ahead of their home game against Bournemouth, who have shown their battling qualities in recent weeks.
Harry Kane and Son Heung-min will again be Tottenham’s main threat as they continue their efforts for a top-four finish, a Xinhua report said.

Coming soon to L.A.: the end of gas appliances in new construction. As voted on by the Los Angeles City Council in May and set to start Jan. 1, 2023 (in a tiered phase-out), no new buildings, including residences, may include gas stoves, water heaters, furnaces or gas-powered clothes dryers. Following in the footsteps of Berkeley, San Francisco and Santa Monica, the move is an effort to reduce the use of fuels that generate greenhouse gases and contribute to climate change.
Already, though, some Los Angeles designers and their clients are shifting to electric-powered induction stovetops and finding they love the cooking experience. “Induction is the best,” says chef Ludo Lefebvre (Petit Trois), who first cooked with induction at L.A. Live’s All Star Chef Classic in 2014. “It’s fast. It’s powerful. It provides even heat,” he says. “And it’s safe.

The fortunes of the global record industry can be neatly summed up in three stats: Its peak came in 1999, back when Ricky Martin was Livin’ La Vida Loca, as the world’s record companies generated nearly $29 billion; by the close of 2013, according to Ifpi data, that number had been slashed in half, falling to below $15 billion; and last year, thanks to growth almost entirely driven by streaming, it had recovered to just over $19 billion – an upswing from the industry’s nadir, but still roughly $10 billion off the peak of the CD boom.

The BBC zombie series, In The Flesh, continues in May and we have a look at new footage from the upcoming episodes. While we don’t have a UK release date at this time, it has been confirmed that it will premiere on BBC America on Saturday, May 10th at 10:00pm. For those who are unfamiliar with the series, here’s a brief overview of the first season:
“The series follows zombie teenager Kieren Walker and his reintegration back into both the local community and the heart of his family. After his suicide four years ago, his friends and family thought they’d never see Kieren again. But then, shortly after his funeral, thousands rose from the dead; and after months of re-habilitation and medication, the zombies, now known as Pds (Partially Deceased Syndrome) sufferers, are gradually being returned to their homes. When Kieran returns, he is forced to confront his family,...

The expanded six-episode new season of "In the Flesh" will debut on Saturday, May 10th, at 10/9c immediately following a new episode of "Orphan Black," only on BBC America.

"In the Flesh" creator Dominic Mitchell reignites the world of teenager Kieren Walker (Luke Newberry), a Pds (Partially Deceased Syndrome) sufferer who continues in his struggle to find acceptance. The six-parter is a BBC America co-production with BBC Drama Production North.

From its outset, BBC Three's new Sunday night drama In The Flesh had to face high expectations - taking on the time-slot previously allocated to long-running cult favourite Being Human is pressure enough, but with Us zombie offering The Walking Dead smashing cable TV records across the pond, there was something of an onus on new writer Dominic Mitchell's three-parter to prove that it had something different to offer.
In The Flesh is certainly different, but taking liberties with 'classic' zombie mythology was also a risk. If - like this writer - you prefer your zombies in the mindless, shambling mould established by George A Romero, then talk of flesh-eaters that "evolve" might leave you hankering for your Night of the Living Dead two-disc special edition.
For the most part though, the opening instalment of this very British take on the genre works. It's a rather unsettling mixture of...
