Will Jeffrey Jones appear in Tim Burton’s hugely anticipated Beetlejuice sequel, Beetlejuice Beetlejuice?
That’s the question on the mind of eagle-eyed fans of the upcoming Warner Bros. film’s trailer, who noticed a glimpse of the actor on a headstone in a funeral scene. But a rep for Jones confirms to The Hollywood Reporter that the actor does not appear in Beetlejuice Beetlejuice.
The funeral is attended by Catherine O’Hara (playing Delia Deetz, second wife of Jones’ Charles Deetz in the original film), Winona Ryder (Lydia Deetz, Charles’ daughter with his first, deceased wife) and Jenna Ortega (a newcomer to the franchise, who plays Astrid Deetz, Lydia’s teenage daughter).
In Beetlejuice, Charles is a big-city real estate developer who buys a Connecticut home after the previous owners — the Maitlands, played by Alec Baldwin and Geena Davis — die in a car accident.

That’s the first thing I say to Eddie Van Halen, the legendary guitarist and co-namesake of the rock band Van Halen. Rather, that’s the first thing I say to someone who possibly is but probably isn’t Eddie Van Halen. I mean, who am I kidding? There’s no way the real Eddie Van Halen’s email address should be available for anyone to find in a public database — and it sure as shit shouldn’t be an America Online account.

Sitcom superstar Kunal Nayyar, in recent years one of the highest paid actors on television due to his lucrative, long-running role on “The Big Bang Theory,” and his wife, former Miss India turned fashion designer Neha Kapur, have hung a not quite $4 million price tag on their remarkably private former home that is discreetly tucked into a quiet, little-known pocket of the star-studded Nichols Canyon area of L.A’s Hollywood Hills. Nayyar and Kapur acquired the secluded compound about 8.5 years ago for $2.85 million. Previous owners of the property include actor Jeffrey Duncan Jones, best known as hilariously humiliated Dean of Students Ed Rooney in the seminal 1986 comedy “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off”.

Daybreak showrunner Aron Eli Coleite shares how Matthew Broderick came to the role of Principal Burr and what’s next for the character.
Warning: This interview contains spoilers for season 1 of Daybreak.
Fans of the post apocalyptic teen comedy Daybreak were no doubt initially lured to the show in part by the inclusion of Matthew Broderick in the cast because of the clear nod to his role as the original fourth wall breaking protagonist Ferris Bueller in Ferris Bueller's Day Off with the narrative style of Colin Ford’s Josh Wheeler in this series. But how did the producers and the network convince Broderick to take on this offbeat character in such an unconventional young adult sci-fi offering? Co-creator and showrunner Aron Eli Coleite shared with us the impetus for the casting and what might be in Principal Burr’s future should there be a Daybreak season...

In films, we’re supposed to hate the antagonist of the movie because he/she is opposed to the hero. Our sympathies are meant to go with the star of the film, even if he/she acts questionably at times. But there are times when the hero is wrong and the bad guy is right. Here is a list of six (supposed) villains who could actually be seen as the good guys if you look at the plot from a different point-of-view.
Roy Batty from Blade Runner (1982): Roy was the leader of the rogue Nexus 6 Replicants (Bio-androids) who escaped from the Off-World colonies, killing several people on their way back to Earth. Blade Runners (Replicant hunters) are sent to find and “retire” (kill) them. First Holden is sent but gets shot and then Deckard is pulled back into the service of the Blade Runners to find Batty and the others.

We’re still a few years away from being able to hop a quick flight into space (after our self-driving car parks itself in the terminal), but if you want to feel like you’re standing on another planet, you should watch the Ferris Bueller TV show. Created for NBC’s lineup in 1990, it’s an odd pop cultural artifact that plays like a window into an alternative universe that somehow exists in our own without melting all physical laws into shoe-ruining mud. In it, Charlie Schlatter is Ferris Bueller, Jennifer Aniston is his pissy sister Jeannie, and Richard Riehle (before he became rich inventing the Jump To Conclusions Mat) is the stuffy Principal Ed Rooney. The natural response is that these are impostors, that you’re somehow being tricked, and that instinctive mindset colors everything that the show does. It would probably be even stranger if the characters felt right while not looking right, but...

Now that Joe and his Followingers are happily nested in the Joe Carroll Dream House, the show - and Emma, in particular - seems to want to pretend that the previous seven weeks never happened. It's a whole new show, with a whole new cast and a whole new focus! The only true constant is, of course, the familiar face of star Kevin Bacon - which, like a trusty, well-worn baseball mitt, is always ready to catch whatever curveball the show throws his way.
Let's see if Ep. 8 got it over the plate, shall we?
Okay, so they Finally changed the intro, after I complained last week. Is someone up there listening?
Joe (James 100%PureFoy) tells Joe Junior (Don'tKnow Don'tCare) that he knows that he is afraid of him, but he hopes that will change. Good luck with that. And Joe Junior (Joeliet?), thanks for coming to work - you can go home now,...

Do you like a little nostalgia with your pigskin? A new teaser for a Super Bowl commercial will most likely have you singing "Cheekah Bow Bow" and jumping over fences in slow motion.
A mysterious YouTube user, "chuckachucka2012," uploaded a ten-second preview of a Super Bowl ad featuring Matthew Broderick as his most iconic character, Ferris Bueller.
Dressed in a bathrobe, Ferris throws open the curtains and asks the camera in his signature style, "How can I handle work on a day like today?"
Check out the ad after the jump!
That's all we get. There is no other information other than a "2.5.12," the date of the big game when the Giants of New York take on the Patriots of New England. The video's details make no mention of the company behind the ad nor what they plan on selling. As of now, the spot is a complete mystery.

David Lavau is a survivor but more importantly a genius. After he swerved off of a California mountain road, his car landed in a canyon. But he wasn’t alone! Next to his car was another car in the same predicament. And in the driver’s seat? A corpse. It took only Five Days. Five. Days. (Read this in the style of Ed Rooney’s “Nine Times”) for his family to realize he was gone. But once his daughter Chardonnay Hooker was on the case, Dad was found. I’m sorry? What’s that? Yes. Beauty Maven Marci Robin tweeted me the above image on the most holiest of days, Thanksgiving, and I haven’t been able to get it out of my head since. Chardonnay Hooker is the most brilliant name in the English language. I’m almost a little jealous of it. Here is video of David’s ordeal,...

"What is so dangerous about a character like Ferris Bueller is he gives good kids bad ideas." - Ed Rooney
"Ferris Bueller's Day Off," teen bard John Hughes' timeless ode to seizing the moment, is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year. That's 25 years of playing hooky, singing "Danke Schön" and impersonating Abe Froman. The 1986 comedy continues to strike such a deep chord because its trio of resourceful high schoolers represents more than just a case of senioritis -- it's about taking time out to smell the roses, even in Chicago.
Just to recap for the three or four of you who haven't seen it, "Ferris Bueller" centers on the perpetually cool title character (played with joyful, fourth-wall-breaking precision by Matthew Broderick) for whom the stars always seem to align. Everything is not so perfect for his best friend Cameron (Alan Ruck), who revels in a catatonic stupor after suffering...

A lot of our modern popular saying and ideas come from movies. We are a movie saturated society and it shows in everything we do. Some films are more memorable than others and have a longer shelf life when it comes to repeating key lines.
We thought we'd make up a list of the top 10 most quotable movies of all time. It was an extensive list and extremely difficult to narrow down. We could only pick 10, so we did it based on number of memorable quotes and impact of those quotes.
What movies make your list?
10. Clueless:
Tai: "no s*^t, you guys got coke here?!"
Cher: "well yeah, this is america" Tai: Why am I even listening to you to begin with? You're a virgin that can't drive! Cher: You know how picky I am about my shoes, and they only go on my feet. Cher: Oh look,...

Thanks to the likes of Ed Rooney, Dolores Umbridge, Mr. McAllister and many other epically awful instructors, the national education system has made going to the movies an outright blast over the years. Now joining their ranks is one Elizabeth Halsey in 'Bad Teacher,' whose classroom offenses give her profession nearly as bad a rap as 'Waiting for Superman' did. Smokin' doobies, beating on kids, taking bribes from parents -- you name it, she's done it. But as good as that all sounds from the outset, does it finally make corporal punishment funny?
Well, go ahead and hit the jump to find out.

There’s a line in Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, which swept into theaters 25 years ago tomorrow, in which flustered principal Ed Rooney (Jeffrey Jones) laments to his glue-sniffing secretary (Edie McClurg), “What is so dangerous about a character like Ferris Bueller is he gives good kids bad ideas.”
Rooney, of course, was right. If you were a teenager in 1986, Bueller’s on-screen exploits provided vicarious rebellion for kids who were naturally more Cameron Frye than Ferris. The idea of hacking the school’s computer, playing hooky, cruising to the city in a Ferrari convertible, impersonating a police officer, catching a Cubs game,...

Have you ever wished there was a sequel to one of your favourite films, but you were worried that maybe the filmmakers would just screw it up? Or are you confident that there’s a surprising story further down the road for that character that demands a Rocky to Rocky Balboa type lurch out of retirement? Maybe sometimes it seems like a pipe dream that these fantasy sequels will happen, but strangely and occasionally – they happen by accident.
I was first struck by the notion of ‘Imaginary Sequels’ when I finally got around to watching Ferris Bueller’s Day Off about five or six years ago, and as I watched the film I had this strange bizarre feeling that Alexander Payne’s film Election (also starring Matthew Broderick) was the sequel to this film.

Ferris Bueller’s Day Off is one of our all-time favorite films (only slipping behind The Sound Of Music by a hair), so it’s with a heavy heart that we point out the fact that, in case you hadn’t heard, Principal Ed Rooney is a dirty old man. Jeffrey Jones, the actor who played the principal outsmarted by the smoothest high schooler there ever was, was arrested back in 2003 for paying to take explicit photos of a 14-year-old. Since then, he has had to register himself as a sex offender each year. To be honest, we think registering yourself as a sex offender once a year is even easier than taking a once-monthly Boniva pill that Sally Field and her bendy bones love so much. I have to do something one time every year? To stay out of prison? Not a problem! Except that it is. Jones didn’t register himself last year,...

Good thing Jeffrey Jones isn't a principal in real life. Because we're not too sure we'd want another year under his close, personal supervision. The actor, who played deranged headmaster Ed Rooney in Ferris Bueller's Day Off, pleaded guilty today to one felony count of failing to update his California sex-offender registration, E! News has learned. Pucker up, butter-cup. As a result of his slip-up, according to Los Angeles D.A. spokeswoman Sandi Gibbons, Jones was sentenced to three years' formal probation and is required to perform 250 hours of community service, most likely picking up trash along roadways. "He'll be making freeway pumpkins," said Gibbons,...

Who doesn’t like Steve Carell, or Paul Rudd, for that matter? Two of the coolest guys in comedy are back this Friday, July 30th in a new movie called Dinner For Schmucks, directed by Jay Roach. The movie also stars Zack Galafinakis, who’s also cool, in his own “wolf pack of one” sort of way. Not heard of it? Schmuck! But, no… seriously, the movie looks incredibly funny. So, we’ve decided to honor the cinematic schmucks, the best of them have made our Top Ten Tuesday list this week.

A more unprincipled principal you'd be hard-pressed to find. Jeffrey Jones, the erstwhile dean Ed Rooney from Ferris Bueller's Day Off, was arrested and charged with a felony count after he failed to update his registration as a sex offender. Jones was arrested on June 23 for failing to renew his California registration within the required five days of his last birthday, which, incidentally, was all the way back in September. It's the second time Jones has been caught out (well…third if you count his first horrific crime), as he was also arrested back in 2004 after failing to inform authorities he changed his address. The 63-year-old netted first the heinous charge back in...

Adam Brody's The O.C. put a spotlight on many pop-alt bands during its run, especially Death Cab For Cutie and a young musical tribe called Rooney. Named after Ed Rooney--everyone's favorite principal from Ferris Bueller's Day Off--Rooney has amassed major chart success, hit singles, memorable videos, song placement ranging from the Tiger Woods' PGA Tour 2004 video game to the soap opera All My Children and Gossip Girl, and three rowdy, unpretentious albums full of clever lyrics and hook-filled melodies. Rooney's lead vocalist/guitarist Robert Schwartzman and vocalist/drummer Ned Brower offered the following observations in an interview about their new album Eureka. Mike Ragogna: Let's start at the end of your new album, Eureka. "Don't Look At Me" seems to have the opposite message of the first track, "Holding On." Was it sequenced last for that purpose? Robert Schwarzman: For me, sometimes it's like.

There are people in the world who flip through to the end of a book or peruse spoiler blogs in order to learn how a story ends before it's even over. Sometimes in the film world it's a practice that can come in handy — particularly when there's a secret scene after a movie's credits that the viewer didn't know to stick around for.
These scenes — often referred to in the industry as "stingers" — come in varying degrees of importance and brilliance, but more often than not, the scenes are quite memorable. Because the post-credits scene of "Iron Man 2" became public knowledge today (assuming you're interested in reading such things), we got to thinking about some of our own favorite stingers.

Today is Administrative Professionals Day, a time when we celebrate all of the hard work put in by administrative assistants, receptionists and other key front-office positions. There's a lengthy history in film of great receptionists, men and women who weather abuse, juggle unpredictable schedules and occasionally go above and beyond, all in the name of pleasing their bosses in one way or another. So I'm here to take a moment to recognize these brave fictional souls who put up with so much and frequently get so little in return.
Lee Holloway -- "Secretary"
You can't have an Administrative Professionals' Day movie list without making some reference to Maggie Gyllenhaal's starring role in "Secretary." She plays Lee Holloway, a young women recovering from emotional issues severe enough to cause her to harm herself. She lands a job in the front-office of an attorney (James Spader) with whom she begins having Bdsm relationship.

Rating: 7.5/10
Writers: Vincenzo Natali, Antoinette Terry Bryant & Doug Taylor (screenplay), Vincenzo Natali & Antoinette Terry Bryant (story) Director: Vincenzo Natali Cast: Sarah Polley, Adrien Brody, Delphine Chanéac
It might be cheap to say that if you enjoy David Cronenberg, you should enjoy Splice (using one man’s art to describe another’s). But there are obvious similarities between Splice and a large body of Cronenberg’s work (if you get the pun, I’m glad that you love Cronenberg too). The big one being a body used to create horror. But in this film, the body was never completely human.
Of course, if Splice was just a straight up rip-off of Cronenberg’s films it wouldn’t work because the two would be too similar. However, Splice director Vincenzo Natali is able to have his own fun while giving a respectful nod to master Cronenberg and his other influences.

With Diablo Cody’s new high school horror film Jennifer’S Body tearing it’s way onto screens this Friday and school itself getting back into session, it’s the perfect opportunity to honor that age old character staple of high school movies, the one that everyone loves to hate, the bane of teenage existence… the high school principle! (Make believe, of course, no offense to any high school principles who may be reading this… or, not!) We’ve decided to take a look back on all the great movies about high school and compile a list of our most favorite of the less-than-favorable members of the cinematic school staff.

As students everywhere begin to go back to schools, colleges and universities it seems everyone’s talking about teachers. You know, those inspiring adults we look up to in stuffy classrooms to teach us what we need to know. This week two separate polls have looked at the idea of celebrity teachers and found the best of the bunch. Coming in top as the best movie teacher is Jack Black for his role in The School of Rock, and unsurprisingly Robert Pattinson has come top in a poll of student’s fantasy teachers.
