Natalie Wood's sister fears for the life of her troubled niece Courtney, insisting the 38 year old has "spiralled out of control".
Courtney Wagner - the daughter of actor Robert Wagner and the late Rebel Without a Cause beauty Wood - was arrested on 22 April on suspicion of cocaine and heroin possession after cops were called to her California home to investigate reports of a domestic disturbance and the sound of gunfire. She was released after posting $10,000 (£6,250) bail.
And now the tragic icon's sister and Diamonds Are Forever actress Lana Wood has opened up about her grave concerns for Courtney, admitting the she turned to drugs once cops reopened the case into her famous mother's drowning last year.
She tells the National Enquirer, "My sister would be devastated if she knew how Courtney has ruined her life. She was Natalie's golden girl - the child she always longed for with R. J. (Wagner)... She was a stunning child and just so young when Natalie died. Both parents doted on her. But R.J.'s love hasn't saved her from a life that's spiralled out of control...
"She was rushed to the hospital some years ago after attempting suicide, but in the past few years the poor girl has become an emotional tragedy. For a time she was receiving psychiatric care... This is a terrible tragedy."
Natalie passed away in November, 1981, when Courtney was just seven years old. The investigation into her drowning death off the coast of California death has since been ruled a cold case.
