Hey, your shoelaces are untied. Here, let me help you…and, there ya go. They’ll never become untied again. Why? Because I tied ’em with a Slipknot! Oh, wait, sorry, my sources are telling me you can’t actually tie shoes with a slipknot, but they’re also not helping me come up with anything clever, so what am I supposed to do?
In any case, Corey Taylor, lead singer of the masked creepy metal band, does more than just rock out looking like Michael Myers’ cousin. In fact, he’s finished up a horror movie script and is now actively looking to make the project a reality.
Speaking to both Kerrang! and Rolling Stone, Taylor’s been ecstatic about 2020, which seems like it’s going to be quite the fruitful year for the multihypenate. He’s leading Slipknot still and Stone Sour, two Grammy-winning bands, working on what...

Ozzy Osbourne has always delighted in playing dealmaker with his audiences: “The crazier you fuckers go, the longer we play,” he told the crowd at Allentown, Pennsylvania’s Ppl Center several times on Thursday night. Looking around, though, he may have been the craziest one there. Although the 10,000 or so fans screamed, clapped their hands, chanted “Ozzy, Ozzy, Ozzy” like sports fans and even peppered in the random, heart-spilling “I love you, Ozzy” from the upper seats — by all metrics the kind of crowd any performer would kill for — he...

If ever a band deserved more publicity, it’s Stone Sour. They’ve forever been thrown into the shadow of Corey Taylor’s more famous “other” band, Slipknot, meaning that they have far too frequently just been referred to as his side-project, or as “Slipknot-lite”. It’s pretty depressing.
Stone Sour fans know this isn’t the case. First of all, because there isn’t actually any comparison to be made. They’re different bands. And secondly, because Stone Sour have some of the most incredible songs to have been released in metal in the twenty-first century so far. Corey is a stunning vocalist, Josh is an exceptional guitarist, and the other musicians that have orbited the band (Roy, Jim, Christian, Johny, Rami, Joel, Shawn, Jason and Mike) are all truly gifted too.

I love visiting New York City, and New York Comic Con is one of my favorite shows. I always have a great time, and this year was no exception. One other thing that remains consistent every year I go is that it all goes by in a total whirlwind blur, and I can barely remember all the things I saw and did, or when they occurred.
But for you, my faithful readers who may not have been able to attend, I’ll try to remember some of the best parts of the weekend, and, as Inigo Montoya would say, “sum up.” So here we go! In no particular order, some of the coolest experiences I had in NYC:
I saw First Date, the Broadway musical starring Zachary Levi, and it was fantastic. I also interviewed Zac at The Nerd Machine booth during the con – so stay tuned for my review...

New comic book Wednesday has come and gone. The dust at your local comic shop has settled. An eerie silence descends as you finish reading your last superhero book of the week. Now it's time for something a little more sinister. Welcome to Bagged and Boarded: comic reviews of the sick, spooky, twisted and terrifying! Five Ghosts: The Haunting of Fabian Gray No. 5 Fabian Gray is a brave, adventuring treasure hunter who fights against Nazis and sleeps with beautiful women. He's the archetypical Indiana Jones in every way... except for the fact that a powerful artifact he stumbled upon implanted itself in his chest. And also except for the fact that now five ghosts haunt him and give him power. These ghosts (a detective, an archer, a wizard, a samurai, and a vampire) guide and inhibit Fabian as he searches for his lost love. They call this issue "five of five" and it definitely concludes,...

House of Gold and Bones Pt. 2 of 4
The dream-like comic House of Gold and Bones is back this week with an even more dizzying and strange installment. Corey Taylor (the Slipknot and Stone Sour frontman himself) weaves a tale of a nameless, lost man in a world full of strange landscapes and savage people. This week our hero runs from those who would do him harm and comes upon some help in a dark forest. Here he learns more about "The Conflagration," a strange event that he may have to take part in. Bag it or board it up?...

Revolver Magazine presented the 5th annual Golden Gods Awards Thursday (May 2). The show is essentially the heavy metal Grammys, presenting awards for various categories in the hard rock genre.
Hosted by WWE wrestler, rock singer and host of "Robot Combat League" Chris Jericho, the show was loaded with tributes to Jeff Hanneman. A founding member of metal band Slayer, it was announced shortly before the show that Hanneman had died. Fellow Slayer member Kerry King led the audience in a "moment of noise" as a tribute to Hannemen, because a moment of silence just would not do.
The full list of winners from the show is below:
Best Guitarist:John 5 (Rob Zombie)
Best Drummer:Arejay Hale (Halestorm)
Best Bassist:Lemmy Kilmister (Motörhead)
Best Vocalist:Corey Taylor (Stone Sour & Slipknot)
Best New Talent:Device
Most Metal Athlete:Triple H (WWE Superstar)
Best Live Band:Slipknot
Comeback of the Year:Tenacious D

Tmnt Villains: Krang
That's right, we're covering a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles comic book here. But be honest, if you had to name one villain from the comics/show that could hang alongside Freddy, Jason, and Michael… it would be Krang, right? What is he, a brain with tentacles? Is he just a nasty little inter-dimensional blob? This one-shot comic gives some background to the grumpy little plop, and we even get to see how he rose to power in his home dimension.
Bag it or board it up? This is a very inventive and fun comic.

Writer: Corey Taylor
Artist: Richard Clark
Colorist: Dan Jackson
Cover: Jason Shawn Alexander
Publisher: Dark Horse
Going into this comic, I had no idea what to expect from the frontman of Slipknot and Stone Sour and an artist who doesn’t have a page on Comic Book Database. Gerard Way of recently broken up My Chemical Romance won an Eisner for Umbrella Academy, but Corey Taylor’s storytelling sputters in his comic book debut. The plot is by the numbers, and there are several lines of dialogue that even Hayden Christensen would refuse to utter. (“And then there was a ray of hope”, “It was gonna be a long journey”, “All that’s left to do is walk”) Conflict is introduced and then dialed back. Not even a good cliffhanger can salvage this story. Richard Clark and Dan Jackson’s solid work with landscape, colors, and some of the character...
