(Spoiler alert: Please don’t read this if you haven’t yet seen the HBO movie “Confirmation.”) In one of the most shocking scenes during HBO’s “Confirmation,” Missouri Sen. John Danforth (played by Bill Irwin) accuses Anita Hill (Kerry Washington) of suffering from a condition called “Erotomania,” a delusion in which a person thinks that someone, usually of higher social status, is in love with them. Danforth, Hill’s leading critic on the Senate Judiciary Committee, found an effective way to discredit Hill’s claims, essentially branding her a stalker. Though the condition sounds contrived, it’s actually quite real.

In 1991, 35-year-old Oklahoma State University law professor Anita Hill was called before Congress to testify about the behavior of Supreme Court nominee Clarence Thomas, her former boss at the Office for Civil Rights and the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.
Hill was subpoenaed by the Senate Judiciary Committee to share allegations that Thomas sexually harassed her on the job at the Eeoc — the federal agency that handles workplace sexual harassment claims, among other things. For coming forward, Hill was demonized by conservatives, who called her a liar and delusional for thinking...

HBO’s “Confirmation” is already coming under fire from D.C. lawmakers who allege there are “grave inaccuracies” in the docu-drama chronicling the Anita Hill hearings. Former senators Alan Simpson of Wyoming and John Danforth of Missouri are among those speaking against their portrayals in the film starring Kerry Washington, reports Politico. Simpson is even threatening legal action. “I don’t know what I’ll do but it won’t be fun and games,” he told Politico. “I won’t just sit still. I’ll have a response, I always have. An attack unanswered is an attack believed.” Also Read:...

Kerry Washington's HBO movie Confirmation is adding two new cast members in Treat Williams and Bill Irwin.
The television movie dramatizes law professor Anita Hill's sexual harassment allegations against would-be Us Supreme Court judge Clarence Thomas.
Joining Washington as Hill and Wendell Pierce as Thomas is former Everwood star Williams as Us senator Ted Kennedy.
Irwin, perhaps best known as Sesame Street's Mr. Noodle, has been cast as political operative and Thomas ally John Danforth, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Confirmation's all-star cast will also include Jeffrey Wright, Jennifer Hudson, Alison Wright and Greg Kinnear.
Kinnear will be playing future Us vice president Joe Biden, who along with Kennedy was on the Senate committee investigating Hill's claims.
HBO has not yet set an air date for director Rick Famuyiwa's Confirmation.

Former "Star Trek" actor George Takei is helping Rep. Mazie Hirono (D-Hawaii) prosper in Hawaii's U.S. Senate race by donating $500 to her campaign in the most recent fundraising period.
The Honolulu Civil Beat first reported on Takei's donation. Hirono also received support from Microsoft founder Bill Gates, actress and singer Barbra Streisand and a Washington, D.C.-based consultant named Linda A. Lingle.
Coincidentally, Hirono's Gop competitor for the open Senate seat is former Hawaii Gov. Linda Lingle (not the same person). Lingle received donations from former Sens. John Danforth (R-Mo.) and Phil Gramm (R-Texas), as well as several members of the Marriott family.
Lingle also received $1,000 from conservative businessman Foster Friess, who bankrolled the pro-Rick Santorum super Pac. In February, he faced criticism for suggesting that women should just put a "Bayer Aspirin" between their knees as a form of contraception.
