She married Oskar Werner in 1954 and they traveled the world together. They lived in Liechtenstein. After their divorce in 1968, she returned to the United States and settled in North Hampton, New Hampshire. She worked as an aide teaching deaf children to speak for over 20 years. She was a volunteer at the North Hampton Library. She returned to France every summer to her mother's sheep farm, Contramundo, in the foothills of the Pyrenees, outside of St. Jean De Luz.
