Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross have linked up with celebrated drummer Antonio Sánchez — who helmed the acclaimed percussion-heavy score for Birdman — for a new song, “I Think We’re Past That Now.”
Sánchez’s drumming guides the multi-faceted track, beginning at an off kilter lurch. rising to a monumental arena-rock boom, then settling into an energetic shuffle before one last explosion. Reznor provides lead vocals on the song (and wrote the lyrics), bellowing over Sánchez’s dynamic drums and the song’s bruising blend of industrial synths.

The “Dancing with the Stars” semifinalists will have to survive two dances and a double elimination if they want to make it to the final.
The remaining six couples will perform two individual routines on Monday, first a redemption dance of a style they struggled with earlier in the season and then a new style. Two couples will be eliminated, sending four into the final. This would be the second double elimination of the season if the first hadn’t been nixed due to Jeannie Mai‘s withdrawal.
Here are the Week 10 routines:
Kaitlyn Bristowe and Artem Chigvintsev: paso doble (“Hanuman” by Rodrigo Y Gabriela) and contemporary (“Cowboy Take Me Away” by The Chicks)
Skai Jackson and Alan Bersten: cha-cha (“Move Your Feet” by Junior Senior) and Viennese waltz (“Lonely” by Noah Cyrus)

With its breakneck-paced galloping riffs and James Hetfield’s snarls about weaker people being “ripped and torn away,” Metallica’s “Battery,” off their magnum opus Master of Puppets, is the apotheosis of thrash metal. The song starts with Spaghetti Western flamenco guitar, and that’s the most clearly defined thread that connects it to Rodrigo y Gabriela, the Mexican acoustic guitar duo which refigured “Battery” into a dynamic exercise in unplugged rage.

Rodrigo y Gabriela made acoustic guitars the focus of their choreographed performance of single “Mettavolution” on Jimmy Kimmel Live. The Mexican duo offered a live rendition of their new album cut with the help of a few skilled dancers.
In the clip, the pair are joined by a group of six dancers holding matching guitars who move in motion to the past-paced, lyric-free instrumentals. As the musicians play faster and faster, the dancers leave their guitars behind and perform a choreographed dance behind the two. As the track comes to a climax,...

The centerpiece of Pink Floyd’s Meddle album, “Echoes,” is a sprawling 23-minute odyssey of psychedelic imagery, contemplative sound effects and rushing melodies. That 1971 song laid the groundwork for the sound the band went on to explore on Dark Side of the Moon and their subsequent Seventies albums, and it was the secret ingredient that made their Live at Pompeii film so mysterious and enthralling, thanks to the icy pin-prick sound that Rick Wright conjured from his keyboard. It’s such a signature song, it’s hard to imagine anyone else doing it justice,...

Despite oft-overlapping acts, massive music festivals have a tendency to always reflect their surroundings. No matter if Coachella is being headlined by a holographic Tupac or a bill brimming with early-90s Britpop nostalgia, the festival is always going to to feel like an outgrowth of Los Angeles--and be very different from Chicago's Lollapalooza.

The filmmakers behind "The Lone Ranger" haven't been wasting any time in getting the word out that this won't just be a standard reboot of the show your Dad falls asleep watching reruns of on the couch at 2 a.m. Producer Jerry Bruckheimer tweeted out the first look at Johnny Depp and Armie Hammer over a month ago, and the cast hasn't been camera shy with people dropping by the set either. But this is perhaps the biggest indication that it will be a departure from the television staple.

This year alone has the fifty-four year-old composer taking some fascinating strides, teaming with the Mexican guitar duo Rodrigo Y Gabriela for both "Rango" and “Pirates Of The Caribbean: On Stranger Tides.” Of course, we don't have to tell you that the man behind the excellent scores for (the…...

After nearly five years, Hans Zimmer‘s scores for the second and third movies in the original Pirates of the Caribbean trilogy are instantly recognizable. Always appearing in trailers or commercials for tie-in products, it’s got a definite (excuse the obvious word) “pirate” sound to it, and matches the movies perfectly. So, the news that someone else will be joining Zimmer on the fourth film, On Stranger Tides, might leave a few people concerned that the formula is being changed.
But, those fears could likely be alleviated when you learn that it’s popular Mexican guitar duo Rodrigo Y Gabriela, who’ve gathered acclaim for their work over the past several years. A press release from Disney (via ThePlaylist) confirms their involvement; this is exciting for a couple of reasons. Mainly, their involvement should give what is, as stated, a familiar and yet kind of tired set of music some new life.
