Peter Demetris is a London UK based camera and Steadicam operator who has built a strong reputation as an experienced shooting producer/director in broadcast TV productions. Peter's eye for photography has meant he is often sought after as a lighting camera operator and as a series director guiding a team of shooting producer/directors. He is pursuing roles in HETV, film and commercials as a camera/Steadicam operator utilising his transferable shooting skills and photography passion.
Biography: Born in Melbourne Australia, and living in London UK since 1992 Peter Demetris is an experienced broadcast TV director working as a shooting producer/director and camera operator. Peter's career began in Melbourne working for HSV Channel Seven as a trainee in the studio vision control department. He quickly progressed to vision mixer, and eventually multicamera live director on sport, comedy, music, and children's programmes. Subsequently, Peter's talent was recognised when he was scouted by the Seven Network entertainment department in Sydney to direct Australia's most popular music programme, Saturday Morning Live. Here he worked on large-scale special events such as John Farnham Live from World Expo, Bee Gees Live, One For All, The Logie Awards, and John Farnham and the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra.
In 1992 Peter directed Australia's version of The Late Show, a five-night-per-week live chat show; Tonight Live with Steve Vizard. Alongside celebrity chat, the programmes featured standup comedy, stunts, and music performances.
Moving to the UK Peter directed a broad range of TV programmes including, GMTV, Live TV, The Word, Britain's Got More Talent, The Jack Docherty Show, The Sharon Osbourne Show, Nickelodeon Skills Awards, and film events such as the Royal Premiere of Spectre James Bond 007.
Peter became a self-shooting producer/director in 2014 and has been responsible for a broad range of popular UK television productions such as Flirty Dancing, The Apprentice and Chateau DIY.
In 2017 Peter worked closely with Woody Harrelson who wrote directed and starred in a ground-breaking, one-shot, live feature film, Lost in London. Here Peter shot behind-the-scenes content which was edited into a dramatic four-minute prologue to the post-produced final feature film, and additional photography (uncredited) of the Daniel Radcliffe epilogue. As the Live Gallery Director, Peter was responsible for the smooth presentation of the event into 550 packed cinemas in the USA.
Working with Woody and the camera team on Lost in London inspired Peter to make the transition into high-end drama productions in the camera department and he is actively pursuing roles in this field.
