So You Think You Can Dance winner Charlie Bruce has admitted that she would rather be a singer than a dancer. Charlie scooped the title from Tommy Franzen and Lizzie Gough on Saturday night, winning £100,000 and the chance to dance on the final of the American version of the show. However, she has now admitted that she would be more keen to land some singing roles than a purely dance based one.
Speaking to The Sun she said: “I’ve been doing it since I was ten and it’s something I really want to do professionally.
“I’d love to be like Mariah Carey – she’s my idol.
“I hope being on So You Think You Can Dance will help me achieve my goal. I haven’t spoken to my agent yet but I really want an offer from a West End musical.
“I’ve always wanted to play...

They nicknamed her Cheeky Charlie during the competition, but tonight’s So You Think You Can Dance final, Charlie Bruce had emerged as a mature, competent dancer.
After a dislocated shoulder caused my personal favourite – Robbie White – to have to drop out, Charlie found herself in the final three with Lizzie Gough and Tommy Franzen. All the finalists danced in couples, either with other finalists or with former contestants who were brought back to fill the gap left by Robbie.
However, it was Charlie who received the most adulation from the judges, who praised her for her development throughout the competition. They noted that she’d grown both “as a dancer and a woman”. But it was head judge Nigel Lythgoe who might have tipped the scales in Charlie’s favour. Following her dance with ex-contestant Drew, Nigel threw impartiality to the wind and said:
If people say I’m being biased toward you tonight,...

Hayley Newton and Mark Calape have become the third pair to be voted off BBC’s So You Think You Can Dance.
Hayley and Mark found themselves in the bottom four alongside Mandy Montanez Tommy Franzen and after all four had performed their solo routines, the judges had to choose one male and one female to save.
Of the girl’s final dance, Nigel said:
“The judges are unanimous – unanimous in believing it’s getting tougher every week too. I can say there’s very little difference between the two of you but we have to make a decision so we’ve done that”
“Mandy you’re a mature dancer. We think you’ve got great strength. We think you understand the demands of this show and we think for us you won’t always meet the demands of...

Howdy, Unreality TV readers! We’re planning a night of Sytycd Factor fun and games to celebrate it’s UK launch on BBC tonight.
Ok, let’s get this weird dance party started. After watching Cat Deeley strut/limp down a street for the introductory part of the show, we have to suffer the customary torture of the judges (Aka Nigel Lythgoe and Arlene Phillips) telling us how tough-but-fair they are.
First notable dancer is Roz Lynch, a girl who twirls and flails her way through a routine. Arlene and Nigel like her dancing (I didn’t), but Nigel says he wouldn’t like to lift her if he was her partner. Ok, that was tough-but-fair.
Fast-forward through some random auditions until we get heavily muscled Hugo Cortez in just his pants. And I don’t mean pants in the American sense. Nigel tells him he thinks he’s superb,...
