Plot: When a signal from an uncharted area of Hollow Earth riles up Godzilla, Monarch’s team has to investigate, while Kong discovers a lost society which may give him the home he’s long desired.
Review: This holiday weekend sees the release of Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire, which marks the fifth film in Warners and Legendary’s Monsterverse saga, which, to be sure, has been very hit-and-miss. For every Kong: Skull Island, there’s an entry that leaves us scratching our heads with its shared universe, mostly related to the evil company Monarch, which recently got its own show on Apple TV Plus. Interestingly, this universe has never been tremendously successful with audiences. WB would have likely thrown in the towel were it not that Godzilla Vs Kong was a surprise smash at the box office. It opened almost exactly a year into the pandemic, at a...

In light of the Vanderpump Rules cheating scandal, new rumors that Kyle Cooke from Summer House cheated on wife Amanda Batula surfaced on the gossip site DeuxMoi, putting the couple on the defense.
In typical cryptic form, the gossip submission subject line was “The Traitor.” Cooke recently starred in Peacock’s series The Traitors. “As we all witness the fallout from the mess that is Scandoval, a Bravo couple on the opposite coast will soon find themselves in a very similar mess. He will be exposed for another ‘mistake.’ Will she be able to forgive and forget this one?”
Amanda from ‘Summer House’ thought the DeuxMoi rumor about Kyle was ‘convenient’
Batula was a guest on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen and Cooke was in the audience. Host Andy Cohen said that a viewer tweeted, “What’s your response to the DeuxMoi blind item that Kyle cheated again last summer?...

Kyle Cooke went into Summer House Season 7 fully expecting that “summer should be fun.” But this time it was Carl Radke who was “not fun.”
Cooke recently told Showbiz Cheat Sheet he initially didn’t feel friendship tension from Radke going into the summer but admitted that their work relationship was already suffering. The Radke/Cooke bromance that Summer House is known for seemed disjointed during the first episode of season 7 as work tension started to bleed into their friendship.
“Carl and I have never had any conflict going into this summer,” he explained. “And we’ve never been at odds with one another on this show. So it was uncharted territory for us and you can see it like even in the moment. We still have a lot of love and respect for one another. If you're a fan of the late comedian Chris Farley, you've most likely seen his famous "Saturday Night Live" sketch "Chippendales Audition." It first aired on October 27, 1990, and was the first to feature Farley in a lead role. It's probably his most famous sketch, though it's not without controversy.
In the scene, host Patrick Swayze ("Dirty Dancing") plays Adrian and Farley plays Barney, two dancers auditioning to become part of the famous Chippendales dancers. Jan Hooks ("3rd Rock from the Sun"), Kevin Nealon ("Weeds"), and Mike Myers are there to judge them as they dance to "Working for the Weekend" by Loverboy. The two of them dance together on the stage, with Swayze doing all the expert moves you'd expect and Farley honestly working just as hard. He was one of the kings of physical comedy, after all. Once the dancers finish their routines, they wait backstage and give each other pep talks.

Alley scored eight Emmy noms in all across her career that spanned film, TV and the stage, including five for playing Rebecca Howe on NBC’s staple Cheers, taking over which much success as Ted Danson’s new foil after the exit of Shelley Long. The cold open of Tadff’s closing night feature isn’t perfect. The shots feel cheap, the blood is too red, and the edit takes a bit too long to show us the victim’s scream. But what shouts “clunky, cheap, and bloody,” ends up quickly morphing into, “jaw shattering, inexpensive, and bloody.” Here for Blood is a thick hero’s slow walk to victory that passes through horror sub-genres like a jaunt through a neighborhood haunted house.

David Fincher learned early on to shed his idealism. Starting in the mid 1980s, Fincher cut his directorial teeth on music videos, working for high-profile artists like Rick Springfield, Loverboy, Billy Idol, Aerosmith, Paula Abdul, The Rolling Stones, Michael Jackson, and Madonna. It was Fincher behind the videos for "Vogue," "Express Yourself," and "Oh Father." The leap to feature films seemed logical, and Fincher signed on to make a second sequel to the 1979 sci-fi hit "Alien."
Anyone who has watched the harshly but aptly titled documentary "Wreckage and Rage," or even the DVD's relatively flowerier hour-long making-of documentary about "Alien³," knows that it was rough going from the start....

And when the Loverboy beverage-brand owner says "everything," he means it, because he and Amanda Batula are mere weeks away from their wedding. To make matters worse, their florist just dropped out. Fans were hit with a "To be continued..." before they could get any more details, but thankfully, Bravo Insider dropped a sneak peek of the April 25 episode, which picks up at the disastrous...

Loverboy: It's not just a drink, it's a lifestyle—and the unofficial ninth cast member of Summer House. Since season three of the Bravo reality hit, fans have watched as engaged couple Kyle Cooke and Amanda Batula have built their brand of sparkling hard teas & premium craft cocktails from the ground up. Sure, they party hard, but they also were doing it while selling their fun, brightly colored products, with Loverboy cases lining the walls of their Hamptons home. But, unlike many a Bravolebrity who has attempted to use their airtime to sell us something (Never forget Sonja Morgan's toaster!), Loverboy is the couple's livelihood. When the fifth season of “Summer House” returns to Bravo on Feb. 4, the premise — a group of friends sharing a house in the Hamptons — will be the same. But behind the scenes, things couldn’t be more different.
For the first time ever, the show was shot for six weeks straight in a Covid bubble (cast and crew were quarantined and repeatedly tested before filming began in late July). In previous seasons, the cast filmed on weekends but would return to New York City during the week, allowing them — and production — to come down from the drama before it built up again.
“I think that’s what turned it into a really special summer for our friendships and the show,” original castmember Kyle Cooke said of filming 24/7 with nine other castmates. “For the first time ever, we’re spending Monday through Friday together as friends and we get a glimpse...

“I think that’s what turned it into a really special summer for our friendships and the show,” original castmember Kyle Cooke said of filming 24/7 with nine other castmates. “For the first time ever, we’re spending Monday through Friday together as friends and we get a glimpse...

It’s been virtually impossible to avoid David Foster for close to five decades. No matter the era, he’s been part of your pop life. Grew up in the Seventies? You probably remember his first hit, “Wildflower,” when he was in Canadian pop-r&b band Skylark; the Tubes’ “She’s a Beauty,” which he co-wrote and produced; and Earth, Wind & Fire’s “After the Love Has Gone,” which Foster co-wrote. In the Eighties, there was Boz Scaggs’ “Jojo,” a slew of Chicago comeback power ballads (“Hard to Say I’m Sorry,...

The very binge-worthy third season of Stranger Things is so good that fans are already clamoring for the next batch of episodes. Of course, the latest chapter in the supernatural saga was filled with plenty of shocking moments and nostalgic references, which were only heightened by the stellar soundtrack in the background.
Each track was specifically chosen to fit both the scene and keep with the time period of the show, and here’s a complete list (put together by the folks at Screen Rant) of every song featured this season, as well as the moments they coincided with:
“Chapter One: Suzie, Do You Copy?”
“Never Surrender” by Corey Hart: Eleven and Mike kiss in her bedroom. “Rock This Town” by Stray Cats: Townsfolk are having fun in the community pool. “Workin’ For A Livin'” by Huey Lewis and The News: Nancy hurries to work to deliver lunch. “She...

We take a look back at the enduring legacy of the world’s first cinematic sci-fi epic, Fritz Lang's Metropolis.
In an interview with Peter Bogdanovich shortly before his death in 1976, Fritz Lang said of Metropolis, “You cannot make a social-conscious picture in which you say that the intermediary between the hand and the brain is the heart. I mean, that's a fairy tale – definitely. But I was very interested in machines. Anyway, I didn't like the picture – thought it was silly and stupid – then, when I saw the astronauts: what else are they but part of a machine? It's very hard to talk about pictures - should I say now that I like Metropolis because something I have seen in my imagination comes true, when I detested it after it was finished?”

Once a blockbuster staple, the power ballad was the ultimate movie accompaniment. We look back at some of the classics...
For a glorious period from the mid-80s throughout the 90s, the biggest summer blockbusters were only worth their salt if they had an equally gargantuan song at the head their soundtrack. Often the success of one was inexorably linked to the other, with the likes of Four Weddings And A Funeral's feats matched and even exceeded by Wet Wet Wet's accompanying Love Is All Around.
The greatest and most successful songs belong to the power ballad genre, and are as emotionally charged and forceful as the gods of epic balladry such as Journey, Whitesnake, Bon Jovi and Meat Loaf. As the 90s became the 00s and the charts became increasingly irrelevant, the movie ballad became almost defunct, with even the song-dominant film soundtrack being...

"What if?" is the burning question our favorite sci-fi movies ask: What if Earth was invaded by aliens or giant spiders? What makes us human once we start bending the laws of genetics and robotics? And if we worked out really really hard, would we ever have Linda Hamilton's arms in "Terminator 2"?
Here are some of the best of the sci-fi genre now streaming on Netflix, including Chris Evans in "Snowpiercer," Bruce Willis in "The Fifth Element" and plenty of Godzilla and the crew of the USS Enterprise.
1. "Antiviral" (2012) Nr
David Cronenberg's son, Brandon, makes his film debut with this gore-filled horror flick about a company who deals in viruses collected from celebrities since people want to be infected with the same diseases as the ultra-famous.
2. "Barbarella" (1968) PG
The cult film, starring Jane Fonda as the sexy space babe of the title, may be overlong, but it's an eye-popping must-see '60s flashback.

Rating (out of five): ** if you’ve not seen the original /*** 1/2 if you have
Giorgio Moroder’s “restoration” of Metropolis probably began with noble enough intentions. Inspired by the music video’s ascendancy, Moroder decided to resurrect Fritz Lang’s 1927 sci-fi masterpiece for a new generation. His rehabilitation included cutting out most of the intertitles (replacing a few with subtitles), retinting and colorizing the images, and – most significantly – juicing the film with a contemporary soundtrack, replacing the crusty old score with far out offerings from Freddy Mercury, Billy Squier, Loverboy, Adam Ant, Pat Benetar, and Bonnie “Total Eclipse of the Heart” Tyler.

Everything old is new again as two of the week’s best DVD releases are for films that are decades old including Giorgio Moroder’s 1984 redo of Fritz Lang’s classic Metropolis with music by Freddy Mercury, Loverboy and other 80s superstars. But don’t fret, there are also some solid new films to check out this week including Bellflower, Griff the Invisible, The Warring States and more. As always, if you see something you like, click on the image to buy it. Three Colors: Blue White Red (Criterion) Krzysztof Kieslowski’s thematic trilogy looks at France’s motto: Liberty, Equality, Fraternity. Blue stars Juliette Binoche as a woman who suffers a terrible loss and attempts to free herself from life and its responsibilities with a kind of slow-motion suicide, but she instead finds true freedom through healing. Red features Irene Jacob as a young woman whose solitude is slowly shattered by unexpected friendships. And...

Giorgio Moroder Presents Metropolis is a 1984 edition of Fritz Lang’s classic 1927 science fiction epic Metropolis supervised by Academy Award-winning composer Moroder (Midnight Express, Flashdance) that made some some notable noise when it was issued theatrically back in the Eighties.
Working in collaboration with film archives around the world, Moroder supervised a special reconstruction of the silent movie featuring color tinting, fewer inter-titles, newly restored footage and a lively new score punctuated with Eighties-era pop songs by such artists as Freddie Mercury, Pat Benatar, Adam Ant, Bonnie Tyler and Loverboy.
Rather than substitute the digitally enhanced footage from one of the restorations that have occurred in the 27 years since the release of Moroder’s effort (restorations that can be seen in editions of Metropolis that Kino has issued prior to this release), Kino has chosen to present the film exactly as...

The newly-restored 153-minute version of Fritz Lang's Metropolis is among the treats that will play at the 14th annual Fantasia International Film Festival in Montreal. As many have already heard, the complete version of the film was discovered in 2008 at the Museo del Cine in Buenos Aires, including about 25 minutes (1257 shots) of footage that was thought lost. It will screen July 28 in the 3000-seat Wilfred Pelletier theatre in Place des Arts. The silent film composer Gabriel Thibaudeau is writing a new score for the feature, which he will perform live at the screening with a 13-piece orchestra.
