Netflix hasn’t officially pulled the trigger on Beef season 2, but when it does, it could come with a star-studded cast. According to Deadline, the new season will revolve around two feuding couples. Jake Gyllenhaal and Anne Hathaway are being eyed to play one of the couples, and Charles Melton (May December) and Cailee Spaeny (Priscilla) are being eyed for the other.
As it’s still early on in the process, Deadline admits that there are no deals in place yet but added that the scripts for Beef season 2 were recently turned in. Should everything move ahead, production on the new season could get underway by later summer or fall. Jake Gyllenhaal and Anne Hathaway have appeared together several times before, most notably in Brokeback Mountain and Love & Other Drugs, so it would be fun to see them share the screen again.

Word on the street is that you'll want to steer clear when Steven Yeun and Ali Wong are behind the wheel in Beef.
From A24 Studios, the upcoming dark comedy series starring Yeun and Wong follows two strangers whose lives converge during a road rage incident. Danny Cho (Yeun) is a failing contractor with a chip on his shoulder, while Amy Lau (Wong) is a self-made entrepreneur with a picturesque life. Throughout the 10-episode series, their feud consumes them as their lives and relationships become intertwined in more ways than one.
As these first look photos show, both characters come from polar-opposite worlds. Amy is surrounded by her beige walls, eclectic vases and a hot husband. Danny, on the other hand, comes from humble beginnings and can’t seem to catch a break.

Beef took home the trophy for best limited series at the 2023 Emmy Awards. The win came on top of five other accolades for the show the same evening, including acting awards for both stars.
“A lot of the suicidal ideation in this show was based on stuff that I and some of the folks up here have struggled with over the years,” creator Lee Sung Jin said. “I’m really grateful and humbled by everyone who watched the show and reached out about their own personal struggles. It’s very life affirming.”
Beef follows protagonists Danny Cho (Steven Yeun) and Amy Lau (Ali Wong) navigating a road-rage incident that cascades into a drawn-out feud between them. The Hollywood Reporter critic Angie Han celebrated the show as “a feast of sharp comedy” with “wild thrills and disarming empathy.”

The feud between Steven Yeun and Ali Wong's road-raging characters in Netflix comedy-drama "Beef" was hot enough to win both actors a Golden Globe each, for Best Actor and Best Actress in a limited series, alongside a third win for Best Miniseries or TV Film. Wong in particular made history with her win, becoming the first actress of Asian descent to win in the category.
"Beef" kicks off with a close encounter between the cars of struggling contractor Danny Cho (Yeun) and wealthy entrepreneur Amy Lau (Wong). Since both are brimming with suppressed rage over various problems in their lives, the near-miss triggers excessive horn-honking, an uncalled-for middle finger, and ultimately a furious car chase. But that battle is only the start of the war as Danny and Amy both become obsessed with their newfound nemeses, kicking off a grudge-match that escalates wildly out of control.

Lee Sung Jin is ready to cook up more Beef.
Backstages at the Golden Globes on Sunday night, the hit Netflix show’s creator revealed that more seasons was always the plan, even if it has heretofore been discussed as a limited series, including tonight as it won the prize for Best Limited Series, Anthology Series, Made for Television Movie.
“We always pitched the season to buyers as an anthology series. There was always going to be new characters,” Jin explained. “Whether it stays limited or turns as an anthology or we continue existing, that’s really up to Netflix. But whatever they decide, I’m definitely ready.”
Jin went on to say that he feels “very fortunate” to be a writer. “There’s so many stories that I still want to write about,” he reflected, “so when they let me know, I’m sure you all will know, as well.

Only two seasons in and "Invincible" has already assembled quite the voice cast. While it relies primarily on name screen actors for the big parts, the show doesn't neglect to invite professional voice actors to the party either. Even the leads offer performances that are a cut above the celebrity voice-acting you see in, for instance, DreamWorks or Illumination animated movies.
It's an easy bet that one can recognize at least some of the voices on "Invincible." Maybe a viewer knows them from watching plenty of American cartoons and hearing their voices over and over again. Or maybe they know the voices from the on-camera work the cast has done but can't place them.
Whatever the case may be, here is a rundown of the actors who've been bringing these comic book characters to life — and how their work on "Invincible" compares to their previous roles.

Just two years after winning a Best TV Movie/Limited Series Supporting Actor Emmy for “Mare of Easttown,” Evan Peters currently has a strong shot at conquering the corresponding lead category as the star of “Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story.” By succeeding on this outing, he would not only maintain his perfect acting Emmys record, but would also follow Ed Flanders as the second recipient of both possible limited program performance prizes.
Given the overall strength of this year’s Best TV Movie/Limited Series Actor lineup, Peters’s potential win won’t come easily, if at all. The only other previous Emmy nominee in the mix is Kumail Nanjiani (“Welcome to Chippendales”), with most of the slots being filled by well-known first-timers Taron Egerton (“Black Bird”), Daniel Radcliffe (“Weird: The Al Yankovic Story”), Michael Shannon (“George & Tammy”), and Steven Yeun (“Beef”).

Beef was a certified hit when it landed on Netflix earlier this year, and now the show’s creator, Lee Sung Jin, is opening up about alternate endings and the potential for a second season. The black comedy-drama starred Ali Wong and Steven Yeun as Amy Lau and Danny Cho, two strangers who become embroiled in a dangerous and violent feud following a road rage incident. It co-starred Joseph Lee as Amy’s stay-at-home-husband George Nakai and Young Mazino as Danny’s unmotivated younger brother Paul Cho. “I’d love to make more,” Sung Jin told The Hollywood Reporter in a new interview, adding that the shoe was “initially pitched as an anthology series where every season is a new beef with new characters.” However, the director stated how much he loves the Season 1 characters and is open to doing more within that world. But things are at a standstill...

Gold Derby can exclusively reveal the episodes selected by the seven nominees for Best Movie/Limited Supporting Actor as their 2023 Emmys episode submissions.
SEECan Steven Yeun ‘Beef’ up Best Movie/Limited Actor at the Emmys over Evan Peters?
Murray Bartlett won this category just last year for his performance in season one of “The White Lotus.” This year he’s nominated twice: Best Drama Guest Actor for “The Last of Us” and Best Movie/Limited Supporting Actor for “Welcome to Chippendales.” In “Chippendales,” he plays Nick De Noia, the closeted choreographer who clashes with Chippendales founder Steve Banerjee (Best Movie/Limited Actor nominee Kumail Nanjiani) before Nick is murdered. Bartlett submitted for Emmy consideration “Leeches,” the fifth episode of the eight-episode series in which Nick opens a successful Chippendales in New York City and becomes the face of the business on the talk show circuit.

According to the combined predictions of Gold Derby users, Evan Peters is the front-runner to win the Emmy for Best Movie/Limited Actor for “Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story” with 71/20 odds as of this writing. However, “Beef” is currently predicted to win at least four awards (including Best Limited Series). With that in mind, could “Beef” star Steven Yeun upset Peters?
At the winter awards earlier this year, Peters won the Golden Globe for Best Movie/Limited Actor. Yet he ended up losing the SAG Award to Sam Elliott for “1883,” which was eligible at last year’s Emmys where Elliott wasn’t even among the nominees for Best Movie/Limited Actor. If Evan Peters couldn’t win at SAG, which is a very populist awards group, then that may not bode well for him at the Emmys.
Also, while “Dahmer” may have been a huge commercial hit for Netflix...

In Netflix's thriller series "Beef," Steven Yeun plays Danny Cho, a struggling contractor who feels responsible for the failure of his parents' motel. In the very first episode, he gets into a road rage incident with Amy Lau (played by Ali Wong), a successful and wealthy businessperson who can't help but feel a lot of ennui about her life. It sets them both on a course toward mutual destruction, changing their lives and the lives of everyone they know forever.
During the series, Danny joins a Korean church in Orange County where the pastor is the husband of his ex-girlfriend. At first, Danny's involvement seems pretty self-interested, but he's taken aback by the emotional response he has to the service and the music there. Later in the series, during episode seven, he even becomes a singer in the church's praise band, too, performing "Amazing Grace" for the congregation. Danny...

“Beef” is shaping up to have a great year at this year’s Emmys. The searing, sizzling, sensational Netflix limited series is predicted to be nominated for at least five Emmys, according to our odds chart, but it could earn a whole lot more than that if key supporting players such as Joseph Lee get caught up in the sweep.
“Beef” follows Steven Yeun as Danny Cho and Ali Wong as Amy Lau — two people involved in an incident of road rage that they just can’t let go of. Over the course of the 10-episode series, the two get caught up in a deadly game of one-upmanship as they try to seek revenge and wreak havoc on each other’s lives, dragging themselves and those around them down along the way. One of those people is Lee’s George Nakai, Amy’s stay-at-home husband.

Ali Wong‘s heart is on the road.
It’s the morning after the opening night of her 44-date stand-up tour that will take her across the U.S. and Canada, and the star-producer of “Beef” is headed to Atlanta. Dressed in black sweats, she apologizes for not having had the chance to wash her hair before our Zoom conversation; instead, she got a little “elliptical in” before heading out. “It’s nice to be back on the road, doing stand-up again,” says Wong, who previously starred in “Always Be My Maybe.” “I had taken a big break when I was filming ‘Beef.’ I think that was the longest break I’ve ever taken,” she says. Netflix’s 10-part series follows strangers Danny Cho (Steven Yeun) as a failing contractor, and Amy Lau (Wong), a successful entrepreneur. A road-rage incident instigated by Amy unravels their lives and relationships.

While Steven Yeun and Ali Wong are receiving the lion’s share of the many plaudits Netflix’s “Beef,” Maria Bello merits attention for her standout turn on the limited series. “Beef” follows the after-effects of a road-rage incident that consumes two people — Yeun’s Danny Cho and Wong’s Amy Lau. Danny is a down-on-his-luck contractor trying to piece together a living while literally living out of a motel with his brother (Young Mazino), who he is constantly at odds with. Amy, meanwhile, is a successful business owner trying to navigate the sale of her business to a larger company while stuck with a caring husband (Joseph Lee) who doesn’t seem to understand her.
Bello plays Jordan Forster, a wealthy and uber-successful businesswoman who heads up Forsters, a home improvement store and company. Forster tries to acquire Amy’s plant-selling business Kōyōhaus and dazzles Amy with wealth, opportunity,...

Beef is one of the best Netflix shows in recent memory. The show takes a very simple premise and expands on it to create a complex character study of two people from different backgrounds mired in their own existential crises. Steven Yeun and Ali Wong are the stars of Beef’s first season, but its showrunner Lee Sung Jin already has ideas for where the series could go with different people in the spotlight.
‘Beef’ is a darkly delicious dramedy about miserable people
Beef ignites when Danny Cho (Yeun) nearly gets in a car accident with Amy Lau (Wong) in the parking lot of a home improvement store. For reasons the characters spend most of the season trying to unpack, the situation escalates into an intense road rage incident that neither party can move on from.

When it premiered all of its 10 episodes April 6 on Netflix, “Beef” became one of the streamer’s best-reviewed – and most popular – new series of 2023. So what’s all the fuss about?
“Beef” stars comedian Ali Wong and Steven Yeun, both flexing acting chops like we’ve never seen from them before. Boasting a 98% critical consensus and an 86% audience approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes, the Lee Sung Jin–created series follows Amy Lau (Wong) and Danny Cho (Yeun) in the aftermath of a headline-making road rage incident that intertwines their lives in ways they could have never predicted.
Its surprising blend of dark humor and tear-jerking drama — plus some playfully surreal flourishes and bold explorations of race, class and mental health — has taken audiences by storm and notched it a top spot on Netflix’s TV ratings.

I had a chance to watch the first three episodes of the new Netflix limited series “Beef” last night, and it didn’t take long before I was hooked. It came inside of 10 minutes. Steven Yeun (as the suicidal contractor Danny Cho) and Ali Wong (as the wealthy but tortured boutique entrepreneur Amy Lau) are brilliant and deserving of all the praise that’s already been heaped upon them, and the narrative and production are irresistibly intriguing and discomforting. But what struck me was how quickly I forgot I was watching a production filled almost exclusively with Asian American actors. It all became rather seamless, even as the storyline alluded the players’ ethnicity.
The reception greeting the series that despite its title deals with beef mostly metaphorically (stemming from a road rage incident leading to an elongated feud that makes the protagonists feel alive) has been deservedly exalted, bolstered by major word of mouth.

The sharp increase in Asian representation in movies and TV shows has been the stuff of celebration in recent years, and for good reason. But while "Crazy Rich Asians" may be a caricature of extreme wealth, and "Everything Everywhere All at Once" is utterly weird (in all the right ways), Netflix's "Beef," starring Ali Wong and Steven Yeun, is grounded in a relatable reality. Even if things spiral way out of control as the series progresses.
There is more than one way to "be a man" in modern Asian American culture.
Growing up in the 1980s and '90s, it was rare if I saw another Asian male face on screen. And if I did, he was most often a single-faceted secondary character. He'd be the token Asian among a group of predominantly white friends, like Ke Huy Quan's Data in "The Goonies." He probably had an accent and was usually nerdy.

From her Netflix stand-up specials, "Don Wong" and "Baby Cobra," to her voice acting work on "Tuca & Bertie" and "Big Mouth," Ali Wong is a comedy superstar. However, with her role in Lee Sung Jin's unhinged dark comedy miniseries, "Beef," Wong may have just turned in the best performance of her career.

Where's the "Beef"? On Netflix, of course!
(Clears throat.) It's a testament to Lee Sung Jin's darkly tragicomical thriller that it's generated serious buzz based almost exclusively on word of mouth instead of being a recognizable IP. The series, for the uninitiated, stars Ali Wong and Steven Yeun as, respectively, ambitious small-time businesswoman Amy Lau and struggling contractor Danny Cho, two average people who end up in an emotionally-violent confrontation over an otherwise unremarkable vehicular accident in a department store parking lot. However, what starts as a rather intense road rage incident soon after spirals into something far more terrible and destructive.
Describing "Beef" in his review for /Film, Jeremy Mathai writes that the series "nimbly [switches] gears from a dramedy to a comedic farce to an almost surrealist fable at points," the cumulative effect of which is a superb acting showcase for Yeun and Wong powered by "some of the sharpest,...

Part of the series focuses on Amy’s unhappy marriage, which starts to strain as her grudge against Danny intensifies. At one point, her character is shown having an extramarital sexual encounter with an older man.
Speaking to Digital Spy, Wong opened up about the meaning of the scene.
“It’s just that Amy has a lot of shame about… When she says in the finale, ‘I don’t want anybody to see me’ – you know, so many people desperately want to be seen, and she’s like, ‘Oh, no, I really don’t want people to see me’,” said the actor and comedian.

Review: Beef is a series that seemed to come out of nowhere. The trailer, which debuted just a few weeks before this week’s series premiere, instantly buzzed around the internet. With a darkly comic sensibility, Beef appeared to be a hilariously twisted dive into the minds of two people who were contending with trauma, stress, and anxiety precipitated by a road rage incident. Having seen the entire ten-episode run of Beef, I can say that this series is much more than just a comedy. Thanks to stellar turns from stars Steven Yeun and Ali Wong,...

Ali Wong brings to life the character of Amy Lau, one of the two leading characters in Lee Sung Jin’s Netflix black comedy “Beef,” where Amy is a hardworking business owner who seemingly has it all but whose sadness persists anyways. Jin’s show presents what childhood trauma and repressed anger do to people and how children grow up to mirror their parents and then proceed to pass on the same toxic traits to their offspring until they decide to break this cycle of toxicity. Frustration is built up from years of subtle jabs, being ignored or silenced, and failing to have what someone deeply desires. This image of frustration is Amy, whose life is in shambles, but she still tries to present a brave face for both her professional and personal lives. But how far does Amy succeed in this façade, and does she ever break out of this cycle?...

Steven Yeun and Ali Wong grill up some juicy Beef in Netflix’s latest dramedy after an incident on the road changes the lives of their characters in ways you can’t imagine. And what unravels in Netflix’s 10-episode series (all of which is now available to stream) is so funny, so dramatic and so tragic that it borders on absurdity in the best possible way.
In the premiere, we meet Danny Cho (Yeun) in the middle of a rough day. After failing to return some hibachi grills (for the third time apparently) and enduring massive judgment from a store clerk,...
