We've learned that Michael Stokes' The Beacon has officially been retitled to Haunting At The Becon. In addition, beyond the break you'll find a lengthy synopsis for the horror flick starring Teri Polo, David Rees Snell, Michael Urie and Michael Ironside, along with a look at some promo art. While trying to get their lives back on track after the disappearance and presumed drowning of their four year old son, Bryn (Teri Polo) and Paul Shaw (David Reessnell) move to the charming old Beacon Apartments. The first (hopefully) annual Paranoia Film Festival on the illustrious Queen Mary has come and gone, so of course people have been wondering which film won the Best Feature award.
We recently got word from the winner himself, Michael Stokes, that the entry he wrote and directed, The Beacon, took top honors for the weekend. Strange that we haven't heard much about this film, but that seems about to change thanks to the kudos handed out during Paranoia Fest. The Beacon’s leading lady, Teri Polo (pictured below), was also honored, winning the award for Best Actress.
A bit of plot has been provided by the filmmakers as follows: While trying to get their lives back on track after the loss of their four-year-old son, Bryn (Polo) and Paul Shaw (David Rees Snell) move to the charming old Beacon Apartments. Bryn begins seeing a ghostly little boy skulking around the building.

Producer Sally Helppie and writer/director Michael Stokes gave Fango an exclusive trailer and first photo from their new fright feature The Beacon; check ’em both out below. It’s the second feature from Helppie’s Texas-based Sabbatical Pictures, which previously made the Stokes-scripted violent actioner Exit Speed (coming on Peace Arch DVD March 3).
The Beacon stars Teri Polo (also soon to be seen in Joe Dante’s The Hole) and David Rees Snell as Bryn and Paul Shaw, who are trying to put their life back together following the death of their child. After they move into the Beacon Apartments, Bryn starts experiencing visions of a little boy who died there, and comes to believe that freeing his spirit will allow her to contact her own dead son through him. “I love mayhem movies like Exit Speed,” Stokes tells Fango, “but The Beacon is intentionally old-school, with a character-driven story,...
