(Cbr) It’s a good week to be Seth Gordon. Just one day after it was announced that he’s stepping behind the lens for the long-developing "Uncharted" movie, it’s now been revealed that Gordon has another project on the horizon as well: "Queen of Hearts". Deadline reports that Gordon will direct the Black List script (not to be confused with "The Blacklist") about "Alice in Wonderland" author Lewis Carroll, and the brokenhearted affair that led him to write the legendary book. Stephanie Shannon wrote the script. If you’re worried that "Queen of Hearts" will stand between Gordon and "Uncharted", fear not: Deadline...

Following the recent news that Seth Gordon would be helming the upcoming, high-profile Uncharted movie, the director continues to enjoy his winning streak by taking the reins of Queen Of Hearts for Oddlot Entertainment.
Now one of the hottest scripts in Hollywood, Queen Of Hearts is written by Stephanie Shannon, and won her a 2013 Academy Nicholl Fellowship In Screenwriting – the winners of which receive a prize of $35,000. As one of five projects selected from 7, 251 submissions, the quality of Shannon’s script was such that it also landed firmly on the 2013 Black List.
The story tells of a passionate love affair that leaves legendary writer Lewis Carroll heartbroken, and leads him to write his most famous novel, Alice In Wonderland. The popularity of the script undoubtedly benefits from the current trend in revisionist cinematic fairy tales – with Disney soon releasing Maleficent and Cinderella, and Snow White And The Huntsman 2 also looming on the horizon.

Seth Gordon is racking up the future projects this week. Having just been attached to direct the long-in-the-works Uncharted movie, he's now also developing Queen Of Hearts from the Black List debut screenplay by Stephanie Shannon. The title obviously refers to Lewis Carroll and Alice's Adventures In Wonderland, but Queen Of Hearts is more along the lines of Marc Forster's 2004 film Finding Neverland (centered on Peter Pan's J. M. Barrie) than those of Tim Burton's Alice and its incoming sequel by James Bobin. This story will centre on Lewis Carroll - a pen-name for Charles Dodgson - and the "passionate affair" that leaves him broken-hearted and leads him to write his most famous work. From that description it seems unlikely that the relationship in focus is that of Dodgson and Alice Liddell, so we'd assume his affair in the story is with Alice's mother Lorina, with whom he's known to have been close.

A day after it was announced that he's attached to direct the "Uncharted" film adaptation for Sony Pictures, filmmaker Seth Gordon ("The King of Kong," "Identity Thief") has been linked with another project.
Gordon is attached to helm "Queen of Hearts," a film based on Stephanie Shannon's Black List script about "Alice in Wonderland" creator Lewis Carroll.
The story details the failed love affair that led to his most famous story. Shannon and Gordon are tied together through David McIlvain - his manager and a man she was an assistant to.
'Queen' is said to still be in early development and "Uncharted" will definitely "go first" as such.

Am I the only one who still likes to enjoy stories for the sake of the story? Though it.s not a new fad, Hollywood continues to create films that go into the background of how a great work was created, with the Mary Poppins-centered Saving Mr. Banks as the most recent example. Now audiences can look forward to seeing the events that inspired Lewis Carroll to create Alice.s Adventures in Wonderland, as OddLot Entertainment has acquired Stephanie Shannon.s Queen of Hearts script, which will one day see Identity Thief.s Seth Gordon as its director. Those hoping for a two-hour movie of Carroll dropping acid while putting a pen to paper will almost certainly be disappointed with the reality of this project. Queen of Hearts will delve into Carroll.s life, according to Deadline, focusing on a failed relationship that leaves him brokenhearted and apparently in...

Just yesterday, Horrible Bosses and Identity Thief director Seth Gordon was said to be heading into a completely different genre by being at the helm of the video game adaptation Uncharted: Drake's Fortune. Now Deadline has word of Gordon taking on another non-comedy project with OddLot Entertainment picking up Queen of Hearts, the script from debut writer Stephanie Shannon which made the Black List last year. Not unlike Finding Neverland or last year's Saving Mr.Banks, the film chronicles a passionate affair that ended in heartbreak, prompting Lewis Carroll to write the book Alice in Wonderland. It's not quite the same as some other revisionist fairytale adaptations like Maleficent and Cinderella coming from Disney soon, and it actually sounds like a very intriguing story. Shannon has been poised to make a splash after winning the 2013 Academy Nicholl Fellowship in Screenwriting competition. It's another very different project for Gordon who launched...

Exclusive: OddLot Entertainment has acquired the Black List script Queen Of Hearts, and has set Seth Gordon to develop the project as a directing vehicle. OddLot will produce with Brillstein Entertainment Group, with Gordon’s manager David McIlvain to be one of the producers. It’s the first script by Stephanie Shannon, who worked as an assistant to McIlvain and wrote her script while holding that job. She won the 2013 Academy Nicholl Fellowship in Screenwriting competition, and hit the 2013 Black List with her script. At a time when studios are looking everywhere for revisionist fairy tales, Shannon’s script seems to hit the mark. The script is about how a passionate affair that leaves author Lewis Carroll brokenhearted prompts him to craft Alice In Wonderland. Gordon, who’s coming off Identity Thief and Horrible Bosses, just got set to direct Uncharted, the Sony Pictures tentpole that will be his first priority.

Right on the heels of the news that he would be directing Uncharted, Sony has announced another project for Seth Gordon. Just one day after word broke that he'll be taking on the big screen version of the video game franchise Uncharted comes word, via Deadline , that Horrible Bosses and Identity Thief helmer Seth Gordon will direct the Lewis Carroll biopic Queen of Hearts for OddLot Entertainment. The script for the film, written by Stephanie Shannon, made the 2013 Black List with the following official logline: Oxford instructor Charles Dodgson (Lewis Carroll) tells stories to the dean's daughter, Alice, and her sisters, while falling in love with the dean's wife. OddLot is producing alongside Gordon.s manager David McIlvain and the Brillstein Entertainment Group. The trade notes that Queen of Hearts is likely to go into production sometime after Gordon's work on Uncharted...

We didn’t know it when docu-helmer Errol Morris (The Thin Blue Line, The Unknown Known) signed up for it last July, but by the looks of several industry players, he might have landed on the best screenplay of the bunch.
The annual “The Black List” unveiled its “favorite unproduced screenplays” of the year, and ranking at the top with a slim margin of a lead was Andrew Sodroski’s Holland, Michigan – a project that should begin lensing in April of next year with Naomi Watts possibly toplining. The second place top vote-getter got a lot more than a set of steak knifes this year. The out-of-nowhere, complete obscurity to huge pay day Section 6 by first time scribe Aaron Berg garnered huge interest towards the end of the year and should be jettisoned into production by the Universal folks – look for big name talent to be attached sometime in...

With all the mindless sequels and reboots that Hollywood has churned out over the last few years, it’s always nice when something original and well-written can break through and get a studio release. Unfortunately, many quality scripts can spend years without ever reaching the right executive to give it the green light. In an effort to make the process a little bit better, former production executive Franklin Leonard started The Black List in 2004. Today, the site announced its ninth annual list of the best unproduced scripts.
To come up with the list, nominations are received from over 250 executives. If a film gets 6 nominations, it gets a spot on the list. The more executives that nominate it, the higher on the list it is. Production for last year’s top film, Draft Day, is underway with the theatrical release scheduled for April, so there’s a pretty good chance that...
