Top of the mornin’ to you on this St. Patrick’s Day! To celebrate, we here at Arrow in the Head decided to mark the occasion by going back over the Leprechaun movies and ranking them from worst to first. The Leprechaun Movies Ranked list can be seen below – check it out and let us know how you would rank the movies!
Leprechaun: Origins (2014)
This is appalling. Director Zach Lipovsky, writer Harris Wilkinson, and WWE Studios were given the chance to make a new Leprechaun movie, they cast a professional wrestler (Dylan “Hornswoggle” Postl) as the title character, and then they just churned out a dull monster movie. I don’t know how anyone involved thought this was a good idea (“You know what we should do? Take everything people liked about Leprechaun and remove it!”) or how Leprechaun: Origins made it through production. The story follows Americans backpacking through...

Madison Avenue used the nation’s biggest media event to tell consumers of massive, destabilizing changes coming soon — but in a good way.
General Motors, one of the nation’s most staid corporations, put its marketing heft behind a fleet of electric vehicles, using revivals of media favorites like “Austin Powers” and “The Sopranos.” Verizon touted quickening telecommunications service by reviving Jim Carrey in his role as “The Cable Guy” and T-Mobile pressed viewers to think about 5G by showing Dolly Parton with a phone pressed close to her chest. Rocket Mortgage dressed its digital service in bright Barbie overtones along with the familiar site of Anna Kendrick. Uber Eats pushed people at home to consider its service for cosmetics, diapers, and odd-smelling candles — not just groceries.

Even if some of their films haven’t been your cup of tea, none of us can deny the force in the industry that Blumhouse Productions has become. In the past decade or so, they’ve enthralled audiences with new franchises such as Paranormal Activity, Insidious, Ouija, The Purge and, my personal favorite, Sinister, to name but a few.
But now, they’re aiming to find new ways of keeping us awake at night, this time via Invasion, a sci-fi horror flick that involves a home invasion that happens during an alien invasion. Sounds cool, right? The company snagged the rights to the spec script this week, and it comes to us from Into the Storm‘s John Swetnam and Leprechaun: Origins‘ Harris Wilkinson.
Plot details are still scarce, and understandably so, but Deadline says that the film includes themes like immigration and features a strong female lead. It’s far too early for casting,...

Exclusive: Hot off its mammoth success with the Oscar-winning “woke” genre thriller Get Out, Blumhouse has won an auction for Invasion. The spec script by John Swetnam and Harris Wilkinson wraps a ticking clock sci-fi premise with themes that include immigration. Essentially, the thriller revolves around a home invasion that happens during an alien invasion. Swetnam will produce the film with Jason Blum, and Wilkinson will be exec producer. The WWE has had some success with their chosen films, especially horror. See No Evil was entertaining enough No One Lives, The Call and Oculus also showed that they had an eye for quality and weren’t afraid to take a few risks. Leprechaun: Origins seemed to have been picked up as a vehicle to bring their own Leprechaun inspired wrestler Dylan ‘Hornswoggle’ Postl to the big screen in an acting role, but to try to remake Leprechaun without the much-loved Warwick Davis? The warning signs were already there for how horror fans would feel about this one.

There’s no doubt in my mind that Leprechaun: Origins will go down as 2014′s most insulting horror movie, and no, I don’t mean “insulting” in terms of gratuitous violence, blatant misogyny or any other true offenses. Instead, Zach Lipovsky’s carbon-copy creature feature is a slap in the face to horror fans everywhere, promising the rise of WWE star Dylan “Hornswoggle” Postl as one of horror’s most recognizable franchise faces.
Every ounce of Warwick Davis’ enigmatic portrayal is stripped in favor of a crude, costumed monster without any humanistic traits, ignoring Everything that makes the original Leprechaun movies watchable – fully admitting a few sequels are proper shite. Despite quality, Davis’ gold-seeking psycho always keeps us engaged with a plethora of B-Movie zingers and goofy actions, but Postl’s faceless nature doesn’t permit for a repeat experience. Leprechaun: Origins is a walking, talking, Celtic cliché, feeling like...

This is a statement that probably sounds like utter lunacy to some, but I’ve been dying to see the first trailer for Leprechaun: Origins ever since the project was originally announced. Why would one be so excited about WWE’s attempt to bring glory and honor to one of horror’s more, um, interesting villains? Simple – Leprechaun is a classic horror film as long as we ignore the slew of absolutely atrocious sequels, as Warwick Davis turned a creature wearing a green tuxedo into something scary, hilarious, and undeniably entertaining. The Leprechaun holds a special place in my gold-encrusted heart, so I’ve been dying to see how Dylan Postl (WWE’s Hornswoggle) would embody the cunning killer – but unfortunately this first trailer doesn’t offer much in the evil leprechaun department.

Today’s filmmakers often appear to be in an arms race to create the biggest beasties imaginable. But the truth is you don’t need to be the size of Godzilla — or even a Big Ass Spider! — to create monstrous amounts of mayhem.

"A horror icon is reborn." That might be a little too liberal use of the word "icon." Yes, there's been plenty of Leprechaun films in the past, but they've all been B-movie level horror movies (some even worse), many never even hitting the big screen and going straight-to-dvd. But the tiny little bastard is making a comeback with Leprechaun: Origins, and now Lionsgate and WWE Films have released the golden teaser poster for the horror reboot starring wrestler Dylan "Hornswoggle" Postl in the role originated by Warwick Davis. This likely means the first trailer is also coming sometime soon, so stay tuned. Look below! Here's the first poster for Zach Lipovsky's Leprechaun: Origins from Shock Til You Drop: Leprechaun: Origins is directed by TV movie director Zach Lipovsky and written by freshman writer Harris Wilkinson and straight-to-dvd horror sequel writer Matt Venne (Fright Night 2, Mirrors 2, White Noise...

The first official poster from the WWE's Leprechaun: Origins, starring WWE Supertstar Dylan "Hornswoggle" Postl as the ever-so-evil title character, has arrived and it's gold-hording good! Check it out!
Leprechaun: Origins also stars Stephanie Bennett, Teach Grant (The Tall Man, Devour, Repeaters, “Cult”), Bruce Blain (“Supernatural”), Adam Boys, and Brendan Fletcher ("The Killing," Freddy vs. Jason, 13 Eerie).
The original Leprechaun, which featured comedic elements, followed an evil leprechaun searching for his pot of gold while avoiding four-leaf clovers. “The tone [of Origins] is going to be a little darker, a little more traditional horror than the Warwick Davis ones that people remember, trying to find a way to please fans of that genre; but at the same time this is really being played for scares,” said WWE president Michael Luisi in an earlier interview.
Producers are keeping details of Harris Wilkinson's script under wraps to keep the franchise's new direction a secret.

Lionsgate and WWE Studios have hired Zach Lipovsky to direct their upcoming remake of the absurd horror film Leprechaun. The Wrap points out that Lipovsky was discovered as a contestant on the Steven Spielberg reality series On the Lot, which centered on 16 aspiring filmmakers competing for a development deal with DreamWorks. Since then he's made some short films and directed some TV movies.
WWE's Dylan "Hornswoggle" Postl will play the Leprechaun, who was previously played by Warwick Davis in the 1993 original, which also launched Jennifer Aniston's career.
The original film was kind of a horror comedy that, followed an evil, sadistic leprechaun searching for his pot of gold while avoiding four-leaf clovers and killing people along the way. The script for the remake was written by Harris Wilkinson. There are no new details on it, but they plan on taking it in a new direction. It was previously reported...

I'm not sure which part of this story is stranger: the fact that someone is remaking Leprechaun or the fact that it is being made by someone whose biggest claim to fame is appearing on a reality TV show.
First, the remake. Lionsgate and WWE Studios have teamed to reboot Leprechaun, the insane cult classic which launched sequels that sent the leprechaun to space and da hood. Newcomer Harris Wilkinson is writing the script, and WWE superstar Hornswaggle will star as the leprechaun. Details on the reboot are being kept under wraps, so I am assuming that it will be more serious than the original.
Next, the director. Zach Lipovsky. Lipovsky started as an actor in a handful of Canadian TV shows (including an episode of Goosebumps) before transitioning to digital and visual effects. In 2007, he won On the Lot, a short-lived Fox reality show in which aspiring filmmakers compete...

Looks like we can add “Hornswoggle” to the list of lucky charms: After the WWE star signed on to play the title role in a reboot of horror series “Leprechaun,” the film has finally found its director. The Wrap reports that visual effects specialist Zach Lipovsky will helm the long-awaited feature, based on the 1993 flick starring Warwick Davis and Jennifer Anniston. Lipovsky, who got his big break when he won the short-lived Steven Spielberg-Mark Burnett reality series “On the Lot,” has directed numerous short films and TV movies, but never a theatrical feature. “Leprechaun,” which toed the line between horror and comedy and spawned several sequels, focused on an evil leprechaun searching for his pot of gold and dodging four-leaf clovers. Producers of the reboot have been mum about what screenwriter Harris Wilkinson's script entails, preferring the franchise's new direction remain a mystery – though Hornswoggle's WWE affiliation...

Probably wholly unrelated to The Men Who Stare at Goats, Fox is nevertheless developing a CIA-themed project which will contain elements of paranormal abilities on the part of agency members.
According to Variety, the untitled spy thriller centers on a division of the CIA that specializes in "remote viewing"—the ability to gather information using paranormal means.
The skein comes from writer Harris Wilkinson (Stir of Echoes: The Homecoming) and Peter Chernin's new 20th Century Fox TV-based production company.
Chernin will executive produce the drama script through his Chernin Entertainment. Katherine Pope and Lauren Stein will also executive produce, and Len Wiseman is on board to direct.
We have to admit, with Fox's track record, this sounds really exciting. Imagine the possibilities: Episodes could range wider than the typical espionage/action show, and into exotic areas such as ancient civilizations, treasure, and technology; secret society financial manipulation; human-alien conspiracy...

It took awhile, but we finally got our hands on the plot for Paramount Vantage's Ink, which was written by Harris Wilkinson. In the film a group of kids go to a "Burning Man" type festival, get messed up on narcotics and decide they need to mark the occasion by getting tattoos. They wake up the next morning after the branding and they all have tattoos that are predictors of how they are slated to die at the hand of a killer. When they get back to the college campus they are hunted down according to their tattoos. More on this soon.

Paramount Vantage is venturing into the world of horror.
The specialty division of Paramount Pictures has acquired Harris Wilkinson's horror spec Ink for low- against mid-six figures.
Set in the world of tattoo artistry, the high-concept story line is being kept under wraps. But Vantage head of production and acquisitions Amy Israel promised an "original take on the horror genre (that) is hugely exciting."
The script is out to directors.
Alan and Peter Riche (Starsky & Hutch) of Riche Prods. will produce in association with Mandalay Independent Pictures, which is headed by Crash producer Cathy Schulman.
Wilkinson, who most recently penned Stir of Echoes: The Dead Speak for Lionsgate, sold Bone Canyon to New Line Cinema and penned a rewrite of the thriller Awake, which is in development at Universal Pictures.
He is repped by Justin Silvera at New Wave Entertainment and attorney Rob Szymanski at Eclipse Law.
