Meghan McCain got a bit of an ego boost from the search to find a permanent replacement for her empty seat at “The View.” The former host said this week that she was pretty pleased with how long it took to find a conservative voice to add to the table full time.
McCain left “The View” in August 2021, at the end of the show’s 24th season. For the entirety of season 25, the show had a revolving door of guest hosts, effectively auditioning them in real time. There were a few names that popped in to guest host multiple times, including Michele Tafoya, Tara Setmayer and others. But in the end, the full time slot went to former Trump communications director Alyssa Farah Griffin, as well as Ana Navarro.

The women of “The View” opted not to explicitly take sides in the case of Johnny Depp and Amber Heard, but host Sunny Hostin did express her thoughts on the verdict itself on Thursday. And for her, Depp’s larger win does not fly in the face of the #MeToo movement, as some have suggested.
On Wednesday, a jury awarded Depp 15 million in his defamation case against his ex-wife, while Heard was only awarded 2 million. In her statement following the trial, Heard wrote that the decision “sets back the clock to a time when a woman who spoke up and spoke out could be publicly shamed and humiliated. It sets back the idea that violence against women is to be taken seriously.”
The hashtag #MeToo started trending almost immediately, with expressing similar concerns as Heard, and worrying that Depp’s win effectively destroyed any progress made by the movement. But,...

The women of “The View” were split on Tuesday morning following the public defacement of the Mona Lisa in the Louvre. While Whoopi Goldberg, Sara Haines and guest host Tara Setmayer slammed the stunt, Joy Behar and Sunny Hostin argued it might’ve just worked.
On Monday, a man attempted to vandalize the famous piece by smearing frosting all over the its protective glass. The man reportedly did so in protest of climate change, as a video posted by a witness included audio of him saying “Think of planet Earth, there are people destroying it,” in French as he was escorted from the museum.
For half of the “View” table, the stunt was way off the mark.
“It’s asinine!” guest host Tara Setmayer exclaimed. Though she laughed at the extreme circumstances, she added that people are talking more about the stunt itself, rather than the reasoning behind it.

Though multiple reports are conflicting as to whether Will Smith was asked to leave the Oscars after slapping Chris Rock on stage, “The View” co-host and Academy governor Whoopi Goldberg maintained on Thursday that he actually was.
The hosts of “The View” didn’t kick the show off by discussing the slap again, but they did eventually circle around to it, with hosts Sunny Hostin and Tara Setmayer marveling at the idea that Smith was simply given the option to leave rather than required to.
“I don’t think that’s how it went down,” Whoopi shot back. “I think that he was asked to leave.”
That said, Goldberg made sure to point out multiple times that she is not an official spokesperson for the Academy. You can watch the segment from “The View” in the video above.

After media reports came out today suggesting Oscar producers did not formally request that Will Smith leave the ceremony after slapping Chris Rock, or at the least gave Smith mixed messages about the request, Academy’s Board of Governors member Whoopi Goldberg insisted on today’s The View, “He actually was. He was asked to leave.”
Goldberg, who was not present at the Oscar ceremony and cautioned that she was not speaking for the Board, said today “but there are things that I do know.”
Watch the View segment below.
When pressed by some of her View co-hosts as to why Smith was asked to leave rather than told to leave, she speculated about what that scenario would look like: “They come back from back from break, now if [Smith] is in some sort of state and he’s struggling and you’re trying to get him out the door and it’s on camera.

Following the news that Whoopi Goldberg would be suspended from The View for comments she made about the Holocaust, her colleagues are (barely) addressing her absence on air. During the Wednesday, February 2 broadcast, Goldberg’s co-host Joy Behar acknowledged her suspension, lightly, briefly saying, “You all saw the news. Whoopi will be back in two weeks.” Behar and the rest of the table which included Sara Haines, Sunny Hostin, and guest Tara Setmayer, carried on with the show following the quick comment. “You all saw the news. Whoop Goldberg’s “The View” co-hosts Joy Behar, Sara Haines and Sunny Hostin remained silent on the Wednesday, Feb. 2, episode of the ABC daytime talk show regarding Goldberg’s two-week suspension. ABC News president Kim Godwin announced in the evening of Tuesday, Feb., 1 that Goldberg would be suspended from “The View” following Goldberg’s remarks that the Holocaust was “not about race.” Behar started the Wednesday morning episode of “The View” by reiterating that Goldberg would be off the show for two weeks, then the hosts moved on to the “Hot Topics” segment.
“You all saw the news,” Behar said. “Whoopi will be back here in two weeks.”
According to a report from The Daily Beast, a source close to “The View” says “most of [Goldberg’s] co-hosts are furious with the network” for suspending Goldberg after she made numerous apologies about her Holocaust remarks. Ana Navarro, a regular co-host on “The View...

Maybe some topics are just too hot.
On today’s episode of ABC’s The View, co-host Joy Behar opened the show with a quick – very quick – reference to moderator Whoopi Goldberg’s two-week suspension over her comments about the Holocaust.
“You all saw the news,” Behar said. “Whoopi will be back here in two weeks.” The panel, including regulars Behar, Sunny Hostin and Sara Haines, along with guest conservative commentator Tara Setmayer, then moved on to the daily Hot Topics segment, today leading off with a discussion of abortion and the Supreme Court.
Goldberg’s suspension, announced last night by ABC News President Kim Godwin, followed The View moderator’s statements on Monday’s show that the Holocaust was “not about race” but rather “man’s inhumanity to man.” Her assertion was quickly condemned by the Adl and a number of other important organizations. Goldberg later issued a written apology.

Whoopi Goldberg is taking an immediate leave of absence from The View in light of her controversial comments about the Holocaust.
ABC News president Kim Godwin confirmed the news of the suspension Tuesday.
“Effective immediately, I am suspending Whoopi Goldberg for two weeks for her wrong and hurtful comments," the statement reads.
"While Whoopi has apologized, I’ve asked her to take time to reflect and learn about the impact of her comments."
"The entire ABC News organization stands in solidarity with our Jewish colleagues, friends, family and communities.”
The daytime talk show will proceed with regular hosts Joy Behar, Sunny Hostin, Sara Haines, and guest co-host Tara Setmayer.
The controversy started in Monday's episode of the series. The cast talked about a Tennessee school board’s banning of the graphic novel Maus, with Goldberg saying that “the Holocaust isn’t about race… it’s about man’s inhumanity to man.

As President Donald Trump sits for a state dinner in London tonight — we assume he’s going to sit, rather than lurk behind the queen like he did with Hillary Clinton during their debate — Whoopi Goldberg and her co-hosts did a little audio fact-checking on Potus during The View today.
Watch the clip in the tweet below — and be sure to play it to the end to hear Ana Navarro express a sentiment that about 60% of Americans share.
Trump, of course, is denying that ever called Duchess Meghan Markle “nasty.” He, of course, doesn’t care that audio of his statement in an interview with The Sun was released. Of course. So Goldberg decided to call him out on it.

CNN host Don Lemon took heat on Thursday and Friday after doubling down on his show’s criticism of rapper Kanye West. On Thursday evening, Lemon said West’s Oval Office meeting with President Trump reminded him of a “minstrel show” and brought up West’s dead mother to make his point.
“What I saw was a Minstrel show today,” Lemon said making an unusual appearance on “The Situation Room.” “This was an embarrassment, Kanye’s mother is rolling over in her grave.”
West’s mother, Donda West, died in 2007 after botched cosmetic surgery.

You're not going o believe this, but a CNN segment over race as a motivating factor in the death of Freddie Gray got heated. Blaze host Tara Setmayer squared off with CNN's Marc Lamont Hill, arguing that Gray's arrest was a singular case of police misconduct, not an incident in a wider problem of systemic police mistreatment of African-American suspects.
