After streaming platforms became as popular as they are now, it became clear that the age of the standard cable network TV format was over. Shows have become much shorter as the wait between seasons has become much longer, regardless of genre or ratings.
With the recent WGA and SAG AFTRA strikes that took place in the summer of 2023, the production schedule for any studio has become a mess. Now, however, it's rewarding to see the shows we love overcoming any difficulties the circumstances created and getting back on track.

Luckily for fans of The Sandman, updates on season two are now closer than ever, as the show's team has taken another important step and completed the casting process. season two was always going to introduce three more newcomers, all three children of the Endless Family that viewers have yet to meet.

Netflix finally unveiled an official teaser for the second season of The Sandman yesterday, and it featured a first glimpse of Esmé Creed-Miles as Delirium, Adrian Lester as Destiny, and Barry Sloane as The Prodigal.
Though we did get to see Delirium's face, her full visage was somewhat obscured, and this new behind-the-scenes photo gives us a better look at the Hanna star in-costume as the youngers of The Endless.
In Neil Gaiman's comics, Delirium is the current manifestation of the being that started out as Delight. The character is a little... mixed up, but is loyal to her family and proves to be an invaluable ally to Dream during the events of "Brief Lives."
Check out the photo below along with yesterday's teaser.

When Netflix revealed that it was planning to come forth with an adaptation of DC Comics’ The Sandman, people were excited. While many were elated, there were some who had doubts about the project. But the series, which aired in 2022, proved them all wrong. It was a critical success, managing to bring to life a host of the fabled Endless on screen. And the new season will witness the introduction of 3 new members of the Endless.

With each Endless being in-charge of a specific domain, and with each having sovereignty in their domain, they are characters who can hold their own.

The Prodigal is finally set to return.
Throughout the first season of The Sandman, viewers met not only Dream a.k.a. Morpheus (Tom Sturridge), but also his siblings, known as the Endless. The mopey Dream gets a pick-me-up from his cheery sister Death (Kirby), while dealing with the machinations of the duplicitous twins Desire (Mason Alexander Park) and Despair (Donna Preston).
But readers of the cult comic book series by Neil Gaiman know that the Netflix adaptation left other members of the Endless off screen. But according to a casting announcement, the rest of the family will be dropping by for season two.

The Endless have assembled!
Netflix has shared a brief teaser for the second season of The Sandman, reintroducing the members of The Endless we met during season 1, Dream, Death, Desire and Despair, while providing our first glimpse of Morpheus' remaining siblings, Destiny, Delirium, and "The Prodigal."
Esmé Creed-Miles will play the youngest of the Endless, Delirium, while Adrian Lester will take on the role of the all-seeing Destiny, and Barry Sloane will play The Prodigal.
Anyone who has read Neil Gaiman's comic series will know who this really is, and while it wouldn't seem like much of a spoiler to reveal the name, it's clearly something the show is choosing to keep under wraps for the time being.

After spending decades in development hell, a live-action adaptation of the Neil Gaiman comic book series The Sandman actually made it into production and was released into the world as a Netflix series in August of 2022. (Read our review Here.) Season 2 of the show went into production last year, then had to be put on pause for a while due to the writers and actors strikes. Thankfully, The Sandman season 2 was able to resume production as soon as those strikes came to an end – and today, a press release reveals that the cast of the new batch of episodes includes Esmé Creed-Miles (Hanna) as Delirium, Adrian Lester (Hustle) as Destiny, and Barry Sloane (Pleasureland) as The Prodigal. Their characters can be seen in this promo clip:

Wake up, fans of “The Sandman,” we’ve got some Season 2 news for you: The Netflix adaptation of Neil Gaiman’s epic graphic novel series has cast the final three siblings in the “Endless Family” of Tom Sturridge’s Dream — Esmé Creed-Miles as Delirium, Adrian Lester as Destiny and Barry Sloane as “The Prodigal.”
In “The Sandman” comic book series, The Prodigal is the estranged Endless sibling named Destruction, but Netflix has taken care to label Sloane’s role as “The Prodigal,” which is the way the character is referred to throughout the first volumes of the story. The three new castings point to “The Sandman” Season 2 covering the graphic novel’s iconic installment, “Season of Mists.”
The trio of new “The Sandman” Season 2 actors will join the Endless siblings returning from Season 1: Death (Kirby), Desire (Mason Alexander Park), Despair (Donna Preston) and Dream, The Sandman himself.

Netflix has reignited the world of The Sandman, announcing the continuation of Season 2’s production in London. This development comes as a celebratory mark of the comic series’ 35th anniversary. Fans of Neil Gaiman’s imaginative universe have much to look forward to as the show picks up from its unexpected pause due to the SAG-AFTRA actors’ strike.

What better way to celebrate the 35th anniversary of The Sandman than with news that the second season of the Netflix adaptation is filming? Netflix has announced that the series, based on the DC comics by Neil Gaiman (who serves as an executive producer), is in production on new episodes in London (it had paused due to the writers and actors’ strikes). And it just so happens to be the 35th anniversary of the original comic series! Plus, the streaming service released a behind-the-scenes photo of Tom Sturridge (Dream) and Mason Alexander Park (Desire), which you can check out above. With the news comes a letter from Gaiman: “We never know where our dreams will take us. 35 years ago today, the first issue of The Sandman was released and set many people and characters on paths that seemed, even at the time, so unlikely as to be impossible. If you haven’t watched the trailer to Ryan Gosling’s directorial debut called Lost River, correct that now. While early buzz has been mixed, I’m excited to see the film. I think it is also cool that Johnny Jewel scored the film, considering he was going to be the original composer for Refn’s Drive (See Symmetry: Themes for an Imaginary Film where some of Jewel’s ideas and possibly leftout compositions lay). Lost River looks dreamy, hypnotic and a nightmare of Americana.

It’s safe to say as Nicolas Winding Refn’s current muse, actor-turned-director Ryan Gosling, is also heavily influenced by his filmmaker friend. Take Gosling’s directorial debut “Lost River,” which is scored by dreamy analogue synth artist Johnny Jewel (who’s also in the bands Glass Candy, Chromatics Desire and Symmetry). Before scoring Gosling’s entire film, Jewel was probably best known for his musical contributions to Refn’s “Bronson” and “Drive.” So perhaps taking cues from his main bro (who has defended the actor’s film vigorously), Gosling tapped Jewel to write the entire score to his polarizing debut “Lost Rive,r” which some have compared to David Lynch, and yes, a little bit of Refn, too (here’s our review). In a press release from a few months back, Jewel said, "When Ryan e-mailed me the script my immediate feeling was that the whole film should be...

The X Factor‘s great Season 3 experiment — the “Four-Chair Challenge” — is over, Simon Cowell’s category being the last to complete the Thunderdome-esque “Ten acts enter! Four acts leave!” shenanigans. Was this new round — which replaced “Bootcamp” and “Judges’ Houses” a success?

Rapper Kid Cudi moonlights as an actor every now and then, most recently popping up in a regular role on the (sadly) now-defunct HBO series "How To Make It In America" but it looks like he's also a keen cinephile, sampling Joe Cornish's "Attack The Block" on his latest track, a collaboration with producer Dot da Genius.
The lengthily-titled "Dennis, Hook Me Up With Some Of That Whiskey" opens with a quote from John Boyega's Moses ("Kill 'em, kill all dem fings") before sliding in another one from Alex Esmail's Pest about half way through ("That's an alien bruv, believe it!"). We're not sure what the significance of it is (other than a cool reference) with a glance over the lyrics providing no further insight. A short clip of Barack Obama crooning Al Green ("Those guys didn't think I was going to do it...") is also added for good measure.
