Exclusive: The 2019 Screamfest Horror Film Festival has taken a bite out of Eat, Brains, Love, setting the Rodman Flender-directed zombie romantic comedy as its opening-night film. The annual genre fest will run October 8-17 at the Tcl Chinese 6 Theatres in Hollywood.
Eat, Brains, Love, which world premiered last month at the UK’s Frighfest, is about Jake (Jake Cannavale) and his dream girl Amanda (Angelique Rivera). The good news is she finally knows his name — but the bad news is both contracted a mysterious sexually transmitted zombie virus and devoured the brains of half their senior class. A teen psychic (Sarah Yarkin) sent by the government’s top-secret Necrotic Control Division is sent to track them down. Patrick Fabian also stars.
Mike Herro and David Strauss wrote the script based on the novel by Jeff Hart. The pic is produced by Tommy Coriale, Tony Disanto, Brian Hoff, Van Toffler and Cody Weig.

Welcome back to This Week In Discs where we check out tomorrow’s new releases today! He Never Died Jack (Henry Rollins) is something of a loner. He eats at the same diner every day, he plays Bingo at the same church every week, and he meets the same immoral hospital intern every few days to buy… something. He has little need for anyone else but that begins to change when two women come into his life. Cara is a waitress at the diner, and while Jack is a man of few words he’s still managed to hit it off with her to some small degree. Andrea’s face is brand new to him, but an angry phone call from an old fling he hasn’t heard from in roughly nineteen years informs him that the girl at his door is his daughter. His life suddenly grows busier and far more complicated, and...

There are bucket lists... and then there's Henry Rollins' bucket list. After rising to notoriety as the lead singer of Black Flag in the '80s, Rollins has built on his punk legacy to become one of America's most unique cultural filters. And to his ever-growing list of accomplishments, he can now add movie star. As the immortal antihero Jack in Jason Krawczyk's "He Never Died," Rollins' role allowed him to bring his rigorous work ethic to yet another creative endeavor. On this week's episode of Indiewire Influencers, Rollins speaks with Indiewire Editor in Chief Dana Harris about the mental training and the wide swath of life experiences necessary to maintain his kind of output. As a veteran of auditions, Rollins says he's intimately familiar with the process of being rejected from any number of potential gigs. "You better know some failure. Otherwise, you become brittle. You gotta...

The expansion of numerous release platforms over the past few years has opened up several avenues for genre films to be released, whether it’s VOD, direct to streaming, or other sources. However, being able to see a movie in theatres, revelling in it with other strangers who share the same taste, remains the optimal way to experience genre features. It is this experience that the people behind the horror film He Never Died are hoping to create with their film, and have thus turned to Indiegogo to fund a theatrical release for the feature.
He Never Died stars genre staple Henry Rollins, who has previously appeared in genre films such as Wrong Turn 2 and The Devil’s Tomb, as he takes on the lead role this time, playing Jack the immortal cannibal. Jason Krawczyk both wrote and directed the film, and the official indiegogo description is as follows.

Many times, the ‘less is more’ approach to storytelling can really enhance a film and such is the case with Jason Krawczyk’s He Never Died- a minimalist look at the life of a cannibal who also has been bestowed with the gift of eternal life. Without bogging viewers down with too much exposition, Krawczyk allows his star Henry Rollins to do what he does best as an actor and give us a dryly comedic but equally compelling examination of how someone who has experienced such an extraordinary existence could ultimately tire of their own existence after a few millennia. The results are a powerfully simple and nuanced exploration of what it means to be human, all served up with a fun neo-noir, blood-soaked twist.
In He Never Died, we are introduced to Jack (Rollins), a simple man who wants nothing more out of life at this point than...

You probably remember Henry Rollins from his punk-rock days with Black Flag, or as an out-spoken human activist, but filmmaker Jason Krawczyk has a different vision of Rollins as a troubled, undead, possibly vampiric – well, I’m still not entirely sure What he is. In the movie He Never Died, Rollins plays a man who just can’t seem to die no matter what torture he endures. Is he a hero? A villain? If it’s up to Rollins’ character Jack, he’d be neither. He’d just sit around all day watching television, visiting a local diner, and drinking blood to quell a dark secret swept safely under a rug of normality.
He Never Died is an interesting movie because it never demands to be classified. No matter what conflicts present themselves in Jack’s life, he always seems bothered by whatever thugs may attack or which family members are taken hostage.

When Henry Rollins agrees to do something, he isn't one to half-ass the job. Whether it's writing his La Weekly column, appearing in films and TV, reigniting one of the many potential incarnations of Black Flag, or "buying you dinner", Rollins is all in on whatever undertaking comes his way.To the delighted shock of writer/director Jason Krawczyk, Rollins undertook to star in his passion project, the action comedy, He Never Died. In it, Rollins plays an eternity-old lug named Jack, who, suffice it to say, is lately feeling a little over life. Thus it comes as no small annoyance when the stuff life is made of comes wrapping at his door: hired goons, a daughter, a love interest in whom he has very little interest,...

As people struggle to find and hold onto a meaningful purpose in their work and relationships, they often find it difficult to simply define the overall objectives in their lives. So they often determinedly set out to describe and showcase their strengths, in a powerful attempt to validate their existence and merits. Writer-director Jason Krawczyk and actor Henry Rollins profoundly highlighted their persistence in telling an equally emotional and action-driven horror story in their new film, ‘He Never Died,’ which premiered during last week’s SXSW in Austin, Texas. The performer’s complex anti-hero also enthrallingly showcased his dedication to finding the significance in his own life, particularly when it comes to [ Read More ]

Jack (Henry Rollins) is something of a loner. He eats at the same diner every day, he plays Bingo at the same church every week and he meets the same immoral hospital intern every few days to buy… something. He has little need for anyone else but that begins to change when two women come into his life. Cara (Kate Greenhouse) is a waitress at the diner, and while Jack is a man of few words he’s still managed to hit it off with her to some small degree. Andrea’s (Jordan Todosey) face is brand new to him, but an angry phone call from an old fling he hasn’t heard from in roughly nineteen years informs him that the girl at his door is his daughter. His life suddenly grows busier and far more complicated, and the trend continues when he finds himself targeted by a series of low-level henchmen for reasons unknown. It...

There will always be movies that provide all the necessary answers, but there will also be others that revel in the muddied concept of ambiguity. Despite a culture of spoonfeeding and obvious storytelling, He Never Died dares to be a shapeless tale that could be interpreted many ways – a “Choose Your Own Adventure” of sorts. All we know is what’s given in the title, and that’s the only information writer/director Jason Krawczyk cares to offer for a majority of his drifter’s curious predicament. You’ve got your rugged loner main character, his couldn’t-care-less attitude, and the reality that he just can’t seem to die. Why can’t he die? In the words of Krawczyk’s hero (anti-hero), *shrugs, walks away.*
Henry Rollins plays a simple man named Jack, who expresses little interest in the thugs that show up at his door looking for a fight.
