This article contains Cobra Kai spoilers.
Cobra Kai season 3 revealed the backstory we didn’t know we wanted – the harrowing Vietnam experience of Cobra Kai’s biggest villain, Sensei John Kreese (Martin Kove). Cobra Kai has been on point when it comes to filling in the personal histories of their characters. The writing team of Josh Heald, Jon Hurwitz, Hayden Schlossberg, and Bob Dearden have keen eyes for details and find reasonable justifications for the actions of its villains. Johnny’s (William Zabka) abusive father Sid (Ed Answer) has provided some redemption to his character’s initial villainy. But Kreese has remained villainous throughout the entire franchise. We don’t need to rehab all the villains, do we?
Kreese’s origin tale is told across three episodes. Despite their brevity, they’re packed with clever Easter eggs for fans to find over repeated viewings and tricky red herrings that toy with fan expectations.

If you're currently watching Cobra Kai season three, you might be surprised at actually feeling empathy toward the usually despicable John Kreese, played by none other than The Karate Kid alum Martin Kove. This season, Kreese's backstory is finally explored, allowing us to dive into the reasons for his downright evil ways. Viewers get a look into Kreese's troubled youth, framed by his mother's devastating death, his label as a "freak," and his job at the local diner. In order for young Kreese to stay true to the intimidating war veteran he soon becomes yet still change our perspective on the character, the series decided to cast someone with a broad range of acting roles under his belt. Its choice? The 28-year-old, Ohio-born Barrett Carnahan, who has appeared on countless shows - yup, that's where that pesky déjà-vu feeling is coming from.

I’ve been looking forward to Axe Giant: The Wrath of Paul Bunyan ever since I first heard about it, and it won’t be too much longer until we all get a chance to see what happens when a great American tall tale gets a monstrous slasher makeover.
Is it correct to call it a slasher? If the killer’s preferred instrument of death is an axe and the killer in question is a giant lumberjack, then wouldn’t it be more appropriate to call it a hacker? Eh, I’m over-thinking this.
Gary Jones, the director Boogeyman 3, Spiders (the 2000 version not the new one) and Mosquito, brings us this dark, contemporary take on the tall tale of lumberjack Paul Bunyan. Kids at a first-offenders boot camp discover that the legend of Paul Bunyan is real but is much more horrifying than they could have imagined. They incur...

We’ve been following the progress of the new folklore-inspired horror flick Bunyan. If you’re at Shockfest in Hollywood next weekend you’ll be the first to get a chance to see the giant lumberjack chop up some campers.
I’ll let the press release fill you in:
Bunyan, the new horror/creature feature from director Gary Jones (Boogeyman 3) and producer Jeff Miller, will have its World Premiere on November 17 at the Shockfest Film Festival in Hollywood.
“We think it’s pretty cool to be a part of Shockfest,” says writer/producer Miller. “They have great things planned. No one’s done this character before in horror, and we think horror fans will enjoy it.”

One horror flick that has me curious is Gary Jones' Bunyan, a reimagining of the tall tale of titanic lumberjack Paul Bunyan that brings his legend to bloody life as a 15-foot giant maniac with a very large ax. Producer Jeff Miller was kind enough to send over some news stills from the movie and word of a new cast member who's no stranger to forests.
Dan Haggerty, best known as TV's "Grizzly Adams" but forever in the heart of schlock movie fans like myself for his portrayal of a chain-smoking department store Santa battling an evil Nazi elf in the bad movie classic Elves, has joined the cast of Bunyan.
Here's the latest press release regarding the ongoing filming of Bunyan:
"Bunyan, the new horror/creature film from director Gary Jones and producer Jeff Miller, filmed for several more days in Ohio this fall.

I suppose it was only a matter of time before someone associated with the genre felt the inexplicable need to transform the iconic folk hero Paul Bunyan into a horror movie monster. Director Gary Jones — who is largely responsible for such legendary outings as “Spiders” and “Boogeyman 3″ — is in the middle of lensing his upcoming production “Bunyan”, a motion picture which finds a group of teenagers battling a 15-foot giant with a penchant for murder and mayhem. Robert Kurtzman’s Creature Corps is handling the effects. No word yet if Bunyan’s trusty blue ox will make an appearance, though I wouldn’t bank on it. “Bunyan” stars Joe Estevez, Tom Downey, Tim Lovelace, Jesse Kove, Amber Connor, Cliff Williams, Victoria Ramos, Kristina Kopf, and Jill Evyn. A handful of pics rest below. Thanks to Shock Till You Drop for providing the goodies.

Gary Jones is in principal photography on Bunyan , a bloody riff off the tall tale of, you guessed it, Paul Bunyan. The director previously helmed Boogeyman 3 , Spiders and Crocodile 2 . For his latest effort, he takes us to a first-time offenders boot camp where the kids there learn the Paul Bunyan legend is real, horrifying, and a 15-foot monstrous giant! We've got your first look via the photos below. The movie stars genre vet Joe Estevez, Tom Downey, and Tim Lovelace. Jesse Kove, Amber Connor, Cliff Williams, Victoria Ramos, Kristina Kopf, and Jill Evyn round out the cast. Jeff Miller scripted with Jones. The former is also co-producing. On effects duties, expect to see the work of Robert Kurtzman's Creature Corps. Shooting is taking place in the Los Angeles...
