For a while now it’s been known that 20th Century Fox was fast-tracking two Marvel properties that will revert back to Disney come this fall. But one of them, now, may be scrapped in the end. As I mentioned at the beginning of the year, Fox wants to reboot Fantastic Four. After two films that, while making a star out of Chris Evans (one guesses it did help him get Captain America), they failed to ignite at the box office here or overseas. Josh Trank, –who helmed the low budget “found film” feature Chronicle- was the leading contender back in January when the word broke. Fox has now made it official. However, expectations are the film will recast all the roles. The other film is Daredevil. That film has struggled to get traction at Fox since 2003’s Ben Affleck attempt. It’s gone through many scribes, including David Scarpa...

While you can probably expect more than a few comic book movie announcements to come out of Comic-Con this week, here's one that isn't being publicized very loudly. With the plethora of Marvel characters being bandied about as of late, a big one that has been missing in action for a while now is Daredevil. Fox still owns the rights and has been trying to set up a reboot ever since fans mostly rejected the 2003 film starring Ben Affleck, but it has been slow going. Last year they hired David Slade (Hard Candy, The Twilight Saga: Eclipse) to direct, but it now appears that he has been forced to exit the project due to scheduling concerns. Here's the rub: they need to get a Daredevil movie in production by the fall or they will risk losing the rights back to Marvel and Disney. Something tells me fans will be rooting for the latter.

Among all the reboots and relaunches on the big screen, there is one glaring exception: James Bond.
Numerous actors have played 007, including Sean Connery, George Lazenby, Roger Moore, Timothy Dalton, Pierce Brosnan and Daniel Craig, while M - Bond's boss and the head of MI6 - changed gender when Judi Dench stepped into the role in 1995's GoldenEye. No explanations, no retellings, no going back to square one, the franchise just carried on regardless.
Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige appears to like that approach, and says they will probably use it when Robert Downey Jr, now 47, no longer wants to continue playing Tony Stark/Iron Man.
Feige told Badass Digest: "I think Bond is a good example. Let's put it this way: I hope Downey makes a lot of movies for us as Stark. If and when he doesn't, and I'm still here making these movies, we don't take him...

Chicago – The Blu-Ray release of “District 9” is one of the best of 2009, a perfectly transferred film with a great selection of special features that enhance the viewer experience of the film itself. “District 9” is one of the most beloved films of last year and Sony deserves credit for treating its diehard fans as well as any studio in the last twelve months with only one major flaw in an otherwise perfect package.
Blu-Ray Rating: 4.5/5.0
So many films are released that feel like a product of a corporate machine designed to take your hard-earned cash. I think the reason so many people have taken so wildly to Neill Blomkamp’s revelatory debut (Cfca winner for Most Promising Newcomer) is that it is such an original, daring, and inventive piece of filmmaking.
District 9 was released on Blu-Ray and DVD on December 22nd, 2009.
