A couple of clips have been released from the upcoming drama Brigsby Bear which hits UK cinemas 8th December. In both of them we see Brigsby Bear super-fan James Pope (Kyle Mooney) being interviewed by the police and video blogging in his appropriately decorated bedroom.
When the children’s television programme “Brigsby Bear Adventures” is abruptly cancelled, the show’s number one fan James Pope sets out to finish the storyline himself. However, he must now learn to cope with the realities of a new world he knows nothing about.

The year is 2017. Homosapians live in a heavily nostalgic society always looking to Make what Made them happy as kids Make them happy as adults. Specifically all you mid-20 year olds and beyond looking for nostalgia for your comfort food. Never has there been so many fat 29 year olds with matching Batman socks looking to relive simpler times. Before work. Before bills. Before the world turned into whatever chaos engulfs our news cycles and threat of Nuclear disaster lies in the hands and a small-minded ego maniac………. (I’m talking to myself here). Kids who grew up in the 80’s and 90’s may go down in history as the most nostalgic generations, as the ones that came before didn’t have as much pop culture and future generations have too much pop culture for anything to truly stick. This nostalgia is in due part to Hollywood reviving every old franchise...

Brigsby Bear is a cute one-joke comedy without the cuteness. It’s weird, odd, and everything the trailers might lead you to expect, but seems to have no loftier goal than being quirky. Brigsby Bear opens with the children’s TV series Brigsby Bear, which features a Paddington-esque bear named Brigsby who battles intergalactic villains including the Sun Scorcher, while spouting childish platitudes. It’s a crude, cheap production with a devoted cult following of one: shaggy-haired 25-year old man-child James Pope (Kyle Mooney) introduced watching the show completely enraptured. We soon discover that James’ obsession with Brigsby Bear isn’t the only reason he stays in his room. His parents April and Ted (Jane Adams and Mark Hamill) have kept him living in an underground bunker since they kidnapped him as a baby and Brigsby Bear has been the secret work of his captors, a show produced by them for his eyes only.

James Pope, the gentle-souled dweeb Kyle Mooney plays in Brigsby Bear, is an almost literal man-child, quite literally sheltered. Thirty if he’s a day, James still lives with his eccentric hippie parents (Mark Hamill and Jane Adams), but he has a good excuse: They’re all holed up together in an underground bunker, thanks to an unidentified catastrophe that’s made the air above unbreathable. James’ sole interest, his consuming obsession, is Brigsby Bear Adventures, a low-budget science-fiction serial he’s been watching his entire life; the show, which is basically Doctor Who by way of Barney, arrives like clockwork on VHS every week and features a time- and space-traversing bear whose exploits convey simple life lessons that seem to suspiciously advance in demographic aim as James ages.

I've been looking forward to Brigsby Bear ever since I heard about it. A dark comedy starring SNL cast member Kyle Mooney, alongside Mark Hamill, Andy Samberg, and Clair Danes, it's about, "James Pope (Kyle Mooney), who was kidnapped from a hospital as a baby and since childhood all the way to adulthood has known nothing about the world except Brigsby Bear, a children's show... One of the standout movies from the 2017 Sundance Film Festival was an indie comedy called Brigsby Bear. The film is led by Saturday Night Live cast member Kyle Mooney, who stars as a twentysomething young man named James Pope who has spent his life growing up in a bunker, raised by his parents and […]

Before a single frame of Dave McCary’s Brigsby Bear appears on the screen, the laughs are already happening. A fake opening title card reads that one of the studios was “Lonely Island Classics,” and it’s presented in the same font style and color as the logo for Sony Pictures Classics.
The film sets up the viewer for a, mostly, unpredictable ride to The Lonely Island’s world (the American comedy trio composed of Akiva Schaffer, Andy Samberg and Jorma Taccone all appear briefly in the movie). It opens with an episode of the made-up children’s TV series Brigsby Bear, which is, quite simply put, about a Teddy Ruxin-like bear named Brigsby, who travels the galaxy, saves the world from destruction and also makes sure to teach a valuable life lesson to the, mostly, tykes watching the show (“trust only the familial unit.”) I use the word “mostly...

Disorientation is usually a bad thing; going through a state of mental confusion and having no sense of balance. Brigsby Bear may be one of the most disorienting films ever screened at Sundance. It also may be one of the most enjoyable, original and fascinating films I have ever seen.
Kyle Mooney and Kevin Costello have written a film directed by Dave McCary that is unlike anything I have ever seen. This creative, hilarious tale is a movie hard to place in a genre pigeonhole and nearly as impossible to describe.
Brigsby Bear centers around James Pope, who is portrayed pidgenhole by co-writer Kyle Mooney. The first time we see Pope he is watching his favorite TV show about an anamatronic bear named Brigsby, who is constantly saving the world while teaching valuable life lessons – some stranger than others.
The twist comes when the FBI raids Pope...

Thunderbirds Are Go! returned to our screens tonight (April 4), leaving viewers wondering whether it could top the 1960s original.
The classic theme tune and countdown open the show but there are no strings in sight for this version of Gerry Anderson's story, as the Tracy brothers move to complete CGI animation.
Initial reaction to images released of the brothers weren't fantastic - but what did Twitter think of it on-screen? Digital Spy rounds up viewers' opinions here:
Episode one drew favourable opinions, with many praising it for being a programme that the entire family can enjoy:
Hats off to the Thunderbirds remake. My show was the one I first saw in 1965. But the new one's smart & inventive & fun & I'm glad it's here
