Cradle of Filth have unveiled a new single titled “She Is a Fire” and announced their first live album in 20 years, Trouble and Their Double Lives, arriving April 28th.
The studio track “She Is a Fire” will be included as a bonus track on the upcoming live record, along with another new song, “Demon Prince Regent.” These tunes were written following the recording of the band’s latest album, 2021’s Existence Is Futile. As Dani Filth describes them, the songs “present a perfect, but not necessarily related, bridge between our Nuclear Blast days and the forthcoming album on Napalm Records.”
A furious six-minute piece, “She Is a Fire” is an unrelenting exercise in technical black metal as riffs unfurl from one another in a torrent of notes. Dani Filth’s whispery howl provides properly unsettling accompaniment.
“The song itself is about the epitome of burning passion,” he said in the press release,...

Last we heard, 18 months or so ago, Buffy The Vampire Slayer writer Marti Noxon was working on the screenplay for the developing relaunch of the Tomb Raider movie franchise. Since then there's been an eerie hush, as of an ancient wind keening gently through long-undiscovered cave systems. But who's this breaking through a crumbling rock wall? It's none other than Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles' Evan Daugherty, who's now making a start on his own version of Lara Croft's next adventure.Development has been slow on the third Tomb Raider film, which will ignore both the 2001 Angelina Jolie version and its 2003 sequel The Cradle Of Filth Life. The project is coming together at MGM and Warner Bros. under the aegis of producer Graham King. The intended thrust is a young-Lara story along the lines of the most recent videogame instalment from 2013.That game saw a Lara fresh from the academy,...

Ahead of 30 Rock's final season we look at the greatest comedy appearances, from Cher to Noel Fielding. Anyone we've missed?
It's a show known for its great guest star appearances. There are the top-billing megastars who reveal another side to themselves on the show – Oprah as Liz Lemon's exaggerated, hallucinatory 'Opraaaah', Jennifer Aniston's intensely obsessive Claire, Carrie Fisher's washed up writer Rosemary and Liz's very own Ghost Of Christmas Future. The repeat-appearance kooks – Will Arnett's Devon Banks and Marceline Hugot's Kathy Geiss – and the one-off show stealers (Wayne Brady as Liz's dull date). And yet somehow 30 Rock has a way of not making its guest stars seem perfunctory or like window dressing.
So the excitement surrounding the guest-star list for 30 Rock's final season, which begins airing in the Us at the beginning of next month, is understandable. Leaks suggest it might include Breaking Bad's Bryan Cranston...

If you hang out here a lot (and you should... all the cool kids do), you've probably heard plenty of interesting news about the UK's legendary metal outfit Cradle Of Filth and their cinematic sounds of darkness. Long before the symphonic metal wave surged across Europe, frontman Dani Filth and his crew were employing vast orchestral backdrops for their savage riffs, thunderous beats and demonic vocals. While most of this material has been performed on keyboards using layers of samples, some of their grander-scale concept albums like 2003's Damnation and a Day have incorporated massive live orchestras and full choirs. When I chatted with Dani recently, we talked about the band's latest project Midnight in the Labyrinth,...

Cradle Of Filth frontman Dani Filth seems to have more on his creative agenda right now than ever before: now that the band has released the CD/DVD set Evermore Darkly, a companion to the band's excellent new album Darkly, Darkly, Venus Aversa (check out our review here), they're already in the final phase of recording their first fully symphonic release Midnight in the Labyrinth – which is slated for release in early April – and in the demo stage (and beyond) on several songs for their next album, which is scheduled for a Halloween 2012 release. Aside from a few track titles, much of the new record has remained shrouded in mystery, but Dani did share some interesting details with us about both projects... as well as...

It's been a while since we heard any updates about the Tomb Raider reboot, and we'd hesitate to use that word about this story. But let's say that producer Graham King has just re-emphasised his intentions to continue the adventures of Lara Croft.King inherited the videogame franchise back in March, when his Gk Films banner nabbed the rights from Warner Bros and Square Enix. Since we last reported, the only real news has been that Iron Man writers Hawk Ostby and Mark Fergus have scored the screenplay gig. But the task they've been assigned is, as has always been mooted, to completely reboot the franchise as an origin story, and ignore the continuity of the Angelina Jolie instalments Lara Croft: Tomb Raider and Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The Cradle Of Filth Life."[Those two films] weren't disasters," says King, most recently at work with Martin Scorsese on Hugo, "but the story...

The county of Suffolk in the UK recently reached out to residents and asked them what and who they thought were local icons of the area. Officials behind the outreach were surprised, and unamused, when the metal band Cradle Of Filth came in as the number 1 voted icon of Suffolk, receiving a total of 13,025 votes... which is "Over 9,000" more votes than what was received by the icon that came second place: a swimming pool.
Cradle of Filth originated from Suffolk in 1991, playing music that was highly influenced by the Black Metal movement. The band's sound has since evolved into a mix of different metal styles including Gothic Metal and Symphonic Black Metal, and are known for songs such as "From The Cradle To Enslave" and "Nymphetamine."
The organization behind the icons poll, Choose Suffolk, have opted to ignore the public votes, and have since provided a list of 20 finalists to...

As you've probably figured out from this weird week of content, there's fuckall going on these days in Hollywood. December means little news, and bracing yourself for shitty holiday pictures, award season, and the inevitable January/February dead zone where all of the cinematic garbage gets dumped upon us.
But there's still some nuggets to be found, and since we all love horror movies (we do, don't we? Anyone who doesn't gets hit in the face with my car), here are a few of the lesser-known, but still interesting trailers out there.
First, a music video of sorts for the Norwegian film Troll Hunter that Steven Lloyd Wilson first mentioned a couple of months ago. Goddamn, this movie looks fun.
Next, the trailer for the very low-budget-looking, but still pretty goddamn freaky Luster, starring Billy Burke (known for playing Bella's dad and one of the few decent actors in Twilight...

Few rule the Metal realm like Cradle Of Filth. Between a musical catalog big enough to fill a mom and pop record shop (it's still growing may I add), an extended assortment of controversial merchandise and the constant media coverage, it's practically impossible to have missed the Metal phenomenon fronted by former Metal Hammer Magazine contributing writer Dani Filth.
Filth, who's played a hand in just about every aspect of entertainment you can imagine, has once again temporarily sidestepped the extremely familiar Musical Avenue, traveling rather, down Literature Lane. His latest venture, an historical look at horror, it's documented conception, and profound influence upon the Metal genre - particularly Cradle Of Filth - comes to us in the form of a beautifully articulate book co-written by world renown Satanist Gavin Baddeley.

If you're a fan of macabre music, the following thought has probably crossed your mind: how many artists who write, compose and perform songs about vampires, demons, serial killers and occult mysteries actually live the lifestyle they portray in their music? Do they wash off the corpse paint, unstrap the spikes and knock off for a beer, or do they retreat backstage to their private ritual altar to chainsaw groupies in blood sacrifices to Baal or Cthulhu or some other dark deity? I naively used to suspect that UK metal icons Cradle Of Filth might be from the latter group, then started leaning more toward the former... then realized that I was way off the mark on both counts. Cradle of Filth is a band we've covered at length on Fangoria Musick, and tonight we received word that the band will soon release a coffee table book entitled The Gospel Of Filth, penned by music journalist Gavin Baddeley (Dissecting Marilyn Manson, Lucifer Rising) and CoF frontman Dani Filth.

Official PR:
For decades, music writers have been penning tell-all artist biographies and their personal interpretation of rock history. But on Halloween 2009, Fab Press will unleash a book that takes readers on a much deeper and darker journey into the inspirations behind the world of rock music.
