A festival program of indie features, documentary and dramatic shorts, plus classic movies with a local flavor, means Little Venice is unlikely to be impacted by the SAG-AFTRA and WGA strikes that are prevent many actors and writers from participating in the forthcoming fall film festivals.
It’s worth noting here that UK Equity members, while having much sympathy for their U.S. cousins, are not on strike and are bound by their contracts to attend festivals in support of movies made under Equity mandates.

At The Fork Emergent Order Reviewed by: Harvey Karten, Shockya Grade: A- Director: John Papola Written by: John Papola, Lisa Versaci, Cristina Colissimo Cast: Dr. Temple Grandin, Wayne Pacelle, Mark Bittman, Terry Branstad Screened at: Critics’ link, NYC, 6/23/16 Opens: July 8, 2016 in Cinema Village NY and Laemmle Monica in La The title of this movie, “At the Fork,” may be metaphoric but not in the sense meant by the filmmakers. I’m thinking that it could mean there are three forks in the road, i.e. one more than Robert Frost had considered. At one fork in the road, you can choose to eat everything, all meat, however raised. A documentary that begins with the words, “This is rib fest,” doesn’t seem like a natural fit for a movie about conscious consumerism, but that’s part of the charm of director John Papola’s feature debut. “At The Fork” explores a number of questions around what’s on our plates and how it gets there, with the […]

A Film About Husbandry and Wife. An official trailer has debuted for a documentary called At the Fork, another documentary examining the food we eat and specifically the animals raised en mass for food. Don't worry, though, this one isn't about to make you feel ashamed for eating a hamburger or some bacon, it's a "surprisingly non-judgemental" look at our food and where it all comes from. This is a very beautiful trailer with some fantastic cinematography that sets up the story in this film. The doc features the song "Mercy" performed by the Dave Matthews Band (but it's not in the trailer). I recommend taking a look at this trailer. Here's the official trailer for John Papola's documentary At the Fork, direct from Vimeo: Filmmaker and omnivore John Papola, together with his vegetarian wife Lisa, offer up a timely and refreshingly unbiased look at how farm animals are raised for our consumption.
