Hitting the Apex, narrated by Brad Pitt (who also produced the doc film), is the story of six fighters – six of the fastest motorcycle racers of all time – and the fates that awaited them at the peak of the sport. The racers profiled are: Jorge Lorenzo, Marc Marquez, Dani Pedrosa, Valentino Rossi, Marco Simoncelli, and Casey Stoner. A bit strange that it has taken so long for this to get a US debut, but oh well, it's finally going...

As the generalist streamers dive deeper into sports programming, specialist sports player Dazn is growing its lineup of originals alongside its coverage of live events. Next up is “In Our Blood,” a three-part series about three generations of iconic Spanish MotoGP riders: Alex Criville, Jorge Lorenzo, and Marc Marquez.
Former BT, ESPN, and Sky programming exec Grant Best is leading the originals charge as senior vice president of original programming and content development. The one-offs and series are being designed to sit alongside and bolster Dazn’s staple fare of live sports, he told Variety.
Best, who also produced the BAFTA-winning “Rio Ferdinand: Being Mum and Dad,” said that the plan is to look at various types of sports-themed programming. “If you can complement great live sport with original content, it can help massively,” he said. “We would like to make content with a twist.”

The Images Festival (site) opens in Toronto today and runs through April 9. It's "the largest festival in North America for experimental and independent moving image culture, showcasing the innovative edge of international contemporary media art both on and off the screen," and we're teaming up with them to present a selection of films on your screen.
We begin with short works by Jodie Mack, who hails from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and recently received a media arts fellowship from the Illinois Arts Council; Jorge Lorenzo's Death Match, documenting his cousin's struggle for survival; Fabian Euresti's Everybody's Nuts, an essay on California's Kern County; Sokhna Amar's poetic Pourquoi?; and Brett Bell's Sign-Off (image above), a collage of vintage 16mm Canadiana. Watch this space for more titles to be made available over the coming days.
