Although her grandfather Carlos Robson Gracie is a ninth degree red belt in Gracie jiu-jitsu (the equivalent of a black belt in other styles), and all her uncles are black belts, she received her black belt from her great-uncle Carlos Gracie, Jr.
For several years lived in the United States, but since 2009, only lives 6 months out of the year in the country in order to maintain her U.S. green card.
She is the second female member of the Gracie family to earn a black belt (her great-aunt Karla Gracie was the first), but is the first to actively compete in jiu-jitsu.
Is a first cousin-twice removed of professional fighter Royce Gracie.
