Mariah Carey is still bitter about the way her 2017 kicked off with that disastrous New Year’s Eve performance in Times Square. She’s already parted ways with her longtime creative director, dancer and tour choreographer Anthony Burrell over the live disaster, and now the diva is blaming “everybody” from the production crew to the backup dancers in a new interview with Rolling Stone. “I don’t even want to bring this up too much, but whatever, we’re obviously talking about it, the New Year’s Eve situation — that couldn’t be helped,” she said in the article published Tuesday.

In the eighth and, sadly, final installment of E!'s very special docu-series Mariah's World, this is how Mariah Carey ditches her colossal engagement ring from ex-fiancé James Packer: she writes a breakup song to "heal" her, sings it in the studio, and then defiantly slides that sucker off, sets it on the music stand and walks away.
Even though she knows that Packer put the singer "through hell," Mariah's manager, Stella Bulochnikov, discovers the ring and has questions for her client, like why the hell her $10-million behemoth is no longer bedazzling her finger. At the same time, Stella also takes the opportunity to address public misconceptions about Mariah.

"I don't even know what I think anymore," she answers. "I think you have a different set of issues than me. I mean it's nice of you to try to make me feel good and stuff."
"That's all I want," Tanaka assures Carey. "I just want you to be happy."

With just one episode to go, it's the beginning of the end for Mariah's World, and the diva's eight-part E! docu-series is going out on a high note.
And that's "high" as in... Mariah Carey eats a weed brownie?! This rollercoaster of an episode featured Mimi celebrating more birthdays, contending with ex-fiance James Packer's "busy schedule," consoling dancer-turned-boyfriend Bryan Tanaka and his injured knee with a provocative lap dance and putting her GLAAD Ally Award to work by staging a homoerotic sex prank.
Here are seven moments we ate up from "Got Me Feeling Emotions," the all-new (drug) trip to Mariah Land.

This post has been updated with new information. Thanks to Mariah Carey's iconic Christmas hit, "All I Want For Christmas Is You," the music legend is practically synonymous with the holidays. It seemed like a no-brainer, then, that she was asked to perform a slew of her biggest singles during Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve in NYC on Saturday night. Unfortunately, all did not go according to plan thanks to a number of technical difficulties, which revealed Mariah was lip-syncing and led to her walking off the stage (you can watch the performance here). "Trying to be a good sport here," she told the crowd about the glitch, explaining, "We didn't have a check for this song . . . we're missing some of the vocals, but it is what it is. I'm just going to let the audience sing. We didn't have a sound check for this New Year's baby,...

As painful as it is to watch Mariah Carey try to play off what is being called her “epic lip sync fail” from ABC’s “Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve With Ryan Seacrest,” laughing at celebrity snafus is a time-honored internet tradition as old as schadenfreude itself.
In one clip, Carey traverses the stage aimlessly, sending misfired jokes about her song’s chart-topping status. Pointing the microphone to the blissfully ignorant crowd, Carey announces something no diva ever dreams of saying: “Let the audience sing, okay?”
And sing they did. The internet’s appetite for “failure porn” is as voracious as ever. Twitter’s punishment was swift and severe. One user even took the opportunity to make a Helen Keller joke. Jimmy Kimmel roasted the singer on his show Monday night, quipping: “She lipped, she just forgot to sync.”

Ryan Seacrest is defending the producers behind Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve and those involved in Mariah Carey's flubbed performance.
On Thursday's On Air with Ryan Seacrest on 102.7 Kiis-fm, the TV personality commented on Carey’s live TV showcase that was plagued by technical difficulties. Carey's manager, Stella Bulochnikov, told Et that the Grammy winner was "set up to fail" during her performance, but Seacrest insists this when it comes to live television, "things happen."

Mariah Carey has parted ways with longtime creative director, dancer and tour choreographer Anthony Burrell following her disastrous New Year’s Eve performance, according to media reports. Entertainment Tonight cites sources close to the singer, who say Anthony Burrell is “not being brought back for a number of reasons.”
Carey’s performance suffered from an audio equipment malfunction. Apparently, the singer could not hear herself — or possibly anything — in the on-stage monitors. The rest of the world could hear the music and backing track however — including all those pre-recorded high notes.

Dahhlings, Mariah Carey doesn't do birthdays. She has anniversaries. And when her beau, Bryan Tanaka, popped out of a cake dressed as a Chippendale on Sunday's episode of Mariah's World, you'd have to be living under the world's biggest rock to not know that Mimi's anniversary was much better than her New Year's Eve.
From the looks of it, she also had a pretty great Easter and Christmas, as we learned from this collage-y episode, which went from her lip-syncing her own Christmas song, "Oh Santa!," on her private jet with her crew to Easter and candy eggs in just minutes.
But that "anniversary" party -- we need to talk about the champagne Mimi pours down the chiseled chest of "Magic Tanaka."
