It isn’t every day you encounter a pop-disco musical about a buoyant aspiring circus performer and a brooding aspiring rock singer with competing Mommy issues falling in love in Mexico City against the electricized rearrangements of the Indigo Girls. And that’s not exactly lamentable, because I wouldn’t categorize English-language Glitter & Doom as necessarily essential cinema … though I also couldn’t accuse it of being anything other than original either. (Well, except for the foundational premise of opposites attracting and then ultimately clashing over dueling artistic ambitions.) Director Tom Gustafson (Were the World Mine) has crafted a sweet if plodding love story but it’s hard to truly hate on this whirling candy-colored poetic fairytale — it’s just too sincere, much like the musical source material.

Since 2010, the reality cooking competition Worst Cooks in America has enchanted — and sometimes repelled — Food Network viewers. Celebrity chef Anne Burrell leads a team against a rotating cast of famous chefs and fellow Food Network personalities. But as the title implies, these hapless contestants aren’t exactly ready for Top Chef.
The show is packed with cringe-worthy moments, as some truly disastrous cooks attempt to learn their way around the kitchen. Both Burrell and her competing judges over the years have had some major meltdowns at their teams. But outside of those moments of friction being played up for television, which judge is a pleasure to work under on this over-the-top reality show?

Eddie Jackson is helming a new series for Food Network — “Outchef’d” — and the competition, between skilled home cooks, will be not only fierce, but surprising. In fact, the new show, which TheWrap has exclusive details about, will surprise home cooks who turn up for an audition only to end up in head-to-head competition against a world-renowned chef.
The competition brings the heat (thanks to the pressure of the surprise) and starts off with with a star-ingredient themed cooking round.
Jackson will then take to the streets to find a panel of six individuals to blindly taste the dishes. To even the playing field, the home chef has to receive only one vote to win a 5,000 prize.

Celebrity chef Anne Burrell knows about bad cooks. Now, apparently, she’s learning that partnerships can also have its problems.
The spiky haired Burrell, who co-hosts the Food Network’s Worst Cooks in America reality competition featuring cooking exercises by amateur kitchen bumblers and celebrities, has closed Phil & Anne’s Good Time Lounge just under a year after opening.
Despite its reported popularity, owners Burrell and restauranteur Phil Casaceli reportedly have had some disagreements on its operation.
The Smith Street restaurant has been shuttered since last Monday, although Burrell denies that a decision on closing it permanently has been made, according to the New York Post.
“Anne did not close the restaurant,” a spokesman told the Post. “Unfortunately, she and Phil have had differences of opinion during their business relationship that made running a restaurant together impossible,” adding, “Phil and his representative have been unwilling to meet thus far to try to reconcile the situation.
