It’s been almost two years since we last reported on the the debut feature from director Peter Herro, Wtf! – which follows the survivor of a mass murder on a relaxing trip with six close friends, when her nightmare threatens to begin again. Thankfully the latest news is that Herro’s film is finally getting a release Stateside, courtesy of Midnight Releasing.
Herro directed Wtf! from a script he co-wrote with Christopher Centanni and Adam Buchalter. Kyle Zingler produced alongside executive producers Steve Parker and Jody Wheeler. Callie Ott (The Horror), Sarah Agor (Hatchet II, VH1′s Scream Queens), Andrea Hunt (Awaken the Shadowman), Ben Norris, Johnny James Fiore, Nick Reilly and Adam Foster starred as the unfortunate group of friends.
Three years ago, twenty-two year old girl-next-door Rachel (Ott) barely survived a brutal massacre that left her friends in pieces. Time has passed, Rachel has moved on, but unfortunately...

Steve Parker is one half of Cthulhu Crush Productions, a Us based production company that are pushing out some very unique (and some might say controversial) films. Their latest is The Dark Place, a Jody Wheeler-directed thriller that encompasses all the usual thriller elements – though the lead is a gay man. Later down the line, the company has Wtf! Coming out – a traditional ‘Cabin in the Woods’ type thriller. In this interview Parker gives us the lowdown on both films…
Steve, you have so many projects going on. Are these funnelled out through your own production company?
Yes, generally. Cthulhu Crush Productions is the hub for all of the work Jody and I do, separately or together.
Why did you begin producing?
Projects don’t start themselves. And producing was how to create the projects I wanted to work on. My primary love is editing, but I also have a software engineering job.

Over Your Dead Body: Press Release: "A beautiful actress (Kô Shibasaki of 47 Ronin and Battle Royale) plays the protagonist in a new play based on a legendary ghost story. She pulls some strings to get her lover cast in the play, although he's a relatively unknown actor. With the cast in place, rehearsals for the play, about an abusive relationship and a grudge, begin. But off stage, some begin to develop their own obsessions. Trapped between the play and reality, they are horrified to find that a real grudge can cross the blurred line between reality and fantasy. Will love flourish?...

Published continually since 2007, doorQ.com now slumbers with The Old Ones, dead-but-dreaming, waiting for the stars to align so it can rise again.
Like all dreaming beasts, there will be occasional murmurs, exhalations of interest from the Slumbering Void of note, interest, or wonder, brought forth for appearance and wonder.
The world has changed much since the site was launched. Queerness was barely acknowledged in genre circles. Now it is ever present. Conventions regularly speak of Us. We’re an integral part of all media. There are even three conventions devoted to our community (Gaylaxicon, OutLanta Con, and the largest, Bent-Con.)
This site will remain for as long as possible. Forever, if the stars are right.
You can keep up with the founder, Jody Wheeler, at his personal site, JodyWheeler.Com.

Shoreline Entertainment, the Los Angeles-based production and sales company, has picked up world sales rights to wine-country mystery-thriller, The Dark Place, from Blue Seraph Productions.
Jody Wheeler (Heat Wave, In the Closet) directed the story, with J.T. Tepnapa (Judas Kiss), from Wheeler’s own screenplay, with Carlos Pedraza producing.
The film focuses on Keegan Dark, a troubled young man cursed with the uncanny ability to remember his life in videographic detail. He returns to his family’s wine estate, boyfriend in tow, to make amends with his estranged mother, only to discover a conspiracy that frames him for murder and threatens his family’s lives and livelihood.
Pictured: After a near-fatal mishap, Keegan Dark (Blaise Embry) is examined by a doctor (Andy Copeland) who may not have Keegan’s best interests at heart.

Orlando Cruz lost his title fight on Saturday night in a knockout in the seventh round. He had a rough start to the evening, his gym bag misplaced, his entry music lost, and his hands not even taped fifteen minutes before the fight. Parts of the crowd were shouting “Puta, puta.” But his opponent, Orlando Salido, said Cruz being gay didn’t matter. “None of that stuff matters. He is a very strong, tough fighter.” As for Cruz, it’s time to relax, reflect. Oh – and get married to his fiancé on November 16th.

Queen Elizabeth II has requested television time to sign what is being called a historic pledge of non-discrimination in the Commonwealth. "We are implacably opposed to all forms of discrimination, whether rooted in gender, race, colour, creed, political belief or other grounds." Other grounds is meant to refer to Glbt people, but toned down to defer to members of the Commonwealth that still have draconian gay laws. While it sounds like a cop out to me, diplomatic sources say "The impact of this statement on gay and women’s rights should not be underestimated. Nothing this progressive has ever been approved by the United Nations. And it is most unusual for the Queen to request to sign documents in public, never mind call the cameras in."

Blue Seraph Productions announced that Travis Richey (Pretty Little Liars) will join the cast of The Dark Place, the mystery-thriller written by Jody Wheeler and to be helmed by Judas Kiss director J.T. Tepnapa.
Richey is famous for his brief turn as Inspector Spacetime -a running gag on the critically underrated NBC comedy series Community- that inspired (after NBC and Sony sort of said, “Yeah, no”) him and writing partner Eric Loya to create Untitled Web Series About A Space Traveler Who Can Also Travel Through Time. That web series was a huge success (hailed by USA Today as one of the Best TV on the Web in 2012) and the people that made it are now preparing to begin production on Season Two.
They’re also working on a “prequel” episode that will bridge the gap between season one and two, and you can visit their Kickstarter campaign to learn how you can help.

Director of Judas Kiss, Jt Tepnapa talks about his next two projects with writer Carlos Pedraza, writer Jody Wheeler and Cinematographer David Berry: The Dark Place & Something Like Summer here
Two and a half years ago, Kickstarter backers helped us make our first feature film, Judas Kiss, which went on to win many awards — and now it’s available all over the world! That critically acclaimed film about love, second chances and getting it right was a meaningful story, with relatable characters and top-notch production values.
We quickly raised enough funding to get two new feature films ready to shoot in 2013: The Dark Place and Something Like Summer, two very different stories. One is a mystery-thriller and the other an adaptation of a wonderful love story; both will be presented with all of the care and skill we brought to Judas Kiss.
This time out we want to do even better.

In an interview promoting Thanks For Sharing, his sex addiction movie, Mark Ruffalo provides an update on Ryan Murphy's The Normal Heart, which was supposed to have shot over the summer. "I'm expecting that to go in the spring; we couldn't do it in the summer. Larry Kramer and Ryan have been working on this new draft, which is really good, and they're able to do a lot more than even the play was able to do as far as sexuality and the real trials and tribulations of living with people in that time with AIDS and caring for them. I think it could be really powerful."

Selling tickets to a comic book convention is the last place organizers expected to encounter anti-gay hate groups and their allies. That’s exactly, though, what Bent-Con, the gay pop culture festival that celebrates Lgbtq contributions to the science fiction, fantasy, horror, comic book and gaming genres, did.
They did so in an obscure and arcane area of the internet most people aren’t familiar with: credit card payment processing gateways, lynchpins of internet transactions the world over.
“Honestly, it was something I wasn’t even expecting,” Bent-Con President Sean Holman said. “When you think about hate groups, you think of them with regards to anti-marriage efforts or against serving openly in the military. You don’t think about them in terms of internet payment systems. But there you go.”
Credit card payment gateways are the mechanism the internet uses to exchange information between websites and mobile phones and the banks.

Well, I have decided, for sure, wholeheartedly and under no other circumstances, that March will not end without me finishing a story treatment that I've been working on since late last year. I know that sounds very disciplined of me, but to be honest, it's not the first, second or even third month I have made such a proclamation to myself. After spending so much time writing about news and other non-fiction events, it can be tough to switch gears and suddenly concentrate on fiction. I'm not really sure how other people, like my friend Jody Wheeler, does it -- writing a story on his website DoorQ one minute, and then writing a screenplay the next. Worse for me, I'm not even trying to finish a screenplay. I'm just doing a treatment -- the steps after the story outline process, but ...

I can’t believe another Comic-Con is almost upon us. That whole, odd, everything goes faster when you are older thing really is rather annoying. Not that I don’t like Cc… it’s a fairly mind boggling event when you think about it… it’s just that I could have sworn I was just there.
This year is going to be different for two reasons. One, for the first part of the festival, I’ll get to show the insanity off to Timo Descamps and Danny De Jong. It’s going to be their last look at America for the year; they wing their way home to Belgium from San Diego. They already think we Americans are a bit… unique. It will be interesting to hear their opinions after they see throngs of armored, light-saber weilding, Pikachu’s dancing with thong-clad Skeletors and leather-bra wearing Conans.

It's no secret that I have been showing a lot of support for the independent film "Judas Kiss." It premiered a few weeks ago in Phoenix, and its next stop is a film festival in Miami Easter weekend, and I couldn't be more excited about it. Two people I truly admire -- J.T. Tepnapa and Carlos Pedraza -- were involved in this film from start to finish. Joining them was a wonderful cast and crew that brought the words I enjoyed in the script to life on the silver screen. Because I have such a fond personal interest in "Judas Kiss," it's kind of hard for me to be entirely objective. But I make every effort to do so. When Jody Wheeler, a co-producer of the film and the site maestro for the gay-themed science-fiction site DoorQ asked me to take a look at the script more than a year ago,...

The Phoenix Film Festival has picked Judas Kiss to screen in its opening weekend, in a primetime slot on Friday, April 1.
The event, which begins with an exclusive party the night before, is a partnership between the 11-year-old mainstream festival, Phoenix Pride and the Desperado Gay and Lesbian Film Festival.
We’re thrilled that Judas Kiss’ screening is the result of a collaboration by these community organizations, and that our film gets such a great platform to attract a broad audience.
According to the Phoenix Film Festival website, Judas Kiss will screen at 7:25 pm on Friday, April 1, at the Harkins Scottsdale/101 Theatre 7.
Check out the listing and add it to your calendar if you’re attending the festival. Doing those things increases our “buzz” score on the festival website, which could bring more people to the screening. Right now, we’re No. 3 — help make us No. 1!

From the press release:
Gay Adult Superstar Brent Corrigan Wraps Leading Role In Tim Sullivan’S Mainstream Horror-comedy“Chillerama: I Was A Teenage Werebear”
Gay adult superstar Brent Corrigan has just wrapped the leading role in writer/director Tim Sullivan’s segment of the horror-comedy anthology feature film “Chillerama”. Homage to the Drive-In movies of the50’s and 60’s, “Chillerama” is collaboration between Sullivan and fellow filmmakers Adam Rifkin (“Detroit Rock City”), Adam Green (“Hatchet”) and Joe Lynch (“Wrong Turn 2”).
“Each one of us is doing homage to a different genre and style,” explained Sullivan. “I choose the surf musicals of the 60’s crossed with “Lost Boys”and “Twilight”. As a gay man, I’ve always been drawn to the queer subtext in films depicting teenage angst, whether it be James Dean’s relationship to Sal Mineo in “Rebel Without a Cause” or Zac Efron’s emotional tug...

The Great Migration is coming.
To put it simply, we've outgrown doorQ.com. Well, I should say, we've outgrown the software for doorQ.com. It was great when we started -- a custom design by James that pulled together everything I wanted under one roof. There really wasn't a turnkey like it three years ago. Now there is. Now there are better options, open source software that does everything this doorQ.com software does and more. Oh, and easier. It's time to take advantage of that.
Soon, the entire site will be migrating to a WordPress install. We'll probably migrate within two weeks -- depends upon how things go behind-the-scenes. Reedy and I are working out the particulars. Mainly, Reedy has to map the existing database onto a new database that Word Press can read. The kicker is figuring out what stored information is going to easily slip over and what information isn't.

Only 30 shorts are nominated to compete for The Iris Prize. The winner receives the largest award for a short film: £25,000.
"Saying his 'this frakking awesome,' really does out me as a geek, doesn't it?" the film's director, Jody Wheeler, said about the nomination. "There are so many incredible films on the list. I know it's considered a cliche but, at least for me, it's true: I really am honored to be nominated."
Other films nominated include The Island by Trevor Anderson (Canada), The Bath by Lee Mi-rang (South Korea), and Teddy by Christopher Banks (New Zealand).
