What's Holi without new Holi songs? Bollywood filmmakers have churned out songs about the festival of colours down the decades. This year may have seen no new film song owing to the complete shutodwn of Bollywood through most of 2020, but many singers have come out with new non-film songs for Holi.

The music of director Anand.L. Rai's movie "'Raanjhanaa" has eight tracks. Since the movie is based in Benaras, composer A.R. Rahman has included the regional flavour in most of the tracks. Use of a lot of instruments in all the songs is also evident.
The soundtrack kicks off with "Raanjhanaa", a high on energy number. Sung by Jaswinder Singh and Shiraz Uppal, it is not exactly a sugarcoated romantic number but its rhythmic beats make you tap your feet and you may put the.

Looking back at 2012 song-ically, it certainly was a year of cool sounds, new voices, groovy and groovin’ beats and over all some killer tracks. Many of the songs brought a new vibe to the music of the movies, songs flavored with new influences, and songs that we never would have thought we would hear in a Bollywood flick. There were classic beats that got us up and dancing not to mention the grooves of today that got us to move to the music. We met some new singers we can’t wait to hear more of and some of our favorites blew us away with outstanding vocals. 2012 was full of surprises and we enjoyed so many of them, 50 in fact and every single note! As always we loved these songs when they first came out but once we saw them in the movie we loved them even more! Check out...

Dibakar Banerjee is back with the political thriller Shanghai starring Abhay Deol and Emraan Hashmi. The director has adapted Vassilis Vassiliko’s novel ‘Z’ to a modern Indian theme, subject, world and story. Both ‘Z’ and Shanghai are about the real-life assassination of a dynamic politician. According to the director, “Shanghai is a political thriller that looks at how politics – the tools of power- is remote controlled by the governing class over the poor, uneducated masses in India”. In charge of adding the musical overtones to the film are the excellent composing duo Vishal Dadlani and Shekhar Ravjiani aka Vishal-Shekhar. When I sat down to first listen to the music on the Ost, I had no idea what to expect. What I found was a surprising mix of driving beats, lovely notes, cool grooves and of course fabulous vocals. Let’s take a look at each track.

2011 was a great year for music in the Hindi film industry with an eclectic mix of styles, moods, vibes, beats, fresh new sounds and cool grooves. The songs ranged from romantic ballads, to full on rock, to the playful, the funny, the traditional, the internationally flavored ones and everything in-between and even some with the track tinged with a little bit of each. So many of the soundtracks this year were so good that it was not just one song that was killer good, it was most of them. Because so many albums this year were such a good collection of brilliant songs, think Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara, Delhi Belly, Rockstar and more, we had a tough time limiting ourselves to 25 Best Songs of the year, so we thought why try and decided to go with 50! We now present the 50 best songs of 2011!
