Korto Momolu was sent home from “Runway” last week in the confounding “Double Bind” challenge leaving five designers competing for another chance at the “Project Runway” title: Brittany Allen (Season 18), Prajje Oscar Jean Baptiste (Season 19), Laurence Basse (Season 15), Bishme Cromartie (Season 17), and Rami Kashou (Season Four). “When I come into the room, you might not like me, you might not love me, but dammit, you’re going to remember who I was,” says Korto Momolu in the “Project Runway” after show following her elimination from the episode “Double Bind.” “Growing up I used to be so quiet people used to leave me places, believe it or not. While y’all were getting in trouble I was writing my master plan. A lot of people sacrificed a lot in my family for me to be who I am. You’re going to notice I was here.” Watch her interview with Christian Siriano above.

I don’t follow the Bravo reality series “Below Deck,” so Captain Lee Rosbach immediately got my attention on “Project Runway” when he told the designers at the start of the episode “Below Decked Out,” “You guys are going to be busier than the door knob at a whorehouse on nickel night.” Well, Rosbach was missing from the episode after that since he wasn’t one of the clients in this real client challenge or one of the guest judges who decided the winner and loser, but he does show up for Christian Siriano‘s “Runway” after show. Watch above.
“I think the fans love you, so they’re going to be excited to see you,” Siriano tells him, but Rosbach doesn’t consider himself a celebrity. “I’m just a captain that happens to get filmed. I’m still responsible for every swinging dick on there.” But the yacht...

By the end of his run on “Project Runway” season 20, Fabio Costa had been yanked back and forth by the judges, getting one critique from them for two weeks straight and then being told the opposite on his way out the door. Anyone in his position might have been confused. Perhaps that’s why only 29.59% of the fans we polled thought he deserved to be eliminated in “Fashion, Inside Out.” That means more than 70% thought he should have stayed in the competition. Scroll down for our complete poll results.
In “Seeing Red” and “Like Totally ’90s,” Costa was told by judge Nina Garcia that his designs were too quiet and safe. So he pumped up the volume for “Inside Out,” in which designers had to create looks that highlighted couture undergarments … and was told he needed to edit himself down. Specifically, fabric hanging from his model’s midsection obscured the whole look.

Hester Sunshine was eliminated from “Project Runway” last week in episode five, “Seeing Red,” when the designers had to create looks using the same bolt of red fabric. Unfortunately for Hester, it was a material she was unaccustomed to working with, so she ended up with fit problems and construction problems that she was never able to iron out, so to speak. The “Seeing Red” challenge threw the “Project Runway” designers for a loop. It ended with the elimination of Hester Sunshine, but many seemed to think Anna Zhou was the least deserving. Will the results tonight in “Like Totally ’90s” be just as contested?
Kayne Gillaspie sat down with Zhou at the end of “Seeing Red” to ask if she thought it was fair that Sunshine was eliminated for sending something new down the runway when Zhou got high marks for what he thought was a derivative design. Korto Momolu thought it was “bullshit” that Zhou had one of the judges’ favorite looks. It was all because Zhou created a dress with ruffles that her rivals thought was too reminiscent of what she created in “Toying with Fashion.”

But fashion is subjective, so it’s hard to pinpoint exactly what the judges are looking for from week to week.

Anna Zhou sparked quite a controversy among the “Project Runway” designers last week when she was named one of the judges’ favorites in the “Seeing Red” challenge. Her fellow designers thought she repeated the look she created for the unconventional materials challenge, “Toying with Fashion.” Korto Momolu in particular thought the judges’ decision was “bullshit.” We asked our readers what they thought. Scroll down to see the complete poll results.
Momolu predicted that this one “Runway” result would divide the designers from there on out. And it certainly did that to our readers, who disagreed sharply about Zhou’s design. Ultimately, though, most of our respondents (55.91%) thought the look she created in “Seeing Red” was original, and I personally agree with that assessment. Just because both looks incorporated ruffles doesn’t make them the same.

What does it take to win a design challenge on “Project Runway”? That’s the question the designers face every week on the fashion competition series where one day you’re in and the next day you’re out. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, so the judges’ tastes and expectations can be a moving target. But there are a few generally consistent ways you can impress the panel: be original and forward-thinking, be modern, demonstrate a clear and consistent artistic vision, and for the love of God don’t be boring. All things being equal, it’s better to be ambitious than to play it safe. Scroll down to see who met those high standards and won their challenges every week in season 20, which was a special “All-Stars” edition of the series.

“Project Runway” has its first bona fide controversy of season 20. Episode five, “Seeing Red,” was aptly titled because it ended with a tense, uncomfortable room full of designers stewing over the results. Did you agree with the contestants who were irate? Vote in our polls at the bottom of this post.
The “Seeing Red” challenge was mentor Christian Siriano‘s own idea. As a test of the designers’ creativity, their mission was to design whatever kind of look they wanted — no holds barred — with the sole restriction that they all had to use the same bolt of fabric. No one could show off to the judges with their own unique colors, patterns, or prints. It would be all about the design and construction of each garment.

The only thing more ruffled than Anna Yinan Zhou‘s look on this week’s episode of Project Runway were the feathers of her fellow designers.
Thursday’s challenge required the 11 remaining contestants to craft ensembles that conveyed their unique points of view. The catch? They all had to use 15 yards of the same red fabric, resulting in “a lot of very similar looks,” according to judge Nina Garcia, who was also disappointed by how many minimalist designs and simple draped looks she spotted on the runway.

‘Project Runway’ 20 episode 5 recap: The latest challenge has the designers ‘Seeing Red’ [Live Blog]
It has already been a topsy-turvy All-Stars season on “Project Runway.” The first challenge was all about redemption from past fashion sins and brought up such painful memories for one designer that he nearly self-eliminated. In fashion, one day you’re in and the next you’re out. That’s the guiding principle of “Project Runway,” now in its 20th season. Even in a year like this, which brings together experienced All-Star contestants from the show’s history, some outfits are bound to fail. The fashion design competition has strict time limits and no seamstresses around to help you sew, which can trip up even the most gifted artists. So who had the worst looks of the season according to judges Nina Garcia, Elaine Welteroth, and Brandon Maxwell? And did you agree with their withering criticisms? Last week’s “Project Runway” had a bit of a surprise ending. “Toying with Fashion” was an unconventional materials challenge where designers had to obtain their supplies from Fao Schwarz. Laurence Basse expressed disdain for the challenge from the beginning, and judge Nina Garcia chided her for not even trying. But they sent home Mila Hermanovski instead for an unfinished look without a point of view. Will we be surprised again this week?

Bravo’s Project Runway is back with its most epic competition yet. Season 20 of the fashion design competition series returns this June, and it brings together 14 beloved designers from past seasons for a high-stakes, all-star outing.
‘Project Runway’ Season 20 premieres June 15
Hundreds of designers have passed through the Project Runway workroom since the show premiered in 2004. Most end up going home empty-handed. In the two-part season premiere, the designers return to the workroom to fight for one last chance to wow the judges and walk away with a career-changing win. On hand to provide guidance and support will be someone who knows exactly what they’re going through: mentor and season 4 winner Christian Siriano. Here is a wrap-up of all the news you need to know from Monday, May 8, 2023.
As the fate of the bulk of The CW's scripted series remains Tba, the network has picked up another Canadian import.
Son of a Critch is set to air on the network this summer.
The series is a coming-of-age story based on the childhood and adolescence of Canadian comedian Mark Critch.
At the beginning of the series, 11-year-old Mark is growing up in 1980s Newfoundland, where he navigates starting junior high school, making friends, and connecting with the small collection of people in his limited world.
“When I was a young kid watching American TV in the ‘80s, I never dreamed that one day my own story would be beamed back over the border,” said Mark Critch.
“Having enjoyed so many CW shows with my own family, I’m excited to invite our American friends over to ‘my house.

If it were up to us, "Project Runway" would never be "out," it would just play on a loop 24/7/365.
Sadly, Season 14 will say auf wiedersehen on Thursday, November 5th, so now seems like a good time to take stock and rank the previous 13 seasons, with the expectation that the 2015 season will probably fall somewhere in the middle of the pack once it's done. (Tim Gunn "hated" Season 14, but there have been worse.) Every season of PR is a precious, unique little rhinestone, but, like the judges, we have our favorites -- and now it's Our turn to be biased.
So here's our very subjective but still definitive worst-to-best ranking, which may only be challenged by a glare from Nina Garcia, an eye roll from Michael Kors, a "make it work" from Tim Gunn, or an "out" from Heidi Klum.
13. Season 11 (aka 'Teams')Maybe it seemed like a good, or at least dramatic,...

So, spoiler alert -- I spoke to the winner of "Project Runway All Stars," and I can only say so much before I have to reveal the gender, so let's just say don't click to the story if you don't want to know. Yes, Seth Aaron Henderson, the season 7 winner of "Project Runway" became the first designer to win a season of both shows. The Washington-based, self-taught designer beat out Korto Momolu and Elena Slivnyak on the final runway with a collection of color block, Spanish-inspired designs. The married dad gave me a call to talk about why he wanted...

The three remaining designers on Project Runway All Stars all breathed a sigh of relief last week when they found out they made it to the finale — but stress levels were high during the last episode. Each of the three designers are told they will present a six-piece collection — but, of course, there was a shocking twist that definitely brought on the stress!
‘Project Runway All Stars’ Finale Recap:
The contestants are informed that they only have Four days to come up with their entire collection, and they are each told that their heritage will serve as the inspiration. So, how will they get in tune with their culture? With a trip to the United Nations! For a second there I thought they would get to travel around the...

"Project Runway All Stars" has crowned it's champion of fashion. After the three finalists, Seth Aaron, Elena and Korto, presented collections based on each of their heritages, there was a clear winner for the judges.
Before the designers got to show off their work, they were thrown a bit of a curve ball in the form of colorful scarves. Each had to use one as part of one of their designs, which worked to varying degrees of success. Seth Aaron had the most luck, weaving it into a dress design.
The judges had nice things to say to everyone, though there were also some issues that needed to be addressed. Elena had some definite fitting problems with her designs and, while the upper half of her work looked fantastic, the judges weren't too impressed by te lack of attention to detail on the bottom half.

Is it just me or has this short season of Project Runway All Stars actually seemed pretty long? Maybe it's Alyssa Milano's robotic hosting or maybe it's the lame challenges or maybe it's Seth Aaron's guy-liner. Anyway, I'm glad this mess will be wrapping up tonight. Let's hope Seth Aaron, Korto, and Elena's collections are less disappointing than this season.

A familiar face returns as the designers are challenged with another competition that features many twists and turns — but who will be in and who will be out?
Host Alyssa Milano introduces a familiar face to the designers: Nina Garcia of Marie Claire and Project Runway judge! Having recently become a part of editorial platform HallofStyle.com, Nina asks the contestants to pair up with a blogger featured on the website to showcase a trend for 2014. Several twists make up this challenge; not only will the bloggers be the designers’ models, but in the look they must incorporate Pantone’s color for 2014, radiant orchid. The winning look will be endorsed by Nina in a video that will appear on Hall of Style’s home page that will be viewed by the websites some fifty million subscribers. The winner will also receive a prize package from Pantone worth over $10,000! Not too shabby.

As the third season launches tonight, the usually unflappable (and out) Zee, who also happens to be the Creative Director at Elle Magazine since 2007, finds his head about to pop off in frustration as he works with the New York-based Unruly Heir designers,...

First, The CW announces an all-star version of America’s Next Top Model. And now, Lifetime tells us that we’ll see some of our favorite reality stars back on an all-star edition of Project Runway?! Is 2011 just a year-long Christmas?! Because this is quite a gift to us pop-culture junkies: In addition to a ninth season of the Emmy-nominated fashion competition, the network will air Project Runway All Stars, eight one-hour episodes featuring previous contestants. This makes it slightly different than the two-hour Project Runway: All-Stars Challenge, which saw the return of players Jeffrey Sebelia, Santino Rice, Daniel Vosovic,...

Some of these Project Runway alums are certainly making themselves known in the fashion industry, even though they didn't win the competition. Season 5 fan favorite Korto Momolu recently unveiled a new collection of hers, but it's a bit different from what you think. It's a line of accessories for retail store Dillard's.

Let us put our proud, fiercely fashionable hands together for Project Runway season 4 castmates Christian Siriano and Chris March, who nearly made me weep with nutty fan pride last weekend when they dressed two ravishing divas for the Golden Globes. Siriano wrapped voluptuous Mad Men beauty Christina Hendricks in a cocoon of ruffled peach silk, while March made Best Actress winner (and perennially brilliant woman) Meryl Streep look stunning in a drapey black gown that showed off her lovely neck and shoulders. Of the two,...

Last night "Project Runway" premiered on its new network with its highest-ever first-night ratings -- a 3.3 household rating -- but before the new season got underway, Lifetime TV aired a one-time-only, two-hour "Project Runway: All Stars" with some of the top designers from past seasons, including Santino Rice, Jeffrey Sebelia, Chris March, Sweet P, Korto Momolu, who finished second, and the champion and winner of the $100,000 prize: Daniel Vosovic. The morning after his win, Et spoke with Daniel about how he will spend his cash, and if Nicole Kidman will be wearing his winning design on the red carpet for the premiere of her upcoming movie. Et: Congratulations. Does this win mean more than it would have to win your season, since the competition was the best of the best? Daniel Vosovic: I will be honest; it felt really good. Like you said, the bar was raised with this group and this challenge.
