Ellen DeGeneres will executive produce the hour-long special coming this summer
If you know Tig Notaro’s deadpan comedy, you know she’s never one to get too animated on stage, though that’s exactly what she’ll be doing for her new stand-up comedy special.
Notaro has set her next stand-up comedy special at HBO to premiere this summer, and the special will be the first fully animated hour of stand-up comedy.
Ellen DeGeneres is executive producing the special, which reunites the two after working together on both Netflix specials “Tig Notaro Happy to Be Here” in 2018 and “Ellen DeGeneres: Relatable,” which Notaro co-directed.
Notaro worked with animation studio Six Point Harness to produce the special. The studio has previously worked on the Oscar-winning short “Hair Love” as well as “Lazor Wulf,” “Guava Island” and “Waffles + Mochi.”

Exclusive: Supermarket Sweep is back in the shopping aisles.
Deadline understands that ABC’s reboot of the classic game show, starring SNL alum Leslie Jones, is now back in production. It becomes the latest high-profile non-scripted entertainment series to resume shooting after the Covid-19 production shutdown.
Shooting started Friday in California with rigorous health and safety protocols put in place by producer Fremantle. The show is being shot with minimal crew and no audience.
It is adhering to all of the union and industry production guidelines, as well as state and local requirements, and as you can imagine crew will be wearing PPE equipment, masks and having their temperatures taken regularly.
One positive note to emerge from the production resumption is that all of the edible produce and grocery items that you’ll see on screen – a show essentially filmed in a mock-up of a supermarket – will be donated to...

After months of negotiations, ABC has closed a deal to bring back the classic TV game show Supermarket Sweep with a new incarnation hosted and executive produced by Saturday Night Live alumna Leslie Jones.
Produced by Fremantle, the new Supermarket Sweep with Jones was taken out in August, attracting bids from multiple networks, both traditional broadcasters and streamers. ABC, home of the original Supermarket Sweep and an extensive slate of classic game show revivals, soon emerged as a frontrunner, kicking off lengthy dealmaking. Production on the 10-episode order is set to begin this spring.
Jones, a big Supermarket Sweep fan growing up, has been a driver behind the revival of the classic show, created by Al Howard.
“I’ve always dreamed of being on Supermarket Sweep,” she said. “Seriously, I tried out for the show years ago; and after getting turned away, I knew I’d have to take matters into my own hands.
