In the never-ending attempt to bring ever greater spectacle to the Las Vegas Strip, Wynn Las Vegas is the latest resort working to up the ante. Today, it announced a new show, Awakening, that will open on Nov. 7.
Not only will the production include narration by Anthony Hopkins, but Awakening — with a creative team that includes multiple Emmy and Tony Award winners — will also be presented in a custom-built theater in the round that features a 60-foot stage with 80-foot ceilings. The resort describes that stage as “prismatic,” thanks to it being made from dichroic glass as well as LED screens.
“The show had to be on a Las Vegas scale — bigger and more over the top,” Baz Halpin, the show’s director and a producer tells The Hollywood Reporter. He details that thanks to the design of the 360-degree theater, “As an audience member,...

It's been less than a year since Blip launched its Blip Studios wing, but the site's Newfronts presentation showed that its original content library is very healthy and about to grow even bigger. The big news was Blip's partnership with Ray William Johnson, but the platform's representatives also touted several new and returning series, with a particular focus on creating content suitable for both genders. The event's host was comedian Rob Huebel, and his upcoming Blip series, Mainly Murder, was the first trailer shown. Huebel, who frequently interacted with the crowd and high-fived attendees, also introduced other important folks, such as My Damn Channel co-founder Rob Barnett, who discussed his company's recent partnership with Blip. Several of Blip's upcoming and returning series are targeted at women; My Damn Channel's Grace Helbig, whose audience consists mainly of young women, appeared at the event to discuss the proliferation of her Daily Grace vlog on Blip.

The singer's sequin ensemble totally stole the spotlight last night -- find out where you can get the exact skirt (and the look for less). Shop! Fan favorite and adorable American Idol contestant Jessica Sanchez always seems to shine in front of the judges, and last night was no exception. While some may have been more focused on her singing, it was her sequin tribal skirt that grabbed my attention -- it's so trendy and fun, especially for spring and summer! Upon closer inspection, we discovered that her get-up was actually and dress -- and we tracked down the exact look she was wearing on stage, along with a more affordable option, if you want to emulate the crooning cutie's look. The show's stylist, Soyon An, dressed Jessica in Parker's Sequined Racer Dress, which retails for $374. She completed the look with a two-tone Bod & Christensen leather jacket. If you want...

Meet Soyon An, American Idol style consultant for several seasons now. She operates behind the scenes, but her work is seen by millions. This season, not only will she style the girls but she was asked to make over the boys image, as well. An meets with the Idol finalists weekly and aids each in shaping their image and discovering their unique style, which becomes more evident as the show's season progresses.
To kick off Season 11, the stylist had the Top 13 finalist put together their favorite fashion look. Each contestant was asked to give An a tear sheet, or several, of looks they loved from fashion magazines. Such an assignment gives An a crash course on each guy or girl and their style. From this point An will have a good idea of what to work with in moving forward for the fittings, which occur in preparation for performance (Wednesdays) and results (Thursdays) nights.

Will "The Pacific" sweep the technical awards or will the miniseries share some of the love with its sister HBO program, the moving biopic "Temple Grandin," starring Claire Danes?

Carrie Underwood is taking a page out of J.Lo's fashion book with a sexy black halter catsuit number from her "Play On" tour.
People reports that "American Idol" costume designer Soyon An helped Underwood with her tour attire. "She starts off with a white jacket on the top, and then she takes that off to reveal the Swarovski crystal criss-cross halter," says An.
"She's very fashion forward and very open to different types of clothing," the designer continues. "She wasn't intimidated at all-she was ready for it. It's a tough look but it's her attitude-and obviously she's got the body for it."
An also designed the strap for Carrie's guitar. "I designed [it] to match all three outfits in the [opening] segment. It was a very black-and-white formal and girly feeling," An explains.
Throughout the tour, Carrie wears 14 different outfits that, in various incarnations, combine to make 29 different looks. An says...

Wondering how your fave Idol’s go from girl next door to totally gorgeous? With the help of a seasoned stylist, of course!
I always think it’s fun to watch American Idol contestants totally transform their looks — whether it’s watching the current contestants from week to week or looking back at the super famous Idol winners — star power isn’t just about singing, a killer look is crucial for these performers! I got to catch up with Soyon An, the stylist for American Idol and designer (she crafted Carrie Underwood’s tour wardrobe), where she told me all about how she helps the Idol girls get glam! “All three girls that are left are so different,” Soyon said about the remaining ladies, Crystal Bowersox, Katie Stevens, and Siobhan Magnus.
Soyon said she has been working with the girls since they secured spots in the top 24 contestants.

Everybody knows that image is an important part of being a popstar, and it's no different on American Idol, where the finalists are often critiqued both on their vocals and their wardrobe. With season nine of the Fox competition fully under way, we caught up with the show's Emmy Award-winning costume designer Soyon An - who also works with the So You Think You Can Dance contestants and on the Idol tour - to chat about how she creates the finalists' looks, dealing with tricky customers and why she prefers not to have favorites... What's your process for designing the outfits for each night?
"On So You Think You Can Dance, I have to talk to the choreographers about their concept for the dance piece. On Idol, the contestants and I talk about their song choice and their planned performance, then we get to go shopping and (more)...
