The members of Chocolate Milk Mommies, a parenting group in Birmingham, Alabama, are proud to breastfeed their children. But they say nursing at all — let alone in public — often carries a negative stigma within the Black community.
“It is taboo within the African American home to breastfeed your child, let alone to do it past the age of 1,” one member of the group, Rauslyn Adams, 26, tells People. “Breastfeeding has been seen by some African American women as reverting to ‘slavery days’ when feeding a child by breast was the only option.”

Like many of you, I grew up in a time when cereal companies would put actual prizes in cereal boxes. I used to love buying cereal with prizes and I remember going home and digging through the box so that I could get my hands on it! It’s sad that kids these days will never know the awesomeness of that experience! Now they provide you with a code that you have to input on a web site just to enter to get the prize, and most of the time it’s not even guaranteed. I guess it's easier than some of the toys you had to mail in for back in the day!
I was telling my kids about the prizes I used to get recently and it fascinated them. So I started searching online to see if I could find some of the things I remember getting from...

A friend of mine was complaining about how there aren’t any more Saturday morning cartoons on teevee. I wasn’t the only one who thought, “damn, bro, through the miracle of cable teevee we’ve got cartoons everywhere, all the time.”
Then I started to think about it from a historical perspective. Saturday morning cartoons started when local teevee programmers started turning their lights on early sometime around 1950, recognizing that small children were attracted to the boob tube like babes to teat. Somebody in the advertising community realized that kids have enormous influence over their parents’ breakfast cereal purchasing decisions. Not coincidentally, Kellogg’s came out with Frosted Flakes and Sugar Pops in 1951 and Sugar Smacks in 1953. Also not coincidentally, the incubation period for diabetes is about 30 years, which is why this particular plague has been devastating the Baby Boomers for over 15 years now.

Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Season 2, Episode 2, “Chocolate Milk”
Written by
Directed by Fred Gross
Airs Sundays at 8:30pm Et on Fox
The second episode of Brooklyn Nine-Nine’s sophomore season fires on all cylinders.
“Chocolate Milk” may not be the funniest instalment of the hit TV series, but there are plenty of profane laughs as they set up Terry Crews and Andy Samberg as a hilariously off-kilter comedy duo. Meanwhile the B-plots and C-plots serve as a reminder as to why the series is just so special. Holt is taken by surprise when his longtime nemesis, Deputy Chief Madeline Wuntch (Kyra Sedgwick) arrives to evaluate his work with the precinct. Meanwhile, Jake and Terry test the boundaries of “work friends” vs. “friend friends” as Jake helps Terry, when getting a vasectomy. Terry admits he’s not ready to go through with the operation and that sets off Jake to help in his foolish ways.

A quick review of tonight's "Brooklyn Nine-Nine" coming up just as soon as I embarrass myself in front of Derek Jeter... There's plenty of funny stuff for the whole "Brooklyn" ensemble in "Chocolate Milk," from Gina slapping Boyle at the thought of them being "bone bros" to Santiago's eyes going wide with terror at the realization that she just yelled at her captain, to the spectacle of Terry being high. (In addition to the spectacle of Jake clinging to Terry's ankle as Terry easily continues walking.) Solid episode all-around. But the highlight, by far, is the introduction of Kyra Sedgwick as Holt's partner-turned-nemesis, Madeline Wuntch. Despite the badge and deputy chief ranking, this is in no way a parody of Sedgwick's role on "The Closer" — though it is funny to have two of TV's greatest interrogators facing off — but a chance for a fine comic actress to prove she can...

Touring across the world with their immensely popular fifth album, Mylo Xyloto, Coldplay have released a long-awaited new live film this week, Live 2012, marking their first full live album/concert film in almost a decade.
By far one of my favourite concert films of all time, Live 2012 is directed by Paul Dugdale, whose impressively long list of credits features some of the biggest names in the industry, including (but not limited to) Adele, The Killers, Rihanna, The Prodigy, David Guetta, Jessie J, Lostprophets, The Kooks, Labrinth, Calvin Harris, Skrillex, and most recently Emeli Sandé – a picture of awesomeness clearly starts to emerge.
Whilst busy in the editing room, having just filmed Emeli Sandé’s performance last week at the Royal Albert Hall in London, I had the opportunity to speak to Dugdale about his work with Coldplay on Live 2012, following its theatrical release across the globe last week.

Robert G. Putka‘s Mouthful and Jared Varava‘s Tumbleweed! are two short films that have been selected to screen at the 2012 SXSW Film Festival, which will run in Austin, TX on March 9-17.
Mouthful is Putka’s second short film, a verbally raunchy comedy starring Eilis Cahill and Conor Casey as a young couple whose relationship becomes strained thanks to an overly frank discussion about their sexual histories. The film was recently reviewed on Bad Lit: The Journal of Underground Film saying “one shouldn’t assume too much how the premise of a young man and woman discussing [male] anatomy will play out.”
Putka has also mounted an IndieGoGo campaign to help fund his filmmaking team’s trip to SXSW and for marketing material, such as posters, T-shirts, press kits and such. If you want to help out, please visit the Mouthful IndieGoGo page.

We’re headed into the final week of holiday shopping, which means there are plenty of folks looking for a thoughtful but easy-to-buy gift for someone on their list.
May we suggest a bottle?
As in a bottle of booze, a bottle of wine, even a bottle of beer (albeit not your supermarket six-pack variety). Yes, just like last year, Speakeasy is proud to serve up its 12 Bottles of Christmas, a compendium of singular sips...

Former High School Musical star Ashley Tisdale has launched a new cheerleading challenge to find America's top squad.
The actress, who played cheerleader Sharpay Evans in the hit Disney film and TV series, has channelled her onscreen character and stepped in front of the camera for the Got Milk? campaign.
And, as part of the project, Tisdale has launched the Be Strong Challenge - a quest to find a strong-willed cheerleading squad, which uses milk to stay at the top of its game.
She says, "I definitely have an appreciation for cheerleaders. I was on a show where I had to be a cheerleader, I did Pop Warner (youth cheerleading) when I was younger. And it takes a lot of energy, and a lot of hard work... The Be Strong Challenge is really cool. Cheerleading squads get to upload videos of a custom cheer, showing them how they can be strong with the Got Milk? campaign."
The winning team will receive $5,000 (GBP3,125) and front their own Got Milk? ad, which will be featured in U.S. publication American Cheerleading Magazine.
Tisdale dons the famous 'milk moustache' for her new Got Milk? ad and says, "Being an athlete, I work out all the time, and my trainer told me, 'Chocolate milk is the best (way) to refuel after a work out.' It keeps your energy up, it's got a great balance of protein and all the great nutrients."
Ironically, California schools are currently locked in a debate about whether or not to pull chocolate milk from lunch menus.

Charlie Sheen's drink of choice? Chocolate milk. Or so he says on Twitter.
Sheen, who has blazed past 200,000 followers and counting in only a few hours after joining the social networking service, issued his first tweet on Tuesday night. It promoted winning, dairy products and juice.
"Winning..! Choose your Vice... #winning #chooseyourvice http://twitpic.com/455ly9," Sheen tweeted, with the link sending followers to a picture of he and Rach, one of his two goddesses, holding up drinks. Fittingly, she was holding up Naked brand juice. Though the company that produces the juice may not think that.
Here's a photo of the tweet.
Follow Sheen on Twitter at @CharlieSheen for the latest updates. Perhaps he'll give healthy meal recommendations next.

This book has been on my reading list for a while, seeing as I fell in love with the concept merely with the title alone. You see, I am a genius of unspeakable evil and I was class president (Class of 2002, Howell High School...I have the varsity jacket to prove it), so naturally it was a given that I read this book. For varying reasons, I hadn't fit it into my reading schedule until recently. My girlfriend's car broke down, so that meant I had to drive her to her shift at J.C. Penney's. Not content to just drop her off at the mall (only to have to go and pick her up again), I wandered around Borders and found this book in the Bargain Bin for the third time. The other two times I'd managed not to succumb to the pressure of purchase, but the third was too much to ask.

R&B multi-platinum recording artist Ginuwine has a new route.
He's the new Sexy Chocolate Milkman for a beverage called Adult Chocolate Milk, which is not like any chocolate milk you've ever had.
This stuff is a vodka-based drink that tastes exactly like chocolate milk, but is a whopping 40 proof. You will not want to dip cookies in this stuff.
You can find this yummy intoxicant in restaurants, bars and liquor stores in September in CA, Az, Nm, and Nv, and nationally in 2011.
One wonders: A. If there is actually any real milk in this stuff and B. if it's a good source of calcium.
Ginuwine will be on billboards on the Vegas Strip soon and there's also a national TV commercial planned.
Of his billboard photo shoot -- dressed up in an old-fashioned milkman white uniform with a cap, his black bow tie suggestively undone -- he admits: "It was a blast,...
