The vignettes that open I Slay on Christmas, the new anthology film from producer Phil Herman, are almost hallucinogenic in their disassociated content and styles. A man runs through the woods only to find his adversary, a pine cone, floating in the air ahead of him as a voice intones his fate. Another man sits on a couch as the weatherman talks about unseasonably warm weather and how it’s helping a virus to spread. When we see him again, he’s bleeding from the nose and mouth and looks like a zombie.

"For a clown named Giggles, you're not very funny..." Send in the, um, killers of clowns? An official trailer for a horror-thriller titled Kill Giggles has debuted online and it's, uh, quite a peculiar watch. The indie film claims to flip the "killer clowns" trope on its head and ask us: "But what if there was a serial killer Of clowns, terrorizing them with fear instead?" Not exactly reinventing the wheel, but it definitely is riding on the coattails of Joker. The director describes this as "a harrowing Hitchcockian horror story that will take a timeless terror trope and turn it on its rainbow wig-covered head." The film stars Michael Ray Williams as Tommy, with a cast including Ellie Church, Patrick G. Keenan, Nereida Velazquez, Felissa Rose, Vernon Wells, and Judith O'Dea. It's a super low budget production and looks it, in every way. Beware. Here's the first official trailer...

Monster X is a fun monster flick which gives a twist to some of the classic monsters of the genre. As with most horror anthologies it has varying degrees of success, but with the movie’s short running times each of the films are direct in their approach, so it moves at a good pace and doesn’t feel drawn out.
The stories are connected by a sub story involving a couple of their first date to a Frightfest horror marathon, but unbeknown to them during this showing the monsters on the screen are also coming to life in the cinema. Set up as its own standalone story, the segments in the cinema do not necessary have a real connection to each of the short film, but thanks to some...
