Steven Caple Jr.’s Creed II, the long-anticipated follow-up to Ryan Coogler’s 2015 film Creed, itself a spin-off of the Sylvester Stallone Rocky franchise, is quite simply put – gold dust. I'm sorry to have to turn you into an emotional mess so early in the day, but I really need everyone to see this video of Ryan Coogler's adorable interaction with a young Black Panther fan.
On a recent episode of Epix's Elvis Goes There, host Elvis Mitchell caught up with the director in his hometown of Oakland, CA, to chat about the backdrops of some of Coogler's most popular projects. In the middle of the video while the two were at a boxing gym discussing Creed, Coogler was surprised by a young girl dressed up as Shuri from Black Panther for Halloween.

Journalist, film critic and radio host Elvis Mitchell got to travel the world and interview renowned filmmakers about their hometowns and inspirations in his new docuseries “Elvis Goes There” on Epix.
“Each place was very specific and came to mean much more than I could’ve imagined,” Mitchell told Variety.
Mitchell sits down with “Black Panther” director Ryan Coogler in Oakland, Calif., in the second episode, which airs Feb. 11. Heavily impacted by his hometown, Coogler set the entire story of his debut feature film “Fruitvale Station” and the prologue of Marvel blockbuster “Black Panther” in the city. The two discussed the history, culture and deeply political roots of Oakland, where the Black Panther party formed in 1966.
“Ryan Coogler is the hottest director on the planet,” Mitchell said. “I cannot imagine the number of emails and phone calls that he put aside to shoot for three days of his astonishingly busy schedule.

Adonis returned to the ring last year for his most important match yet in Creed II, and you'll get the chance to bring it home in glorious 4K Ultra HD, with bonus features, in the next couple months. come inside for all the details!
Warner Bros. has announced the home entertainment release for Creed II, and I couldn't be more excited. I missed out on this in theaters (parenthood!), so I've been eager to see the follow-up to one of my favorite films of the past decade.
Thankfully we won't have to wait long. The film will arrive digitally on February 12th, but if you're holding out on that sweet, sweet physical release it'll be here on March 5th with a handful of bonus features:
Fight for legacy, destiny and family when “Creed II” arrives on 4K Ultra HD Combo Pack, Blu-ray Combo Pack, DVD and Digital. From Metro Goldwyn...

Here we go. We’ve got two new TV spots to share with you for Creed II. The first is called “Fight,” the second is called “Champions,” and they offer us a heart-pounding look at the journey that awaits Adonis Creed (Michael B. Jordan) and Rocky Balboa (Sylvester Stallone) as they face their greatest threat… Ivan Drago (Dolph Lundgren) and his son Viktor (Florian Munteanu).
This movie finally hits theaters this week! and it looks so freakin’ good! Enjoy the two new spots below!
There’s a lot of pressure on Adonis in this story. As you know, his dad Apollo was killed by Drago in Rocky IV. This isn’t a revenge film, though. This is a film about family and about life. Jordan previously said:
“Viktor’s storyline is very layered. The two guys are similar in a lot of ways. … Adonis feels, naturally, a certain animosity towards Viktor and Ivan,...

Creed was a major surprise. Seriously. As much as I love the Rocky franchise, was there any reason to assume that what was essentially Rocky VII, just without a focus on the character we know and love, would be a success? Sure, it had an exciting young actor at the center and an up and coming filmmaker in Ryan Coogler at the helm. But still, how good could it be? Well, the answer was that it turned out to be an Oscar nominee, a Golden Globe winning film, and one of the year’s best. Now, Creed II hits this week and, defying all odds, is nearly as good. This flick will also end up on a top ten list for me. It more than delivers, it flies high. What easily could have tarnished what’s come before instead movingly builds on it. This is one of the ten best...

“When a fighter ain’t got nothin’ to lose, he’s dangerous!”
I’ve got another must watch featurette for Creed II for you today. It’s called “Who’s In Your Corner?” and it puts the focus on the family bonds of the characters that help drive the story forward.
The featurette offers insightful interviews with the cast of the film sharing additional information on the characters that they play and what family means to them. It also shows off some new footage from the movie.
One thing that Rocky is truly afraid of is that history will repeat itself and he’ll lose Adonis Creed when he faces off with Viktor Drago. This new video really brings highlights the deep emotion of the characters and what they are all facing in this movie.
Here’s the synopsis for the film:
Life has become a balancing act for Adonis Creed.

We’ve got a new promo spot for you to watch for Creed II that introduces us to Ivan Drago’s son Viktor (Florian “Big Nasty” Munteanu). It makes a point of showing you how terrifying the character is!
Beating Viktor is not going to be easy for Adonis Creed (Michael B. Jordan) because is looks like Viktor is going to pummel him in the ring! As you’ll see in this video, he’s a monster!
You know what would make this movie unique? If Adonis lost the big fight at the end. After all, sometimes we can’t win them all. But, I’m sure that Adonis will beat him. I don’t know how, but he will.
Here’s the synopsis for the film:
Life has become a balancing act for Adonis Creed. Between personal obligations and training for his next big fight, he is up against the challenge of his life.

We’ve got a new poster to share with you today for the highly anticipated film Creed II. As you can see, it teases the epic fight between Adonis Creed (Michael B. Jordan) and Viktor Drago (Florian Munteanu) as they face off with each other.
We also see Rocky Balboa (Sylvester Stallone) face to face with Ivan Drago (Dolph Lundgren) for the first time since Rocky IV! I wonder if we’ll see these two get into a little scuffle in the movie.
Lundgren recently talked about Ivan Drago and offered up some information on what happen with Ivan after Rocky beat him in Rocky IV. You can read what he had to say about that here.

Dolph Lundgren is set to make his big return as Ivan Drago in Creed II. His son, Viktor (Florian Munteanu), challenges Adonis Creed (Michael B. Jordan) to a fight and Creed accepts. Regardless of the advice from the people around him, fighting the son of the man who killed his father, Apollo Creed, in the ring is just too tempting.
We know have some new details regarding Ivan Drago and what happened to him after Rocky beat him in Rocky IV. This information gives us a little insight on where Drago is coming from when the story of Creed II picks up.
In an interview with Empire, Lundrgen had this to say:
“Basically, my character has been in a living hell since ’85 and lost everything. The script reintroduces him as a pretty damaged character, emotionally, and somebody who’s suffered a lot physically from a hard life. I can identify with that quite easily.

MGM and Warner Bros have released the newest trailer for Creed 2, the follow-up to the hit Rocky franchise reboot that stars Michael B. Jordan as the son of Apollo Creed and Sylvester Stallone as Rocky Balboa, now training Jordan’s Adonis Creed. The studios are ramping up toward the pic’s November 21 release date.
The sequel, which has Steven Caple Jr taking over for Ryan Coogler in the director’s chair, takes a mighty swing at evolving the arc of one of the original series’ best characters: Rocky IV‘s Ivan Drago, who killed Apollo in the ring, setting up one of the franchise’s most epic fights when Drago and Rocky met.
In the new pic, written by Stallone, Drago (reprised by Dolph Lundgren) is training his son (Florian Munteanu), who wants a piece of Adonis. Adonis takes the fight as he and Rocky confront their shared legacy. Tessa Thompson...

Michael B. Jordan is taking on the fight of his life in a new trailer for “Creed II.”
In the trailer, Adonis Creed (Jordan) has to decide whether he wants to fight Viktor Drago (Florian Munteanu), the son of Ivan Drago, who infamously killed his father, Apollo Creed, in the ring years before, in “Rocky IV.”
Meanwhile, his family is struggling with his decision, as is Adonis’ mentor Rocky Balboa (Sylvester Stallone), who of course remembers Apollo dying in his arms.

“If we don’t do what we love, then we wouldn’t exist,” Jordan says in the trailer.
Stallone also wrote the new movie and produced along with Kevin King-Templeton, Charles Winkler, William Chartoff, David Winkler and Irwin Winkler. Executive producers include Ryan Coogler, who directed the 2015 hit “Creed,” along with Jordan and Guy Riedel.

We’ve got a new trailer for Creed II for you to watch and this one is sure to get you pumped up for the movie! It’s seriously an emotional and powerful trailer. In this next chapter of the story Adonis (Michael B. Jordan) and Rocky Balboa (Sylvester Stallone) will face Ivan Drago (Dolph Lundgren) and his son Viktor (Florian Munteanu). I just have to say that Viktor looks even scarier than his dad did in Rocky IV!
As you know, Adonis’ dad Apollo was killed by Drago in Rocky IV, and while you may think this is a revenge film, Jordan would have to disagree with you. He told the Toronto Sun the this is a film “about life.” He goes on to talk about the similarities between Viktor and Adonis saying:
“Viktor’s storyline is very layered. The two guys are similar in a lot of ways.

Season 5 of Mark Burnett’s boxing competition show “The Contender” is hoping to deliver a knockout punch when it premieres on Epix Friday night.
While much has changed in both the worlds of reality TV and professional boxing in the nine-plus years since the fourth season finale aired, the essence of the series has stayed the same, host Andre Ward told TheWrap.
“I think that it would be blasphemous for me to say that it [Season 5] is better” than the first four seasons, Ward said. “I just want people to view it, make their assessments and have their own judgment.”

Following the somewhat surprising success of Creed, there was little doubt that a sequel would follow, and Creed II is now only a few months away. It may be understandable, especially given where we are in the summer, but the release seems to need a push in fanfare as we head toward November 21st. The trailer is available – see below if you haven’t caught it already – but given that a wide variety of audiences fell for the first film, and Stallone stunned many when award season rolled around, you’d think the hype engine would be in full swing by now. Though it might not actually be late, pushing three months away for a major release makes me want to say that getting a couple of images is in the realm of “better late than never.” This is possibly most true because this one has some hurdles to get...

Two new photos have been released for Creed II featuring Adonis (Michael B. Jordan) and Rocky Balboa (Sylvester Stallone) preparing for the fight against Ivan Drago’s (Dolph Lundgren) son, Viktor (Florian Munteanu). One of the things that I have to point out in the first photo above is that Adonis is wearing a pair of American flag shorts just like his dad, Apollo!
I loved the first film and I'm excited about this sequel, especially after what we saw in the first trailer that was released. It just looks like it's going to be a solid sequel and I can't wait to see how this fight between Adnois and Viktor goes down!

Last year, Warner Bros. did well at the Oscars with Christopher Nolan‘s WWII epic “Dunkirk,” which won three of its eight bids. And the studio’s co-production “Blade Runner 2049” went two for five. This year, the studio has two more films that are poised to be a major player at the Academy Awards: Bradley Cooper‘s remake of “A Star is Born” and “Creed II,” the eighth installment in the “Rocky” franchise.
Making his directorial debut, Cooper also plays Jackson Maine, a country crooner who mentors would-be musician Ally (Lady Gaga). They fall in love and her star rises as his wanes. It’s a timeless story. Gaga goes brunette and deglamorizes while Cooper boasts a beard and a tan. The film features a slew of catchy new tunes.

Michael B. Jordan and Sylvester Stallone, reprising their Adonis Creed and Rocky Balboa characters, are facing a formidable foe in the first trailer for MGM and Warner Bros.’ “Creed II.”
“You’ve got everything to lose,” Stallone’s Balboa tells Jordan’s Creed. “This guy has nothing to lose. This guy — he’s dangerous.”
Stallone is referring to Florian “Big Nasty” Munteanu’s Viktor Drago, the son of Dolph Lundgren’s Ivan Drago character from “Rocky IV.” Adonis Creed’s father Apollo Creed was killed by an Ivan Drago punch in “Rocky V.”
The new footage, unveiled Wednesday, reveals that Jordan’s character now has personal obligations with a family, plus the shared legacy with his trainer.

One of the few franchise rejuvenation that had its intended effect, Creed was the rare blockbuster that embodied the spirit of the original while opening up the story in worthwhile directions. While director Ryan Coogler won’t be back for the follow-up, due to his busy schedule reteaming with his star Michael B. Jordan on Black Panther, another promising up-and-coming director has taken the reigns. Steven Caple Jr., helmer of the Sundance hit The Land, directs Creed II, and today the first trailer has arrived.
The eighth film in the franchise, it features the return of Jordan and Sylvester Stallone, and Tessa Thompson, as well as Phylicia Rashad, Andre Ward, and Wood Harris. In the follow-up, Creed will go against Viktor Drago (Florian Munteanu), son of Ivan Drago, played by Dolph Lundgren, who also returns. With filming only wrapping up earlier this month, check out the first trailer below ahead of a November release.

Creed 2 features a personal fight between the sons of Apollo Creed and Ivan Drago.
Creed 2 will continue to showcase the legacy-embracing exploits of Michael B. Jordan’s Adonis Creed, joined by his sagely mentor in Sylvester Stallone’s Rocky Balboa and his love interest, Tessa Thompson’s Bianca.
Steven Caple Jr. will direct the film, working off a script by Cheo Hodari Coker. Caple Jr. steps in for original Creed director Ryan Coogler, who’s looking towards a sequel to his Marvel mega-hit, Black Panther. The acquisition of Caple Jr. came after Sylvester Stallone himself had signed up to direct, only to bow out.
There was no question that a Creed sequel would happen: the 2015 film grossed $173 million worldwide, was acclaimed by fans and critics and even landed Stallone an Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actor. However, basing Creed 2 on one of the least acclaimed...

It’s not too often you get the seventh installment of a movie franchise that feels fresh, exciting and renews your faith in that series as a whole. Well, if you don’t count The Force Awakens, anyway. Creed is that rare beast that pays homage to the films that came before it but doesn’t wallow in nostalgia, instead making room for new characters, stories and themes to work their way into the hearts of viewers.
Even though one of those themes is that of legacy, we’re most definitely in the present with Adonis Johnson’s (Michael B. Jordan) story. The illegitimate son of Rocky’s rival-turned-friend Apollo Creed, Adonis decides to shrug off a white-collar existence in pursuit of...

MGM’s Rocky spinoff pic, Creed, has finally cast its leading lady in the shape of Tessa Thompson. The actress is currently on a winning streak this year, after accruing critical acclaim for her turn in heavyweight drama Selma and bagging a Gotham award for her part in Dear White People. Now that she’s boarded the boxing pic, she’ll be entering the ring with another noted rising star.
Reuniting with his Fruitvale Station director Ryan Coogler for the movie is leading man Michael B. Jordan. He is locked in to take on the part of Apollo Creed’s grandson alongside the titular star of the original series, Sylvester Stallone. With Jordan’s character in training with the older, more wizened Rocky, it’s thought that project newcomer Thompson will play his love interest. But who knows, maybe they’ll meet in a co-ed punch-up?
